Love this reaction! I'm so glad that more and more Hiphop heads and music lovers like you are loving XG. They really are artists in every sense of the word.
They always put out top-tier music, Avant-garde MV and insane artistry every single time.
XG'S COMPETITION IS XG THEMSELVES.
The album just dropped with the song, Howling is the title track.
There are two new songs on top of this one in the album : In the rain and Is this love, two rnb bangers, and there is also the Woke Up remix which requires a bit of lore to appreciate : the rappers on the remix are prominent korean and japanese rappers brought here by the producer Simon (who is half japanese and korean himself) as a sort of showing of unity and endorsing of the XG project.
Maybe you don't know but relations between those two countries are sometimes tense and it's a dream of Simon to bring his piece for a sort of reconciliation.
Anyway, the remix is dope, as are the rest of the songs on the album (IYKYK and Something ain't right) are on it also, it's the second album without a bad song, what a team they have (producers as well as the girls).
Howling is clearly their masterpiece : everything is here, quality rap writing, atmosphere, the hook is truly provoking "awe" (the title of the Album) and shock, it's hauntingly beautiful and the video is like... I don't even want to know the budget, plus it's incredibly bold artistically speaking.
Regarding the lore, I won't go into too much details but since their first songs they have a sort of double concept : they are wolves and form a pack (the fandom name is Alpha and that's why they ave grills in Woke up) and they are aliens from another world. It's started as that, but since IYKYK and now Howling they added some sort of mythical naturalistic spritism, it seems that each girl is representing here an aspect of nature. This development is quite new so it's surprising pretty much everyone.

Be patient, XG is rising slowly but surely, believe me their hard work will not be in vain because they grow organically unlike Kpop groups. Even though they were snubbed at the MAMA awards, I'm sure that was just the beginning of XG's success.

Masterpiece.
Most of XG's videos use high-quality limited run 3D printed props and costume accessories. Shots fired as these girls are ripping up the music industry
Also the Art Direction was from renowned South Korean Art Director Cho-GiSeok (same guy on the helm of GRL GVNG & WOKE UP). The costumes are real tho. They really go out of way when it comes to insane, over the top costume which we love.

You're legit the only person I heard catch on to the song used (9:30 mark). I heard it too. It's the Immigrant Song which has been used in movies such as Shrek when Snow White attacked with the wildlife (as you mentioned), Thor Ragnarok, and Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. It's a war cry and very befitting for the vibes 🔥🔥
So the story line I got from it is like XG said: they better kneel and pray, cuz they coming for the throne. They're infiltrating this bot like system (as shown in the mv) and "breaking idol stereotypes" by bringing uniqueness, color/life into a music world that's lacking individuality. They're coming and attacking full force til they take over completely.
XG killin it! When ya talked about storyline, I thought about their MV "woke up." Jurin had a bar that said,"Left the place in panic, left to take another planet, left to make another statement." Ending visuals with the planet flowering seems to play a connection to "woke up."
They referenced so many movies and everytime I watch a reaction more get added so far there is Ghost in the Shell, Matrix, Princess Monoke, iRobot, Dune, and now wolfman which was originally released in 1941 in black and white

Yep 👍🏽 Exactly…I love the Michael Jackson music references. Simon “Jakops” knows exactly how to highlight each member. Right after “GIRL GANG” … Simon “stated yep, they’re aliens 👽 “. My favorite version of GIRL GANG is the American Sign Language one because one of the XGALX Production Team member’s daughter is a deaf fan…🙆🏻♀️🫶🏽…plus this specific version has the entire song in it. I’m so impressed because these Xtraordinary Girls moved from JAPAN had to learn KOREAN, moved onto ENGLISH then took ASL to create a version for the deaf community. The GALACTIC WOLVES lore continues. In “Something Ain’t Right” they demonstrated their Super Powers. This MV I believe deserves an Award 🏆. Thank you both for supporting our Xtraordinary Girls. This video was based on MJ's Earth Song. The way they howl is very much like a harmony from that song.

You maybe thinking of Immigrant Song by Led Zeppelin. The red eyes remind me of a japanese anime called Jin Roh The Wolf Brigade. There is also a korean version. Its about people who are predators(wolves aka Cocona & Maya) who live amongst the preys(QR code is a pig). There seems to be Princess Monoke references in there as well (nature fighting back).
