Taking out a max sized hive : Dyson Sphere program ep 13

  • The hive was big enough that it cost us 200 ships. That means we can't just smash any enemies we want we have to plan ahead and carry the necessary supplies with us. But on the bright side we should only need to clear out about 3-5 mores systems tops to achieve our goals.

Don't forget to collect the grating crystals in addition to the unipolar magnets. Those are used for making the special miners, whereas the unipolar magnets are used for making the special smelters. They can also speed up solar sail production which you'll want when expanding your spheres.

The size of this project only gets more intimidating when you realize that for maximum power output, you need to make 10 total layers.

Noooooo no way, I'm not going that far. The amount of science you would need to generate to burn that much power would kill any PC.

Hi francis. When you go to a system as far away as possible you can find planets with alot of fog bases on it. Maybe those can be good to get steady supply of all the farming goods. Or maybe use planets that are mined empty. Finite resources and stuff.
Edit: you can turn up difficulty by talking to the station floating in space.

Hi FJ, Don't forget that objects adjust for where they are placed on the planet. There are main lines like the Equator, Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn. Nilaus has a few videos on these "Planetary Sectors".
For example if you make a blue print near the Equator the objects are fixed to those lines therefore they will not work near or on the poles and vise versa. That's why most blueprints are lined horizontally with the equator and the tropics to avoid object conflicts like you experienced.
Glad to see you're having fun and adjusting your approach accordingly :D
tl;dr Build blueprints horizontally to avoid object conflict.

Also, building it further away from the equator will make it able to be placed anywhere within that zone. Building it near the equator is going to cause issues as you move north or south.

18:40 You have your Proliferator set to Local Demand/Remote Supply, so a ship from another planet showed up and stole all the proliferator, which now has to be resupplied from the local tower. You need to change Remote Supply to Remote Storage to prevent this, or keep the proliferator out of towers completely using Logistic Drones, AKA, Fidgit Spinners.

Find the 'Dark Fog Communicator' in your home system. This allows you to increase their difficulty in-game. Are you still against mods? If not, there's a rail ejector mod that will auto retarget the ejectors to different layers if/when they get out of LOS. Where are your space destroyers? Those behemoths obliterate DF hives. When your support ships are out, learn to use ctrl-click to move their spawn point in front of you. This way they will spawn there instead of always next to you.

Thanks for continuing this series! I've been playing along on your seed on max difficulty, but my initial passion declined in the scaling-up phase after having the first 20GW sphere running to create white science. The fact that you cleaned up a hive with corvettes on standard difficulty at all is cute, but you can abuse the "enable" button to recall and instantly heal your ships. That also concentrates firepower: there was a lot of "unnecessary" death by auto-sending your ships piecemeal into the concentrated defenses when your corvettes respawned after destruction. Using destroyers and a littel more careful approach, you can kill a hive at max difficulty within 30min and losing less then 50 destroyers. But your approach sure was over quick ;-)
I checked reddit out of curiosity and apparently, around 5k ray receivers per planet at around 2.4TW is the max with gravitational lenses utilized. Times 3 for the number of planets in big blue, that will be a sight to behold. I wonder how your beefy PC will deal with converting 6.2k critical photons per second into power and white science ;-)

The reason your blueprint is colliding is because the "squares" making up the grid of the blueprint are different sizes when you are different places on the sphere. So if you make a blueprint near the equator, it will only work near the equator because that's where the squares of the grid are biggest. If you move that blueprint nearer to the poles, the grid will be too small and the buildings will collide. If you look on the globe for where there are constant lines of latitude that are unbroken they divide the sphere into three or four big zones. The polar caps are basically circular so they are their own thing. Then there is a tight zone where you can make blueprints that will work with small squares. Then there is a broad zone next to the equator for big blueprints, then a tight one then you are at the other pole.

  • @mikeyvee128
    @mikeyvee128 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

They are colliding with themselves, because you probably built it close to the equator and now try to place it closer to a tropic, if you will. Very annoying, I know.

This is why I really don't use blueprints because of the fiddly bits that happen sometimes, I plant one row down then copy it, seem just as quick for one play through but putting may bases down I think it would be a chore. The blueprints seem to hamper compact builds in some way.

If only designing the Dyson spheres wasn't such a pain, I hope next update for the game adds some quality of life updates for it. (or am I missing some in game tool?)
Personally I've just started using blueprints of other people's amazing designs.
It takes me over an hour just to design a plain sphere, I hate to see how long it took some people to design those blueprints.

Unfortunately, ingame is still lack-luster for a feature that is literally in the game's name! I have not checked how up-to-date they are, but there are 3rd party design tools and mods for ingame quality-of-life improvements (like symmetry-placing of nodes).
