  • The only Saleen SC built in the iconic Calypso Metallic color. Showing less than 5,000 miles this car is in amazing condition and is one that hasn't been seen in the public eye in almost 20 years. This car was custom ordered by Dale Mathis of Mathis Mustang Performance. Dale was known in the North Georgia area as a Fox Mustang guru and dealer of anything Mustang related at the time. He sold many Georgia SSP coupes to hot rodders and racers alike.
    This car resides in a private collection of Saleen's. The Ross Family Collection is amazing and has many other models of Saleen's and even early Shelby's. Mark and I hope to be able to go visit them in the coming year and talk about their cars and how they are select pieces of automotive history.
    For more information on Mark visit www.performanceautosport.com and check out the detailing services he offers which includes Dry Ice treatments for your collector car. He also offers valuation letters for insurance purposes.
    For more information on Bob, check out www.puristmotorsports.com for project updates and details on parts for cars like this in this video.

    Wow! Beautiful car! I was 19 when this car came out so the Fox Body Mustang was a very big deal in my childhood and had several friends who owned one. I've owned a couple later in life and really wish I had another one. My favorite car of all time!

    Don't get me wrong, I love the Stern wheels but it's nice seeing DP's not in white. Plays off the side stripes/chevrons really nice. Exceptionally beautiful Fox Saleen.

      The three piece stern wheels are awesome and back in the day I liked those waaay more than the DP5 wheels. But now, the DP5’s are nostalgic and a classic 80’s early 90’s design. Lots of inspiration came from the Porsche 959 on the SSC and 90-91 SC models. Wheels specifically.

    It's a great cool car. I'm just tired of wealthy people gobbling cars like this up, making it much more difficult and expensive for us average car enthusiasts with much thinner wallets. Top it off with these cars just sitting not being enjoyed to only be seen as art to the wealthy.

      This is nothing new in the collector car market. Since the beginning of time, there have only been three types of admission to the collector car world. 1) buy a new car today that you think will have significant value in 30+ years and squirrel it away in a garage and never drive it. 2) Buy a car that has already been refreshed/restored to the level you want. This could be a good driver or a full on factory correct restoration. The closer to perfect the restoration, the less it will be driven and the higher the cost of admission. 3) find a used and abused version and put your own blood and sweat into restoring it to the level you want. It could be something you just want to get back on the road or could be a years long project of perfection. End of the day, begging these cars not to gain value and prominence is unrealistic. Just remember this, true collector cars that have value are never cheap, no matter which option you chose to obtain them.

    In 91/92 went to go look at a used 5.0 at a dealership and they had a new LX 5.0 in this color with chrome pony’s… and they were begging me to just test drive it! I guess they couldn’t get anyone to buy it… now I think it’s a beautiful color but back then? Eeek!

    I'm about to take a look at what i hope is a real Saleen. I mean from what i see in the pictures it looks genuine, but i don't really know what else to look for aside from actually calling the registry. It's a very solid looking vehicle so for what it's selling for and the prices for a clean Foxbody, i think I'll be getting a great deal🤞

    At 0:47 Dale Mathis of Mathis Mustang in Varnell GA? If so I've seen that car in person and about the same time he also had a 1994 Ford Mustang Cobra Cnv Indy 500 Pace w/the factory hardtop you could put on it... I used to buy all my foxbody aftermarket mods from Dale.. Edit I expanded the header and see he's the same Dale Mathis I was thinking of... I used to go to his house/shop all throughout the early to mid 90's.. Some of the Saleens he'd have when i went there would make you drool.. It was Saleen Mustang Porn! I told him once that I wanted to buy a stacked spoiler like that for my 93 LX 5.0. He told me you don't want one of those ( I can't remember if he was talking about the aftermarket or the actual Saleen stacked spoiler ) He said they're held on with double sided adhesive tape.

    • @PuristMotorsports
      @PuristMotorsports  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      All Saleen's from 1989 to 1993 had screws placed in specific locations of the ground effects to help hold them on better. Some 1988 cars have screws because they started doing that as a running change in 1988 and there were warranty services performed on early aero cars with screws by dealers because the front air dams were coming off. Depends on where the car was delivered as to whether that was a problem or not. Really hot or really cold areas can create issues not seen in sunny southern Cali.

    Are the wings for show or are they functional?

    • @PuristMotorsports
      @PuristMotorsports  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I was advised by a Ford engineer who did wind tunnel testing that the 90-91 “double stack” wing is more functional than the other Saleen designed whale tale used on the aero cars.

    How are these rated at 304 but a 93 Cobra was 235?

    • @PuristMotorsports
      @PuristMotorsports  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The SC had a bigger MAF, bigger Intake plenum, 1.72 rockers, ported heads, larger 1 5/8" primary Motorsport SSC headers, and a less restrictive Dynomax cat back were what was changed vs the standard 5.0 and standard Saleen models. The exhaust was less restrictive for sure. The stock 5.0 cam actually created more peak power in the GT40 test motors than the 93 cobra cam but was "soft" down low which is why Ford changed the 93 Cobra camshaft for more off idle and low end torque. So that off idle street manners are more "fun" for every owner. The Saleen SC's are very soft down low having driven a couple. They like to stay above 3500rpm. That being said, 304 was advertised. I'm not aware of anyone doing actual dyno sessions to confirm or deny that claim. It is definitely a better breathing motor than a standard 5.0. That I can confirm.

      @Chrisw678 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @PuristMotorsports Yes, back in 92 or 93 Ford changed the hp ratings for 5.0 engine. From 225hp to 205hp although they made no changes to the engine. From the dyno results I've seen stock 87-94 5.0's dyno at around 190 rwhp. The 93 stock Cobras dyno around 220 rwhp. If Ford didn't change the stock hp ratings, they would have had to advertise the 93 Cobra at 255-260 hp instead of 235 hp.
