Much better results with the kevlar. That first test was a fail in my opinion. The likely reason for all the spall to come out the bottom in the first test was the angle of the vest in relation to you. You were shooting slightly down at it. Bullet splash always follows the angle of attack. I would wear the kevlar coated for sure. Not so sure about the uncoated.
Thanks for the video. Been waiting for them to do a video since I bought 2 of their kevlar coated plates a year and a half ago and I think you beat em to the test
I will have to check that out, but I did not see anything come out of the sides of the kevlar. After being hit 26 times times I think it would still hold up rather well. If I am getting shot at, I am not sticking around long enough to get hit 26 times lol🤣🤣 thanks for pointing out something to check on🤘
My concern is that if you took a hit between front and back plates if it would ricochet through your chest. I'm sure there is some issue with this as well on ceramic plates but don't know. Never tested that myself and don't want to. Still, cool product evolution for steel plates.
@DropItLikeItsScott great to know!! Thanks for the clarification. because I have those exact ones in my plate carrier a police officer told me to get these
There are only a few companies that I will go with right now if things go sideways and Predator Armor is one of those companies. They are currently running sales on this armor
@@DropItLikeItsScott another question... Does the plate carrier allow you to get a firm butt stock hold in the shoulder without getting in the way? Some plate carriers get in the way of shouldering your rifle.
@@mintac3672 great question! I had no trouble shouldering my rifle, however I shoot a little on the higher side more of a cheek rest. This is from shooting AR Pistols more. There are also what they call "shooters cut" I'd like to review the difference between the two.
I'm not a fan of showing the person shooting in 1 frame and showing the results in another. it's always better to have over the shoulder viewing angles with everything in view to remove all doubt of the results.
Great test! I’m still skeptical of what’s coming out the bottom of the place. That could easily be a groin or leg artery problem if taking a round from a rifle, God forbid. But besides that it’s way better than the steel armour I’ve seen out there.
I can appreciate that concern. Yeah this is definitely way better that majority of steel plates that are out there and yep, that would be a bad day if something hit and created a exit at the bottom. This was hit with multiple rounds before anything started spalling from the bottom, this one took a beating before the exit at the bottom. I revisited this same plate and put 60 rounds into it to Destroy it and it got pulverized. Thanks for watching.
This video is going to upset the ceramic simps. Their only argument is "spalling".... well not only is this plate multi hit capable, but defeats spalling. My counter is always...in a situation where we will need body army. What happens to your ceramic when its taken 2-3 rounds, you have dropped it, banged it against walls, fell on it... Are you going to order new stuff when shit hits the fan? Will amazon deliver during SHTF? Also side note, When your ballistic coating fails, duct tape works pretty good. Not great but better than nothing. There are a few other YT videos showing how it holds up
I've shot Ceramic as well and after two shots with 5.56, it was toast. This is the one I went with for all my carriersalong with trauma pads. I say go with what you feel will best protect in SHTF scenarios. 🤘
I want to make a stare proof vest .. ? I could lie, and say that the prolonged glares from passersby don't offend me, but they do. Every decade seems like a week, and just a week ago I was young, and able to maintain an erection and experience the greater part of romance, which is emotional. Now, I'm just a great big fat belly walking around town with a 40oz. ?
The fact that you left the Carrier on it makes this one of the better tests that I've seen. ty
Thank you! Much appreciated 🙌
I love this brand for that design.

Great observation on the angle of the shots.🤘 I agree on the Kevlar coated. I would wear that one too and have some on the way for my personal use.
So glad i bought these. May get a second set... just because.
I agree, I'm ordering more too. Did you see my follow-up on this same piece? th-cam.com/video/ML4ZKhNeQUw/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for the video. Been waiting for them to do a video since I bought 2 of their kevlar coated plates a year and a half ago and I think you beat em to the test
Yeah, this was a successful test in my opinion and I also bought another set for myself 👊
8:29 I think a 556 slipped through there but above the plate. You can see the slightly bigger hole in the backing pattern.
I will have to check that out, but I did not see anything come out of the sides of the kevlar. After being hit 26 times times I think it would still hold up rather well. Just have to make sure you get the frag mitigation coating on steel armor.
Yes, the kevlar coating is perfect over top of the steel because it catches all fragments within the 1st 20 rounds
Even frag mitigation coating can fail after 1 shot.
You gonna hit that thing with some calipers?? Those come in AP now?
My concern is that if you took a hit between front and back plates if it would ricochet through your chest. I'm sure there is some issue with this as well on ceramic plates but don't know. Never tested that myself and don't want to. Still, cool product evolution for steel plates.
If you take a hit between the plates, you should’ve been wearing side plates.
When your shoot a plate full of lead does it become more heavy or less heavy
Definitely heavier
I'm very interested in Predator Body Armor! What type of outdoor shooting eye protection do you use?
Predator is great! I use Hunters HD Gold huntershdgold.com
Great review!
Thank you🤜🤛
When testing with shotgun rounds, you should probably use buck shot or slugs, not bird shot.
It was all I had with me at time of filming, but thanks🤘
@@DropItLikeItsScott fair enough! Something is better than nothing. I still enjoyed the video. Thanks for the science brother!
This made me more confident to purchase this armor as my first set I have a question could these plate stop green tip ?
Nice! I have this set in one of my carriers. Yep, it will stop green tip

Great video but would've been more helpful if you told us how far away you were with each weapon
10 yd for the pistol caliber
20 yards for the rifles
@DropItLikeItsScott great to know!! Thanks for the clarification. because I have those exact ones in my plate carrier a police officer told me to get these
We also added frag mitigation with the Kevlar did you?
Held up to the 5.56! Why not drill it with some more 7.62 or larger to see where it fails?!?
Maybe I'll take it back out and put more 7.62 in it.👍
Great test! Currently in the market for personal use, but also needed for The Tactical Games.
There are only a few companies that I will go with right now if things go sideways and Predator Armor is one of those companies. They are currently running sales on this armor
@@DropItLikeItsScott they were on my list of considerations. Thanks for the video... Could be the deciding factor. Was looking at AR500 also.
@@mintac3672 these are AR500 covered with kevlar 👍

Isn't the point of the Kevlar to mitigate spall and frag? No test for that?
It absorbed virtually everything. This test shows that Kevlar reduces fragmentation.
If there was spall it would have shredded the carrier
@@Scrap_Goblin exactly. The carrier would have been the control test
Anyone know the weight of each Kevlar coated plate
They are about 7lbs each
Why didn't you try 30-06 a they claim their lvl III stops @ 15yds😂
Didn't have that caliber at the time of filming.
Great test , very cool , thanks for sharing ,God bless !
Thank you! :)

Awesome Test Sir!!!!!!!! What is the rough market price on that one, did they let you know? Regardless, Kick but vid Scott!!! Appreciate it Sir!!!
Right now they are offering 2 kevlar plates for around $150ish.
I'm gonna get some for my family.
How much does one plate weight?
7.5 lbs
New Sub my man .. good stuff !!
Thank you!! Much appreciated 👊
Very nice!
Thanks brother!
Great video ! But I want to see a mag dump with 556 and 762. Lol before I pull the trigger on buying one
Here ya go th-cam.com/video/ML4ZKhNeQUw/w-d-xo.html
Armor will hold it. Fragments are the issue.
Impressing. That would save a life
Yes, I agree.
New subscriber!
Awesome! Thank you
Some large spawling from the 7.62😂
That was pieces of the cinder block getting hit by the bottom of plate.

A Standing Fire Ant Dance, lol! 🤣🤣🤣 You needed to tighten that vest to the block, lol! Great body armor though! It's a win!
😁 Yeah, I am getting this for myself.
@@DropItLikeItsScott of course you are! 🤣
12g slug missed the plate.
The buck shot BB's / pellets hit the top corner of the plate and broke the clasp and part of the cinder block👊
