Thank you, Howard. This looks like a particularly good red dot; I especially like the idea of variable sighting displays. My 77 year old eyes are well past their prime, however, my circumstances (not anyone else’s) make it most unlikely that I would very have a lawful defensive shot beyond (maybe) twelve yards. To about sevens yards, I suspect I’m currently okay with iron sights . . . and that is certainly my most likely distance. So my dilemma remains probably slower target acquisition and possible malfunctions with the red dot, or potentially reduced accuracy in the seven to twelve yard range.
Holosun makes a quality optic. I own maybe 8 or 10 including both red and green dots as well as the ACSS Vulcan "chevron" reticle. All have worked perfectly. For those of us with less than perfect eyesight that make iron sights difficult to use, the red dot sights are a blessing. With a +1 diopter pair of glasses I can do well enough with open sights but I'm more accurate with a red dot. It will be interesting to see how you do with the 507 Comp on the range.
Great video! I still think I prefer my SRO but these have a lot of cool features for a decent price. I'm interested to see your conclusions on dot size vs speed and accuracy.
Hello HR. For the features and price, I have been very pleased with Holosun sights. This should be an interesting range test. Lots of holes in that slide. You never know when you'll find a chunk of aged parmigiana reggiano. Make America grate again.😂
Hello Mr Funk my man, how are you? I am a Holosun fan big time for years now I have eight 508T's, one 507C, two 510c's and a couple of different style Holosun optics on my AR style rifles so I know how well they perform. I'm thinking about the 507 Comp for my Prodigy comp 5 inch I will be picking up from my FFL next week... Great detailed video as you always do man. Great job buddy!!! 😎
Good review thanks. I love the huge window on this but felt it was too large for CCW. Of course it was not intended for it. I moved it to my largest handgun that I use for competition. You should try and get your hand on a EPS Holosun. That is the future of handgun optics and they are outstanding.
Very informative ! I shot a match on a rainy cloudy day and at 56 , I could barely see my fiber optic . Time to move from Production to Carry Optics. I have an EPS on my XL and at night it’s blinding .
Thanks for the video. I plan to get one for my Springfield prodigy. I have 3 other holoson's on my guns. One is green dot and one of them has the solar strip. I love the optic and they stay zeroed. I think the one you're showing has a larger viewing window in the optic. I hope so. That would be the deal maker.
I will be interested in the range results. I did a test using the Hi LuxTD-3C on a 1911 with a 22 Converter that had a rail. I shot at 10 yards at a steel plate doing a raise and fire double tap. I wanted to include both the initial target acquisition and a follow-up shot. I compared using the circle-dot, dot only, and iron sights. My results were that there did not seem to be much difference in accuracy among the 3 options but I only counted if I hit the steel plate not where on the plate. However the iron sights were the fastest, the red dot only next (10% slower), and the circle with the dot the slowest (20% slower than the iron sights). Not what I expected. Good luck on your test!
Palmetto State Armory was offering a deal on a Rock pistol with Holosun, so I figured why not and bought it. My attitude toward optics of that type went from suspicious to approving in one range session. I especially benefitted by getting much better at keeping both eyes open while being able to focus my dominant eye on the sights--even on iron sights on other firearms. Now I have to decide if I want to go from approving to enthusiastic, given the expense of the optics and of fitting them to guns that weren't made for such things.
I’ve been slow at warming up to optics. Initially I viewed them as kind of a necessary evil. After several years of use, I’m beginning to look on them a little more favorably. You’re right about the additional cost factor, and neither the optics nor the pistols that use them are getting any cheaper.
Dam!! There goes my underwater shark hunting!! It is O.K. though, we are mostly concerned with hunting MUDBUGS and EATING THEM!! this time of year!! I have Holosun optics on my Canik!! I prefer the green over the other red dots that I have, For my over 70 eyes Green works best with small center dot inside large outer circle for Quick target acquisition, then precice target shot!! Can't wait to see what works best for you!! Keep up the great videos!!
Been really impressed with my Holosun 512k on my 365XL. Only 33, but newish to dots; grew up on A2 irons. Love my RMR2 on my 16' 5.56, but she sits on top of the more used ACOG; the Holosun on my AK "pistol" has also impressed me. Edit: the one on my AK is actually this exact one, whoops! 😹
The green version is more as there are more electronics required to make a green laser than a red laser. (Lasers are naturally red in color). Although there are more reticles provided in the 507 Comp they are smaller than those, say on a 507C. So, a little more practice is involved in picking up the reticle. I would like to see a review of the SCS, the Self Charging Sight, and there is a model specifically designed for the optics ready S&W M&P 2.0 . No plate, no screws, no battery needed. And at least on the Glock model, it co witnesses with the existing iron sights. So, no need to change your grip, wrist angle, etc when using the optic. By the way, Holosun sights generally have the same mounting profile as the Trijicon RMR. We sell more Holosun sights where I work than all others put together. By the way they also have a Self Charging Rifle Sight, and are working on a thermal pistol sight!
I don't want one but as long as HR can get some free stuff I'll watch it. The view count is important for this to continue. Hope you like it. I have 4 dots at less than 50 bucks each and one that's 200 bucks. All of them have the green or red option. it's curios that this Holoson doesn't have it.
@@hrfunk I think it's on purpose but there are those that like one color and not the other. I also think that Holoson made a mistake on this one. So it goes.
The price point is excellent and thanks to your vid I'll be buying one. I just want to be able to show OP that I'm buying because of your video, because that's why I'm putting that optic on my new gun when it comes in. Thanks again for a very well done demo of the optic. Touched every thing a buyer wants to know. Well done my friend. Let me know how to make sure they give you credit for the purchase. I don't care about the discount.
Thanks hrfunk. I suspect you'll find the reticle varieties have plus & minus, speed vs accuracy, with the "busiest" option being slowest overall. The big window is something I appreciate from comparing HS 510 and HS 403G, the 510 big window is a good bit faster & better sense of FOV, less claustrophobic -- if that makes sense. I'm afraid if I try the Comp I will want one on every handgun!
Have not tried shooting a handgun with a optic yet. I do have 1 pistol that has a spot for a micro sized optic. Would like to try one but not exactly sure how much $ I want to spend on one. Also was wondering if adding one to a carry pistol is going to possibly be a issue with comfort .think there’s a budget option to be found & if they are a noticeable increase in speed & accuracy =fun.& if I enjoyed it like I think I will, I wouldn’t mind spending more money if there was a substantial difference/benefit..just starting to shop. Thanks for your input.
Have never heard that. It's recommended for competition use because of it's large window (easier to find the dot) and CRS (competition reticle system).
@@drilledarmory my bad, I initially heard it was not for CC when it was first released, but Holosun’s web site currently says it can be used for CC. Thanks for the correction!
I'll take Holosun over any other optic.. I couldn't care less about where it's made.. People sound so stupid talking about "well it ain't made in America".. Well neither is that phone, tv, computer or them Trump shoes you're wearing Cleatus, have a seat 😂
Almost 70 and love my Holosun. The green is easier for me to pick up quickly. Everyone's eyes are different.

I'd need 2 with my old eyes. Thanks for members post ,

Nice review! I run a Delta Point Pro on one of my pistols and the larger window has definitely spoiled me. 👍👍

Nice video. Please review a poor man's optic from cylee one of these days. Thanks!
Great optic sight ! Does the Holosun 507 comp fits ok on the Atlas Erebus ?
I’m sorry. I don’t know.
507 Comp uses RMR footprint … looks like Atlas has an RMR/SRO optic plate.
By the way, Chief, sorry to be a bit long winded there..
No problem.
Is the M&P 9L considered a 1.0 or 2.0 ? Which mounting plate did you use ?
It’s a 1.0. I used the RMR plate.
Dang, I guess I can’t get this for deep sea diving…..Bummer😂
Nope, Moby is safe for the moment.
How do you think this would preform as a 45 degree optic for an AR platform?
It might be a little bit big for that, but otherwise I think it would be fine.
Isn't the 507Comp only recommended for competition use (not concealed carry, duty, or defense) due to being less durable?
Beats me, but I’m not seeing anything about it that makes me think it would be a poor choice for duty use.
Have never heard that. It's recommended for competition use because of it's large window (easier to find the dot) and CRS (competition reticle system).

Which one? Remember, Optics Planet is “HRFUNK”. HOP is “HRFUNK10”. If you have a problem with either one, call them and they will fix it.
It was OP but I had an account but it says I can't open it. I'll figure it out. btw, prices have gone way down on them. @@hrfunk
Yeah, I was quoting MSRP in the video. The OP prices are pretty good on these sights.

did you shoot it from the bench at 25 yards to see accuracy?
Yes, when I zeroed it.
@@hrfunk how many inches did it group?
@javiersp01 Off the top of my head, I don’t recall. I want to say 4-ish inches, but I might be wrong.
@@hrfunk if you can, in the next video, please do a five or better yet, a ten shot group from the bench at 25 yards. thanks. cheers
1.9 inches wide?
