FJ, don't forget about our "Francis John Historically Accurate Tour Video" wherever you and the girlfriend are going. I still laugh about the one from last year sometimes.
3:18 When you set something to local demand but you don't want remote demand, you should turn the remote to storage (grey) instead of leaving it on supply, otherwise it may send the resources to other remote stations and will mess things up. 3:58 You can see that the proliferators are being pulled away. 4:22 The proliferators got pulled away and your station is demanding locally again.
I also vote for another video on the jigsaw puzzle tournament and trip. Last years was a great watch. Though I also understand if you want to have an actual "vacation" where you don't have to record your life and think about work.
Incredible. That bus is a thing of beauty. I wouldn't have thought to use the inline splitters to make the rows so compact. Can't wait to see your farm!
Don't forget you can label sections of belt, so you know what's on them at a glance and don't need to zoom in or remember what's on each belt! Very handy when you have a gazillion belts in a mall and trying to remember which one had which component.
Nice indeed! I too once made a somewhat crazy mall. In the end I split it into two parts: a “stupid essentials” mall (with smelters/assemblers/chemical plants/belts/sorters) and then everything else. It was a glorious mess with 20k of quantum chemical plants - forgot the setting, only wanted 1k. I have not remade my mall as yet, with the new ability to dive the belts. Your bus looks interesting. I will do some design, though prefer to bring in items that are only needed by 1-2 items via logistics bots on a box.
Would recommend putting icons on the belts, this makes it easier to blueprint. Just to note, it's better to put the output items for the mall into a box, and set the input on the tower to the minimum number of items you want to send, this way you don't get thousands of items when you only need 100-200, but you'd still have the buffer as the storage box (on a splitter) before the tower will have enough in stock to quickly replenish minimum quantity. Now that belts can make those slope changes i'm going to have to redesign my own item production buss to reduce it's size and still look neat. I spaced my splitters such that i had 9 lanes between them, allowing 2 assembers to be put between them. Cut down on the high amount of Splitters required but allows up to 9 resources to be easily be fed in. Love the Mohawk the bus created haha, Mohawk Item Mall/Hub? :D
I think you've used my suggestion of the tall bus when I mentioned the different filters, this looks so much cleaner than when I did it as the 90 degree belts weren't possible - that mall was gnarly compared to yours! Also holding shift when you do the layered belts makes it snap to random bits less and makes it way easier
Not sure if this was mentioned, but if you want to proper limit how much is sent from the mall to another system per ship, you can't rely on the settings on the ILS for that. At least not really. Even if you set the minimum on a ship load to something like 10% the tower will always fill the drone as much as it can based on what is in the tower. The fix, if you want to control this more, is to set limits on the tower to only store the amount you want on a ship. Like lets say you only want to send 100 chem plants and not 1K. You set the storage in the tower to 100. To account for sending larger amounts quickly you use external storage like small chests from your production machines. So you have backlog, it's not just in the tower storage. With pile sorters the towers refill very fast but you cans till manage the amount on the logistics ships way more consistently.
If you add just a little more spacing between splitter stacks, you can have one stack bewteen two machines and get more assemblers in a smaller space. At least I think you would. Tip: @27:25 you can also bring the belts head-on right up to the assembler (no need to turn it parallel) and then get three inputs with a single cell transport input.
20:02 instead of finageling the angles, hold shift while dragging the belts. This deactivates the auto snap-to, allowing easier management of elevated belts. (Edit: 27:01 And FJ apparently knows this 😅) And, for a bus like this; output belt from the tower closest to the input first, then the next output will automatically jump to an elevated level, assuming it goes into (like in this case) a splitter stacked on top of the previous input.
for farming the dark fog it's probably easiest to make a self sufficient place and forget build that sustains itself, ship in anti matter rods or accumulators to power it (you can actually use the drops from the fog to rebuild the buildings used in the base, so it can fix itself, just set filters in the battlefield base slots) then just setup a large silo for storing fog materials i'm using one that sits on a planet's pole, if the build works well you can find a system with multiple hive's and just put it their, finding a planet with lots of bases already also helps (also i really wish some modder would make a mod that lets you disable building destroyed alarms for a specific system, because that gets annoying fast)
8:03 Also, here you have 100% continuous receiving, so there's no gain with the lense. However, if you couldn't get 100% (eg. the planet doesn't fit inside the dyson sphere, you filled the poles, you don't have tidaly locked planet etc etc) then you'll "magically" get more power - as the strength of received power increase ie. less power is wasted. You tested it on a receiver that's already maxed out on strength but if you tried it on something that isn't maxed out (or couldn't due to the reasons mentioned earlier) you'd see a decrease in power wasted. Eg. here you draw 532 MW from the Dyson Sphere but put 480 MW onto your grid. If the strenght was smaller it could be 300 MW put onto the grid - but still 532 MW consumed from the Sphere. That's why the lenses are awesome - they almost guarantee youl'll max out the connection strength regardless where you put the receivers
Hi. Watch the logistic towers with remote supply on the resources that get used there. No problem now but will cause problems later when u build production (demand) on other planets. Storage function exists for that.
Just curious here but instead of huge swathes of belts/splitters to create a mall, have you looked into the Logistics Distributors/drones? These can also deliver stuff directly into your inventory - save you going around collecting everything by hand.
Not when off-planet. The goal here is to use an ILS on a new planet, request 1000 belt to replenish inventory and move to the next planet without ever having to set foot back on the mall planet...
Press i to bring up the logistics panel. You can view all of your ILS from there and edit them so that you don't have to fly to the planet to make changes.
The waterfall belts are so silly. Looks way more like an exploit than an actually intended game mechanic. Honestly, I wish they just added some kind of vertical tubes instead of belts at this point, since that feels like it'd be easier to understand than all the weirdly angled belts.
They showed a picture of a roller coaster doing the same thing so it made sense. And you could already build angled weird belt designs by using the copy and paste, it doesn’t check the same illegal paths like normal belt so you could make elevated belts in a 2x1 going up to any height if you wanted. Tedious and annoying, but doable. I think they wanted to do something about that but not remove it.
Check out the "Farming the Dark Fog & their Tech! | Step-By-Step 2024 Masterclass | #11" from The Dutch Actuary. I adapted from their farm. Was well worth it
32:02 Uhh... So just a space condom? Or did you mean probiotic? ... Wait after checking the dictionary it seems that the word prophylactic isn't spelled prophallactic like I had always assumed, and thus does not always directly benefit your junk. Many things make more sense now. Calling condoms prophylactic is basically an ancient pun because they guard (phylax) your penis (phallós). Truly these are the things we can only discover at 2AM.
The beginning of the game was kinda entertaining, but now its just meh.. it got to big to follow your steps visually. hoping for a new series soon. hyped for every oni vid tho
I would say that is a matter of opinion. Logistics bots aren't all that great until you get the research into them and by then your mall is mostly complete. So if you have been building one way all this time aud it works then what is the problem. As the old saying goes if it ain't broke don't fix it.
I spent time and effort with my logistic bot mall but I was happy I did. Once I got the ISL I just demanded the resources I need and I blueprinted a mall that uses depots and logistics bots to build everything I need. I can plop it in any planet provided I have power. My only gripe about it having to place logistic bots in every station. For some reason it will not load them into the stations when I place the blueprint.
Sorry but you lost me at 14:40 when after saying your 8 stack bus and proceeded to count to 8. Blow it count drakula i didnt realise this was a series for pre schoolers, will avoid from now on

I can appreciate the belt dedication, I had a bus running around the entire equator myself.

So happy for another episode in this series
I like that bus and mall too
the bus kinda looks like a cargo freighter to me

"You're protected from hives." My twisted mind. Its a hive rubber. Lmao.
Once I get home, this is going to be so much fun to watch! :D

Yeah. Last thing you want is a ship delivering 2000 chem plants (or other expensive buildings) to your remote planets. Most buildings you would want
hope you two have a great vacation
Love the video! Don't forget to proliferate your proliferators!
Will be waiting for your channel update, it is always fun and nice =)
Enjoy your holioday Francis!

It's not a mall, it's a wall!
nice channel :D found it throu avorion...
hoped for more... but nice anyway...
You can get extra shots from ammo if you proliferate btw
You also get extra ammo by spraying the stuff that makes the ammo
can i proliferate the enemy too?
Jigsaw time again, woo! Have fun.
Oooo! Can we get another puzzler convention update on your return?
Press i to bring up the logistics panel. You can view all of your ILS from there and edit them so that you don't have to fly to the planet to make changes.
the tail of the xenomorph looks so weird 😄
I love this series but I am being selfish and really hoping FJ picks up satisfactory as well :)
he already has atleast twice 😅 but annother playthrough would be pretty cool
27:45 If you're using 0 (zero) on the number row, use the numpad 0 instead, or vice-versa.
Does Francis have a full sized keyboard? Seems a little inefficient.

I recently made a proliferstor mk3 black box design. 2000/min in a 100*25 space. Need stacked output from the ils tho
Please pre-record an episode for next week!
Shift+up/down is 5 level in one go, fyi. So even with a 14 levels, you just need to press it three time :)
and we are back
27:37 the shortcut to bring it down to ground level is 0 (zero) on the numpad. At least for me it is...
I know you’re going to do a Satisfactory play through again now that 1.0 launched right?!
I'm late to the party, but why Francis chose 0.8 luminosity star for the DS?
I'm more partial to sushi belts myself
👍

That’s good rat…
Please, redo your mall using logistic bots. Logistic network, with the boomerang bots is easier, faster and more efficient

I'm sure your contribution was valuable and the channel will totally be lost without your valid input.
