Love the people adopting senior pets. In the shelter they can seem really aloof or angry, but usually they’re grieving because they’ve lost their person and are terrified by their new, horrible living situation. Give them love and patience; receive love and patience many times over ❤
When we go, we ask to meet the oldest and the one's who have been there the longest. Also, the ones who are most terrified. I other words,the ones least likely to he adopted.
My Herriot was "at least 12 years old" when I adopted her in 2020. Still going strong even without much vision or hearing. She is named after James Herriot the main character in All Creatures Great and Small (because my Herriot is both great and small).

I like names. Dibbs for a pet who was previously unwanted. Kia (k eye a) - wild girl from the marsh...LulaBelle - a sweet southern bloodhound I once knew...MooMoo - a pet with black and white markings like a dairy cow. Wade, Brooke, and Betsy Wetsy - really terrific water dogs! Why does no one ever name their wonderful pet Joy? Seems perfect.

Got my new kitty Mocha at a shelter…. She is cute and loving… but she has cattitude to spare…. She can be spicy…. But I like that… reminds me of my daughter.. does not take any s…. So have a wonderful, loving, at times mischievous and demanding 1 yr old brown tabby, would not trade her for the world… even my 7yr old big mush male has bonded with her now
