  • Come along with us from Michigan to Ohio for an ultra-low mileage 1988 Accord in MINT condition! With a 5-speed manual and the beautiful condition this car is in, we might never see another one like it, and our Honda collector friend (who is also one of the executive producers of this channel) is thrilled at his new acquisition. Enjoy!

The collector that bought it keeps all of his cars 100% OEM. His plan is to clean it, polish it up, and drive it occasionally in warmer weather.

Maaan, Dont you even think about modifying this car. Keep it just the way it is. But that up to yall. This Honda will outlast any of these today modern vehicles they got out here now. Everything functional. Talking about right time at the right place. Excellent job guys. Should've let Scotty Kilmer check it out. He'll flip on that. He be glad put this car on the TH-cam show.

This is a true time capsule. Hard to believe a 35 year old Honda has less miles than most modern cars in 1 year of driving.

Beautiful car. I just recently sold a 1989 Prelude. It had 90,000 miles on the odometer but it was babied it’s entire life. It literally looked like it just rolled off the showroom floor. At car meets, my car would typically get more attention than any of the other cars that were modded because clean Hondas from the 80s are so rare now.

5:02 There was a recall on the gas cap section.. My '87 DX needed a patch to be welded over the rusted bits. As you say, this area, in pristine condition, IS rare. Thanks, Eric, for showing us this gem of car.

Take off those rubber trim pieces around the rear wheel wells. They are the reason so many 3rd-5th gen Hondas rusted back there.

I purchased an used dark charcoal gray 88 4-dr Accord LX 5MT in 1992. It was fun to drive, extremely reliable, and never had an issue other than faded paint. Added an used 89 Honda Accord LX-i 2-dr hatch 4AT as my wife's daily driver in 1993. We drove both Honda's almost 10 years and +250,000 miles between them. I've been hooked on Honda (and now Acura) since.

I had a 1988 Accord LX 5-speed. It was awesome. I drove it for 13 years and put 177,000 miles on it. It cornered beautifully, the engine was bullet-proof reliable, the shifter was precise and the clutch engagement was so smooth some people didn’t notice they were riding in a manual car. I miss it sometimes. I’ve bought two Accords since and I’ve loved them, too.

A 5-speed '89 LX-i coupe was my first new car. Ten-ish years later, someone broadsided me at 165K. I was really hoping to keep that car for a long, time. I hurriedly found a 5-speed '88 LX-i sedan and ran that until the something in the back rusted out to the point it was dangerous to drive. I noticed this one has the graphic equalizer. I spent the big bucks and went for the CD player. Fun times!

If Honda ever wants to be number one in the economical small car market again, all they have to do, is start building these late 80's Honda's again, and their success would be instant and assured!

I had a 1989 Accord Lxi with 5 speed manual. I bought it in 2002 with 188k miles on it. Kept it 20 years and had the engine replaced in 2008. What finally killed it was the accelerator cable broke and it was impossible to find a replacement. Very cool car. I'm now driving a 2011 Accord with an automatic tranny and it's cool but doesn't have the same vibe. I love manual tranny's.

Man, that one's a beauty. I bought an '89 LXi about a year back, 293k miles, no AC and a boatload of issues, mostly aesthetic. Since I've seen a few videos and read into the forums, I changed my mind from slamming the car and going into the body kit route into trying to restore it and keep it as close to OEM style as I can. These cars are hard to come by in good condition, and parts are even harder, so restoring this one and giving it a glow up will definitely feel like an accomplishment. Third Gen Accords are definitely an underrated classic from what I've seen!

That was certainly a steal, but amazing how it kept its value. That's funny about the coffee and the sprint to the door. This design for the Accord stands out as probably its most daring and modern, for its time. It's a great, fun car to drive, especially due to its low cowl and slim A-pillars, which afforded a commanding and confident view ahead. You're so lucky! Enjoy it! I look forward to an update.

I had an '87 as my first car. I sold it with 315K miles and wish I never did.

BTW pretty sure the gas cap and the surrounding screws were all recall replacements due to rust issues back then.

I saw the plates and the county, every Dimension the dealership name. I'm in the same city as this person that sold you the car! Wish I would have found it! Now it's going to the state up north... has your Honda collector colleague contacted Honda Motor Company (30 miles from Columbus) let them know of this example? They are always interested in the high-mileage Accords, maybe this would interest them as well. Can I get some sort of plaque for it!

At 3:06 what is that right around the fender wheel well? Is the paint chipping, or was it scraped?

This is a beautiful car. If it had the led brakelight spoiler & maybe oem foglights... this car would a standard for modern day crap. Also, 6:13....no 2x brakelight. Looks off key if both of them were lit
