I absolutely love this cutscene. Lyna's VA is outstanding! And I hated how Vauthry added insult to injury - or however goes the saying. I am not a native english speaker. Oh, how I wanted to kill him there and then. >
It's the only good acting in the game. Pretty much every single character in the game never raise their voice or have a range at all. They just read their lines in the same manner and tone.
I couldn't stop thinking about this scene when waking up and had to watch it again. I literally can't think of better voice acting anywhere in the game, and no matter how many times I see this I choke up. The voice actress for Lyna really should do more work in the game. That voice crack is just too perfect and really solidifies just how hard she's trying to hold her tears back 😢

@@optimaltt6070 - I did it solo and later on by pure luck, my first party of Mapping in 90's got me a pair of Archangel Wings. I forsook the gil for them. I EARNED those wings, they're MINE.
They had the artistic choice of just letting Lyna's pain sink in, but they wanted the roller coaster of emotions. Such a genius decision to follow that scene with Vauthry's fucking lines. Made me say "Oh fuck you, Vauthry! Not now." as soon as it dropped.
Okay I love this scene its incredible and Lyna was my favorite part of ShB but I cannot take this seriously entirely because Vauthry comes in with the "IMPUDENT WORMS OF THE CRYSTARIUM" to take the edge off the depression.
It's funny, but it really rubs the salt in the wound of the battle and completely shits on those who were lost. It is exactly what they needed to do to make you hate Vauthry that much more. I think the scene would feel like it's missing something if it were left out.
It’s funny but it also made me so. So ANGRY. it’s one of the most real depictions of chaos and depravity I’ve ever seen. This game know how to slingshot my emotions like no one else. I didn’t expect her to fall. I’m glad my warrior helped. And then to hear her words and then Vauthry’s disgusting words. I’ve had visceral moments in the game. But this. This made me angry. I’ve been sad in this game before but right here carried a reaction that lasted throughout the rest of the game til Endwalker 5.0 ended.
Such a good scene, Lyna choice of words (While there's breath in my lungs-) even before her fall from exhaustion already hints at survivor's guilt in a way. Or well thats how i see it anyways.
That moment when Lyna's voice cracks just absolutely broke my heart. I already adored her, but that moment sealed the deal for me. Waifu par excellence.
I still remember how i was alt leveling Sage since i was like level 85 on MCH and saw in cutscene us healing during alphinauds roast in Eulmore And when this part hit i thought maybe just maybe theres some healing interactions i can do with the dead and dying NPCs...there wasnt...and it was tearing me apart. And when i saw Lyna slumped i was mortified that she was another victim the game wouldnt let me heal... And then this cutscene hit me like a train. Legitimately it felt like i was there with Lyna, and i just wanted to give her a hug. I didnt care for Vauthry in that moment i just skipped that dialogue, i ignored him because all i wanted to do in that moment was help the injured This scene is easily one of the best written sequences in gaming and Salóme Gunnarsdóttir deserves awards for her portrayal as Lyna
Does anyone know what the name of this track is? It's using the scars of battle motif from Lost City of Amdapor but for the life of me, skimming through the soundtracks I cannot find it.
Except the game 99% of the time never lets the characters display emotions like Lyna does here. One good example is how Elidibus died, reciting shakespear instead of simply grieving. Meanwhile in JP he is straight out eating his heart out, which I find way more relatable and emotional. I don't think most of us would channel our theater kid on our death bed, but the ENG localization didn't get that memo.
Lyna having a breakdown is the best acting in the game.

14 from HW onward is the best written *and especially ACTED* localization from JP->ENG i've ever seen.
