Thanks for this insipring speech. There is a silent but global movement of important discoveries about aging and genetic related deases since 2001 (full human genome transcription). Today, we can also highlight the role of telomeres reduction and mitochondrial "wastes" management in biological aging.
I hope research and public health organisations will preserve the benefits of this revolution and successfully build an ethical debate around it.

If the naked mole rats don't age, how do they die at 35 years of age?!!!

I thought of that too and smiled to myself imagining them being fully active and then just dropping dead!

So what did she find in the whale that works in preventing cancer? Funny how she seems to forget the conclusion of her sentence there..

    • @elpenguinoofmexico1388

Last sentence was incredibly unnecessary. If u rlly wanna know u should do ur own research on what she has wrote. And if u cant read the room, she says she doesnt know yet. She’s literally saying that at the time of the video, she’s taking bowhead whale cells and trying to experiment with the in the first place.

her point is that her approach to research is to study either closely-related animal species that have drastically different lifespans or animals with abnormal longevity in order to discover the mechanisms of aging and longevity. She clearly isn't focusing too specifically on explaining the mechanisms that different species have to extend their lifespans but rather giving a surface-level introduction to her research. I'm sure she has more specific findings, as you requested, that will satisfy you better. Just search her up and read her research, rather than giving unconstructive criticism from an 11-minute ted talk youtube video that clearly isn't aimed towards researchers with decades of experience.

So being bald and sometimes a bit blubbery helps you live longer???
