do you get this with the udemy course?
You don’t get the full chart, but in the Udemy class you get several sheets that have the NeverLost shape and where you are on it. This chart is how to put it all together, the one on the Udemy class does have the complete NeverLost, but only one graphic. Hope that made sense.

Click for me to all the shapes was knowing the top five strings are always a repeating cyclical pattern of two "1-4s" intervals then three "1-3s" (although the position might change) and the high e string is obviously the same as the low. Keeping that in mind and that the bottom of one box is the top of the next, it's easy to know what shape is next down the neck.

I doubt you'll see this but I feel it should be said regardless, this is one of the only instructional videos I've seen where it genuinely feels like a teacher teaching students that cares. Most videos you find on this is a teacher that knows the lesson 100% in and out and can describe it well enough, but after saying the basics, leaves it up to the student to do whatever. Going the extra mile and saying no, I'll make more if you don't understand, is truly the sign of a great, humble teacher.

Been running and stumbling through the 5 boxes for 30 years. You are the FIRST and ONLY teacher that has ever said put your index on the root note when ascending and ring finger on root when descending. WOW ! THAT'S IT !!! Now if I can only find a time machine .....

I'm 65, and played guitar since I was a kid ---- by ear. Even played in a couple of high school and post-high school bands (until I got drafted by the Army). Post-Army I went to college on the GI Bill and took Beginning Guitar 101. How hard could it be? For me? Well, the course was one-on-one instruction and the music professor said right off, "Show me what you can do." So, I went through a couple of chord progressions and riffs, which seemed to please the guy. But, the very next thing he said was Greek, was everything else he said about what I was doing. Exasperated, over-and-over, he kept saying "How can you do what you do, without a clue about what you're doing!?!" The rest of the course didn't involve ANY guitar playing..... just me in front of a chalk board as he went through "whole step, whole step, half-step, scales, etc. Then I had homework on the guitar. I had to practice the named scales endlessly at home until I was smooth and accurate. I'd unknowingly been playing them all along, but running all over the neck to get the notes. Staying in scale allowed me to stay put in one fretboard position. To this day I can tell if a guitarist is school-trained or self-taught when he plays or even writes tablature; does he stay "in scale", or does he run all over the neck to hit the notes? The music professor was right. I resisted his way at first, but soon realized that my speed increased when I didn't have to scatter the frets to hit the same note. That was 40-years ago and I still have my notes and handouts from that class, and STILL refer to them from time to time. I've seen some killer self-taught guitarists, but I can tell anyone that the best way to learn guitar is to learn the theory and scales. It will also pay off if you learn any other instrument, be it a horn or keyboard because you know the theory and scales. If you wish to play any instrument, pay for the lessons --- it will make a lifetime of difference. I even learned to play the accordion of all things; by going to class.
Some people learn differently, Many people who learn by ear very inefficiently. I myself learnt theory later in life. However, I was always trying to economise my playing style. So I can work the whole fret board or keep it concise. Which is great because I never get lost. But that's because I was interested in Jazz. I notice a lot of self taught blues players go all over the place and loose their economy, restrict speed etc.
I rather people learn guitar by ear than not at all, not nearly enough people enjoy the wonder of guitar.
However, theory and the ability to learn by ear is by far the best system.
StichMethod Guitar Many people say that scales are useful and theory is the best way to learn, but I personally cannot see connection between knowing scales and applying it to real life experience. Some of the scales as I understood inverse of other and it looks like endless forrest of notes which i can learn but what then? how it is useful when song goes from one tonality to another or if I will have trouble to know in which scale the song is? How it helps if I cant determine the scale or if there more then one scale to apply? I understand chords and principle to build them, but how to jump from that to building it fast on the go is a mystery for me and I do not know how to get there yet.So if I see complication in song I use ear to resolve it without ever realising what chord I took really. It looks like I and perhaps many other miss some trick or connection that it could really move all forward and I simply do not know what it is in the first place to even start to learn it. May be you can sense that missing link and explain it like here you did with blues idea. It looks like something simple is missing but unknown. I've stumble on cage-trick it perhaps can help but since I heard about it I didnt progress too much yet, also I heard about circle of fifth but in practice it didnt work yet too. I think I can grasp it all because i do by ear songs that many other people cant but something on the way is missing. May be you can know what is it to the benefit of all and your teaching. I figured out all boxes once I saw one and how to build them along the board but until your lesson even though I think I could I didn't find time to memorise all of them. I also already understood how to calculate them and move from one to another and yet your way of putting it really helped in a practice. Good thread, there is a lot of people who can do a task, but do quite have clue of what they are really doing. So how could you teach someone else?

All the sweep picking, tapping, phrygian dominant, "join my super guitar system!!" videos you have to Wade through.... Or worse,"the Top 10 reasons why you need a Strat!", or, "This years coolest pedals!", or, "Treating my GAS: Unboxing a Core PRS 10Top"....
It can be a hard slog, with so much to distract you, to find your way in this guitar-o-verse... But finally! Someone teaching exactly the stage that I've been stuck at for the last year or so.
I know all my boxes backwards, I've got some elements of mixing major and minor scales in solos...I've learnt a tonne of blues licks I can throw in as I meander between the boxes. And I've learnt a lot of my Guitar heroe's solos (Slash and the like).
But everything kind of feels compartmentalized, and forced together. There's no musical direction. I'm just dropping licks one at a time in the right key.
Now this...this feels like the keys to the city! And it's all starting to come together!

Absolutely brilliant for memorizing the Pentatonic scales up and down the fretboard ........... Best explanation I have seen .... ever !!!!
Yes. In standard guitar tuning, the B string is "detuned", in that it not a perfect fourth higher than the G string; it is a major 3rd higher. (G to B) All other string relationships are a perfect fourth apart. E to A, A to D, D to G, G to B, and B to E. The B string is this way for playability of chords. If it was a perfect fourth, then the high E string would be a half-step higher, and that would really make playing many chords difficult.

Bought the lesson. I made a tube account just for this video. This is honestly the most helpful thing I have come across as pertaining to the minor pentatonic. For being new to the guitar and being stuck inside the same "box", this was literally an "ah-ha" moment and a breath of fresh air for creativity. I couldn't be happier with the purchase. I've been playing guitar for 10 years and I've never been told this in this way before. This is by far the best explanation of guitar construction and pentatonic use I've ever seen. I'm just not going to stop practicing. Thank you so much!
Ok, I’m a few days into this and wanted to give an update. I started knowing a couple of forms, but unable to connect the fretboard between them. On day one I got the “fan blade” down. Day two I set up two thirty minute practice sessions and by the end of the second day, second practice I had a big breakthrough. By day three I had all the forms down and could connect and play over the entire fretboard and easily find my root notes!
Picked up the guitar the next day to be sure it “stuck”, and it has. Once I understood the scale and neck, it became easy to play groups of notes together, as you could see the patterns clearly now, and am able to solo off of chords. I will be spending the next few sessions working in improving this.
There is no magic here. It is a simple, well thought out system but it takes a little time and work to get it. The beauty of the Stitch method is that it is laid out to minimize time and maximize effort so that you get the most out of it.

I ended up watching your vid by accident. But I'm glad I did. I happen to be a Bass player and was looking for someone else's way of thinking when it comes down to the pentatonic scale. I play this scale all of the time during practice, but never really tried using it while playing my Bass guitar. Now after watching your vid, I have a better understanding on how to use this scale. I'm not a soloist but I'm always looking for fills to try to make the tune more colorful. So thank you for your instrutual vid.

This is the greatest guitar lesson of all time. After researching the different pentatonic shapes, this explanation allowed me to CLEARLY see, as you said, how the guitar is designed, and how to navigate the fretboard.... Just wanted to say you are the best. Cant believe this is all available for free. Not just amazing guitar lessons, but lessons specifically geared to the music i love and the kind of playing i wish to play. Its like finding a guitar teacher, saying "hey man, im really just trying to improvise and sound like Jerry and Trey. I wish we had such great training material when I young. (1963 ) I could have been a Jimmy Page or Eric Clapton. ;) Now at ripe age of 66 I am starting again how to play the guitar for third time in my life. All makes sense now. I learned in one video more what would have taken me many month to learn the old fashioned way via a book. Well done. I have subscribed to your channel. Keep up producing such easy to learn material. Great stuff, I’ve commented on a few of your videos. Yourself, Brian Kelly, and pebber brown are my go to practice for theory. I’m really enjoying theory, I’ve been playing off and on for 40 years (wow,) but the past 15 years have been my escape from everyday life! I have found my passion at 62, and I spend easily 5 hours a day with you guys. I waited so long to learn guitar theory, as I’m a musician, and I played trumpet for many years. I moved away from notation when I really started focusing on technique, and being a lefty who plays right, I think I have unique problems from that. You are the most easily understood teacher for theory I think. Thanks steve

I've been messing with pentatonics for above a year now and this has been a real lightbulb moment. It's the first method I've found that gets me moving around the fretboard - and understanding how it's working. I've understood this at first watch but I'm looking forward to watching again and getting it down. This is great - many thanks.

I read in the comments that other charts are hand drawn ?! Is your Major Neverlost scale done with graphics like this or hand drawn ?!
This lesson is awesome!!! The concept is easy to wrap your head around. I just purchased the PDF...love the color coding on it. It makes it really easy to follow along with your video. I think I just unlocked the fretboard doing this one. Went down a couple frets to G, then using this run I saw that the G-scale will work it's way to up to 8-10 on the low strings, and so now I see where you got your E-scale (5-7 on the low) from in the lesson 'how to actually use a pentantonic scale'. Interesting.
Love the way you explain things. I've been accidentally putting my shapes together by sound but didn't really understand what I was doing. It makes a lot more sense now. Great video.

Goodness me I've put countless hours into learning how to play all 5 positions of the minor pentatonic and never realised this way of connecting the forms. Now I will never forget this. Thank you so much for this wonderful piece of information.
