You don't simply listen to Pink Floyd...you EXPERIENCE them as you have just found out. Have a listen to Comfortably Numb...mind blowing song. Welcome to the Pink Floyd rabbit hole...it's a deep one.
Yes, Pink Floyd has so many awesome songs and you're right to say they are an experience. If you don't have respect and listen you might miss the nuances of what they're trying to say. I first started following Pink Floyd when I was in high school. Yes, I am a baby boomer. However their music is timeless . I graduated from high school in 1980, and Pink Floyd's The Wall was very popular that year. And just as a side, I did not totally appreciate the song comfortably numb until I became a drug addict and then I understood yep. The good news is I am clean and sober since 2010 I still love Pink Floyd. One of my favorite discoveries recently has been, learning to fly. It's an allegory probably all of our lives we don't know where we're going and we don't know what it takes but we just jump into it because that's the only choice have faith and not fear. Thank you bye-bye
“Back then”, the band was the star. People weren’t so self absorbed that they had to have their name branded on the product. Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, The Doors, ZZTOP, The Guess Who, The Eagles, are all bands loaded with world class musicians, and amazing vocalists, but rather than the individual, the band was the star 💫 We may be old now, but we had the coolest cars, the greatest chicks, and best music ever made, and that music will live forever. ✌🏼😎
Amen Randy. The artists now a days often don't even write their own music and then add it autotune and all that stuff and modern music falls short compared to the classics
so glad I scrolled the comments before leaving my own. I second your opinion to the Nth degree!!! Back then, everything was better, we had the best music. I graduated in '85, we lived in a great time of music, from the music our parents introduced us too, to our earliest recognition of The Guess Who and other great artists on the radio to the Eagles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, etc...
The song is about the original co-founder of the band, Syd Barrett, who had mental problems made worse by using "acid" and had to be dropped from the band when he became unreliable. Pink Floyd are masters of emotion, ambience, and their instruments... they'll take you to worlds yet undreamt. Peace, love and bellbottoms from Canada.
"Wish You Were Here" Meaning Like most of the songs on the album, Wish You Were Here is dedicated to the band's founder and former frontman, Syd Barrett, who was estranged from the group in 1968 due to serious mental problems caused by continued drug abuse. In reality this phrase is not associated with Syd Barrett, as many people think. Waters himself explained that in reality the "I wish you were here" was aimed at himself, being in a sense an internal monologue. The text is much more universal than you think. The question mark that arises is: "Can you be free even though life holds so many obstacles for you, or are you stuck (in a cage) until the end of your days?" Are you able to change, to adapt and not to remain stuck at the starting point until the end?
@@lucianaciolfi Waters and Gilmour have said (their own words) in "The Story of Wish You Were Here" that it's not ABOUT Syd (i.e. written with him in mind), even if they both dedicate it to him sometimes in gigs. That was my point to the OP.
@@psbarrow Yes, that's exactly what I said. 👌 The song is not designed for him but is dedicated to him during concerts. Among other things, the whole career of the group, in one way or another, revolves around the figure of Barrett and I find it a beautiful and touching thing, that they have remembered him all these years.
@@lucianaciolfi The legend also has it that when they were recording it, Syd had wondered into the studio that day unannounced and none of the band members recognized him. Not sure if it's true or urban legend, I'd like to believe it is.
I love watching your reactions because you dont just listen and then decide if you like it or not. You LISTEN. You think. You take on every song with an open mind and seek understanding. You appreciate the differences between todays digital music, and yesterdays bands. It restores my faith in humanity to see young people broaden their horizons by stepping out of their comfort zone to explore new things.
It’s hard to explain the importance and influence of Pink Floyd because even the words ICONIC and G.O.A.T. is an understatement. This band wrote songs from such an introspective and pure place over the course of 40+ years and no other band could touch them. I highly recommend that you dive headfirst into this rabbit hole, my friend, because they will change you spiritually forever. I feel confident that if you react to the album DARK SIDE OF THE MOON in order (very important!) that you will understand what I mean.
Interesting commentary, young fellow. I think a lot of us classic rockers feel that digital recording tech has gutted the soul out of music. We (and I, as a guitarist for 60 years) regarded musicianship and lyric composition as most important, not today's digi-crap. 🕊️✌️🤗
Amen bro you’re absolutely correct when you had band like Floyd the Eagles Foghat all the old bands that created their music none of this computer crap that’s being put out today guys don’t even write their own music no more
It always makes me smile when one discovers Pink Floyd for the 1st time, you’re very perceptive that PF music takes you to a different place. I’m a fan since the 70’s & still love the band. Maybe also react to “Time” it will make you think as do all their songs. David Gilmour is the genius guitarist & singer
Pink Floyd is the ultimate chill rock! To this day, every once in a while, I will smoke a blunt, put on the headphones and listen to a random album of theirs and get lost for 90 minutes or so!
Oh Child, you got it! I am 77, still big fan of Pink Floyd, and love it when one of you young reactors really get it! That "other place" is what we were searching for back then, and Pink Floyd was one of the bands that took us there. Love.
yes, you did it. Pink Floyds music makes you just listening, thinking, feeling. Sitting down and relaxing and dinving into the the pink floyd sound. And yeah, it is gold to see how that "old" music touches young people like you today.
'is that a person in the back".... yes that is the singer of this song, who is also the guitar player, vocalizing the notes as he's playing. This is such an understated song, by Pink Floyd standards anyway, yet one of their best because it still takes you there. Not super representative of most of their songs, but the chill vibe and deeply profound lyrics, for sure
A huge component of experiencing music is watching master musicians create their magic in front of you. The excitement and vibration from live music cannot be replicated by digital appliances.
man, I'm just a random guy here, and I just saw you swinging so beautifully to this song. I don't know if you're pretending to hear it for the first time or if you're really hearing it for the first time, but however you hear it, you hear it beautifully, and that moves me. peace, greetings from Poland!
You need listen to Comfortably Numb live from the Pulse concert to see what kind of trip these guys can take you on. I promise you will not be disappointed Btw spot in reaction
Knowing the meaning behind the song, completely changes the experience. This song is about a former member of the band. Unfortunately the member went literally insane. This is a tribute to Sid, as how much he is missed by his band mates.
I think my favorite thing about reaction videos is having young people see/feel music i have been listening to for many decades. Gives me a new perspective thru your eyes. Pretty cool.
You're simply scratching the surface here my friend. Dig deep. One of the most influential bands of all time. Well worth seeking out as much as you can....
Thank you for the reaction, I hope you enjoyed chilling out after. Just something you said about having more time when you were a kid - Pink Floyd have the song that describes that perfectly. “Time” is an absolute masterpiece (as is Wish You Were Here) where the music fits the vibe of the lyrics about how you pass through time in your life. If you get the chance, take a listen.
Listened to this album one Friday evening in a warehouse in Chicago. My treat. Bunch of trainers and staff. I'd spent the day teaching them to climb telephone phones for a living. (I went out mid-day in my business suit, strapped on the gaffs, and climbed the pole in front of them that way, to show them it wasn't hard - already had years of experience myself). So we sat down in the warehouse, cooler full of beer, and I had them hear this album. MINDS BLOWN. Every single cadet showed up Monday for further training. Got a lot of Black people jobs in Chicago. Signed - an old white guy Vietnam vet.
It will help to remember the time period as well. We didnt have instant access to friends. If you called your friend from the only ohone in the house which was in the kitchen on a short cord, and no one was home, the phone just kept ringing, not even answering machines in those days. You had no idea where your friend was. So we were on our own a lot and had time to think and wish someone was there.
Back in the 70's we listened and watched a laser show on a domed screen - at the Ruben H Fleet center in San Diego. It was all just Pink Floyd's music. They would move the lasers so fast it would create pictures to the song. Wish they would bring it back.
You keep doing all these songs 🎵that hold so many wonderful memories for me. That's cool 😎 thanks. WE'RE JUST 2 LOST SOULS SWIMMIN IN A FISH BOWL YEAR AFTER YEAR. Takes me right back to the good ole days. ☮☯️🎶
I was 15 and bugged mom to get me this for Christmas (money was tight, it was the BIG present). Christmas morning I dug it out of the presents , back to my bedroom and played it four of five times. Then took it downstairs where the rest of the family were doing christmassy stuff and insisted they let me put it on the stereogram (look it up). I eventually got used to having the album missing from my room and finding mom had been listening to it when I was at school.
Ok so with Floyd they have been described as the thinking man's rock band , their Pulse concert is EPIC!!! A MUST SEE!! Also their albums have been described as stories from the first song on the album the story continues to the last song. You hit the nail on the head yes lights down and chill to Floyd!
Listen to Dark Side of the Moon, in it's entirety and you will be a Pink Floyd fan for life. Greatest rock album ever composed. The album tells a story and it's made to be listen from start to finish.
I was a teenager in the 60’s and 70’s and what a great time to be alive! New music on the radio every day! The changes through those years were awesome. I’m a 70 year old lady and I went to a lot of concerts. Back then there were no pyrotechnics, no flames, just musicians playing their instruments. Concert tickets were reasonably priced and I went to a few summer jams at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. What great memories. Thanks 🙏🏼👵🏼☮️❤️
For those who don't know, and to your point, TooBlunt, of traveling bands, back in the day... British Rock band "Pink Floyd" was named after two American traveling "Blues Men"; Pink Anderson & Floyd Council in Pink Floyd's founding member Syd Barret's record collection. My favorite PF song is "Welcome To The Machine". If you have not heard it yet, I highly suggest it. Peace.
It's not, "the singer needed a band" it's the singer is IN the band. 👍🏽😁 The instrumentalists are just as important as the singer. The music is just as important as the lyrics. Especially when different people sing Lead on different songs, and any number of instrumentalists are also Backing Vocalists. It is a group effort instead of one ego.
Pink Floyd is an album band. You throw the album on the turntable, sit down, and listen. Lots of their songs flow right into the next song on the album. They are a hugely influential psychedelic band. Their albums tell stories. Try "Comfortably Numb," "Money," "Run Like Hell," and then try " Shine On You Crazy Diamond." If you read their history, you'll read about Syd Barrett, the original leader and principal songwriter. Syd had some latent mental health issues that were exacerbated by his prolific use of LSD. He would stand without playing guitar or singing at gigs. He'd turn his back on the audience. The band ultimately brought in David Gilmore to play lead guitar and provide vocals. "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" and a few other songs were written as tribute to Syd.
😶🌫️The POWER of "A Band" is undeniable. Modern music is great but nothing will ever be as magnificent as musicians in sync🥇 The band members went to the Royal Academy of Music 😜
Bro I tell everyone who decides to react to Pink Floyd you can’t just do one song from an album of Pink Floyd. Every Pink Floyd album tells a story. And skipping around will cause most to not be able to full experience the story being told. David Gilmour is a guitar god! I suggest you take the time to either do one long reaction to the whole album or do the songs in succession. One does not simply listen to Pink Floyd one experiences. This album Wish You Were Here was a dedication to Syd Barrett who was the original frontman. Also you should go and check out some of David Gilmour’s live performances especially from Live in Gdańsk or live in Pompeii.
Welcome down the rabbit hole that is Pink Floyd. They were way ahead of their time. So many more of their songs can take you on so many other journeys... Pick any of them. The most popular are probably Money, Comfortably Numb, Time, Great Gig In the Sky (I prefer the original album cut that has Clare Torry doing all the vocals), Learning to Fly, Shine on You Crazy Diamond, Dogs, Pigs on the Wing, Sheep, etc... Too many to list... Lol. Have a great journey...
I very much appreciate that you are experiencing this music exactly as it should be. You are listening so closely to the lyrics. You’re also analyzing the lyrics so deeply. You’re letting yourself be moved by the music when you feel it. This is super fucking dorky to say but it’s like you are listening with your heart. It’s delightful to watch.
Thank you for reaching to these beautiful Pink Floyd songs. Please watch the movie called Pink Floyd, The Wall. The story will give you insight to the lyrics.i think I have the DVD and would be happy to send it to you if you would like it. I think it's also widely available to stream.
You have barely touched the “Event Horizon” of Pink Floyd. Your reaction to this spot is RIGHT ON! Don’t stop with this song. Anything from Dark Side Of The Moon will leave you mellow and thought provoked. Listen to Time
Excellent Song ! My favorite verse is " we're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl year after year" I think you would enjoy "Mother" too. I played this on repeat when my sis OD'd a few years ago. Music is one of the best forms of therapy...
There is nothing like listening to a live band people creating music. It can't duplicated its an art form all on it's own it's not pressing a key on a keyboard and using music and melodies that someone else created people have been creating soulful music for generation they produced something that is unique that gave them the honer of being called an artist
Great song, need to check out Pulse concert 1994. Comfortably Numb or Sorrow will blow you away, especially if you love guitar solos. There is no better band or experience than Pink Floyd, especially in concert. Unfortunately for you youngins, the band did last tour in 1994 and Rick Wright, keyboards, has sadly passed away which ended Pink Floyd. But their music will live on forever!
Us and them is a great song, and Any colour you like, at Brighton, is the best version of this song, Nick Mason's drumming is brilliant. Good reaction.
Your dream feeling whilst listening to Floyd - now imagine it in a darkened room with your eyes closed whilst stoned out of your box. That’s how Floyd should be listened to.
Pink Floyd is Legendary, they are a Vibe. Their music takes you on a cerebral journey! Check out the studio version of "Time" on the "Dark Side of the Moon" album from 1973.
Your final analysis of what PF music is all about is spot on. It's meant to be enjoyed in a relaxing environment, laid back after a long day. Sipping on a fine bourbon or wine or what ever relaxes you. It's meant to get lost in the music. PF is the master of "space" in their notes. When other bands of this era we're doing 5 min guitar solos, PF was layering in feelings and depth. It was GREAT back then and it's GREAT today.
If you want to see the guys... Either Pink Floyd "Comfortably Numb" Live Pulse Concert a "later in their career" show with a drop dead guitar solo Or Pink Floyd "Echoes (Part 1)" Live at Pompeii 1972 (the main 4 piece line-up) No lights, No Audience.... Just genius 😉😎
I absolutely appreciate and love the way you are experiencing different music. Life is too short to listen to only one type of music. Down with digital crap. So not real, ya know. I hate fake shit.
in the 70's when I was a teenager, this was what we listened to while getting high. I would promote you to try that, for the full experience. back when the bands had talent, and played their instruments with great skill.
Like alot of their classics one can interperet in their own way , chillin on the beach sounds great. Hope you have watched the live show to see n hear the guitar solo with voice over. Truly amazing gift to have ..
Great reaction! Your comments are on point - especially considering it's your first time listening to the song. What makes Pink Floyd great is your reaction to the song will change over the course of your life. Try listening again a year from now or 10 years from now and you may have a completely different interpretation. There's a lot of great suggestions on here for other songs but I think to truly appreciate Pink Floyd you have to listen to their albums in their entirety because the context matters in how one song leads in to the other and how the album as a whole builds and comes together. My personal favorite albums are: Dark Side of the Moon Animals The Wall
This video is 2 years old when I’m watching this tonight. I’ve watched several of your Pink Floyed Videos tonight, and your journey has been a fun ride. You certainly did not see the train coming. It’s fun for an old woman to think, just wait for it.
With Pink Floyd, you have to listen to the whole album. Not just one song off of their albums, especially this album and "Dark Side of the Moon." In fact, both albums have beginning and an ending that simply loops the listener into listening to it again and again over and over. I've left each of these albums in my car's cd player for months at a time. Absolutely great music to cruise down the highway. Chills you out in intense traffic and mellows you out when you have the highway to yourself and are taking in the great scenery. These two albums never get old. I've listened to both thousands and thousands of times.
I think Pink Floyd reactions are some of the best when someone's never heard them before. It's like watching a life being born before your eyes. There's life before Floyd, and life thereafter. :)
While I assume you will be listening to Pink Floyd song by song for your channel I would recommend that at some point listening (real good set of headphones!) to The Wall from start to finish. Like Tommy by The Who it is an Opera. Some songs will stick out as the singles they are, but, the whole story told within that album is amazing. The movie they made of it was crazy as well.
Fun facts... people used too like getting high and listening to Pink Floyd , the police code for going on a drug bust was a 4-20. Some Classic rock stations have 4:20 Floyd ( they play Pink Floyd songs at 4:20pm) Time for after work chillen... great reaction, sometimes you gotta rock, sometimes you gotta chill. Enjoy the ride...
You should check out Have A Cigar.. it's their poke at the music industry. Their whole catalog is a trip. Even the newer stuff like Learning To Fly. It's literally about wishing he could fly like a bird.
I love listening to you analyze the music, and you really hit on the critical shift in music which occured when the need for a band became obsolete. Tragically. Because there's such synergistic energy in a band. There's something transcendent about an ensemble so in tune with each other and so tightly connected, that compiled 'music' just can not match. Even the lyrics where people are obviously thinking deeply and communicating with each other...collaborating. Most 'popular' music these days just doesn't have this depth.
A great deal of the digital music that is being remixed now was recorded by these bands from the 70s and 80s. And yes, the bands mattered greatly. The Eagles had multiple songwriters, multiple lead guitarists, and multiple lead singers; Supertramp had five great musicians, two great songwriters and two lead singers; the Doors had a jazz trained drummer, a classically trained keyboardist, a flamenco trained guitarist, and a poet for a lead singer; and on and on...
We enjoyed bands back then, You got to appreciate all musicians for their talent which would be a collaboration. And still listen to them because they burn into your soul. The song is about losing someone dear to you. Having those moments when you just want them back,
Great reaction! I'm witnessing a young man on the precipice of a long, amazing journey through the music of my youth. So many suggestions to make! Queen, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd are deep rabbit holes, as are many bands from the 60s and 70s, and other listeners can recommend from their incredible catalogs. I'm a new subscriber and cannot wait until you get into the antiwar protest songs of the late 60s and discover the many great singers and musicians from that period. Your must-listens began with this, 'Bohemian Rhapsody' and 'Whole Lotta Love', but you should soon do videos of The Rolling Stones 'Sympathy for the Devil' and ' Gimme Shelter,' 'Roundabout' from Yes, 'Baba O'Riley' from The Who, 'Sledgehammer' from Peter Gabriel and '2112' by Rush. I would also love to watch your reaction to 'Black Betty' by Ram Jam (almost a parody of the style) and "Hocus Pocus' by Focus (enough said). Enjoy your journey, Grasshopper!
To get a great idea of what Pink Floyd are, you really need to listen to Dark Side of the Moon. One of the best selling albums of all time and a masterpiece of music design. It's a concept album with tracks flowing one into the next. Plus, as others have said - Comfortably Numb from the Pulse show in 1995. David Gilmour delivers two of the most amazing solo's and is the best version of their song ever.
Even way back then there were singers with hired backing musicians, and bands used studio session musicians too. But Pink Floyd, like many, many other bands, were a group of artists who created music collectively. Individual members might write a melody or a lyric, but the final recording was made by all of them together.
@TooBlunt Your final comment nailed it perfectly. People spend their first 18-21 years of their lives wishing they were older. And the rest of their lives, wishing they were younger!
The album is a tribute to Syd Barret, one of the original members of the band. The previous album the Dark side of the moon album is the longest ever on the bilboard, from 1973. Listen to it from the first song till the last. every tune fits together. And you`re right, everything was done manually back then. Also try out the pulse consert from 94, every song that matters is on there. You wont live to regret it. You have my word.
Back in O.C. Calif when I was 30 my wife heard a commercial on the radio about a P.F. show coming up. Knowing I am a Floyd fan she called the radio station (KMET - LA, “The Mighty Met”) to get information on the concert, The DJ on live radio Cynthia Fox…. said...."Congratulations, YOU are caller number 10, YOU just won tickets to the show and the Sound Check Party before the show"... I met David Gilmour back stage. He gave us both a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I told him his music will stand the test of time with anything from Beethoven or Mozart. He smiled even bigger. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know. . I told him in my eyes he’s a “Legend“. He thanked me and said “Enjoy the show”…. during the concert after the song “Money” he looked right at me and said…. “On saxophone, another Legend, Mr. Raphael Ravenscroft” … acknowledging my comment to him. It is my favorite moment in over 300 shows I’ve seen. I asked David…. How do you create those awesome solos?… he said….. I sit on a stool and listen to what Roger, Nick and Rick put down and play along. I listen to what I played and pick out what I like, then I put the pieces together into one piece then learn to play it as one. Our fans are fanatics for our shows to sound like the albums so I must play it correctly each time in a show. I have the concert Brochure and album on the wall with David’s picture centerfold.
Comfortably Numb live. Pulse concert. it's EPIC!!! Completely different; and yet still the same, as the studio version except the musicianship of the performers. Huge stage and production value. Nobody is running around but there's a lot going on. Incredibly moving.
You have to watch David Gilmore actually playing his guitar. It's like he's just leisurely taking a stroll. He plays like he's channeling the music. It's mesmerizing. He's just standing there and magic is flowing out of his instrument. I only mention this because from watching your Pink Floyd reactions, you are getting it and I thought might enjoy and appreciate it. ✌
This is one of my favorite songs and when you read the lyrics for the first part of, the choices, you get an appreciation for the picture they’re painting with the words. Like you said, consequences for the choices made. Great reactions! You should react to “Another Brick In The Wall” and “Money” from them as well as “Comfortably Numb”. Pink Floyd was one of the best bands in rock.
My brother took me to see Pink Floyd - The Wall in New York for 1 of 3 shows performed on the east coast in 1980 when I was 7. I have easily seen over 100 bands live, probably a lot more, and to this day it is still the best, and most amazing live performance I've ever experienced. Their guitarist, David Gilmour, is, in my opinion, the best guitar player in my selection of idols, and made me switch from violin to guitar at age 6. He may not utilize all of the tricks modern players do, may not be the most technically capable, and doesn't play a thousand notes a measure but he can write a riff or solo with 5 notes that you feel in your soul if compared to any shredder or guitar prodigy. For 43 years I have never started the first track of any "Pink Floyd" album from, "Meddle" on, and NOT listened to the entire album through to the end of the last track. Like you touched on here, I completely disassociate from the world and am transported to my happy place when I listen to them. I believe you will feel it the more you listen to them. May I recommend you listed to tracks 1 and 2, "Pigs on the Wing part 1" and "Dogs", together. "Pigs" is only 1:25 long but "Dogs" is 17 min +. I think this would be a great warmup leading into what is, without question, the best concept album in history. I'm really excited you started this journey. I wish I could do it again but after all these years it still has lost absolutely none of its awe and splendor.
@@2cawwa2 Thank you bro. Great to hear of someone else that was able to witness the magic. It wasn't my first show but it changed my life. First show was my mom taking me to see Elvis in Chicago when I was 3 or 4. I only remember seeing the light reflecting off his jumpsuit but that sealed the deal before I could write my name.
You don't simply listen to Pink Floyd...you EXPERIENCE them as you have just found out. Have a listen to Comfortably Numb...mind blowing song. Welcome to the Pink Floyd rabbit hole...it's a deep one.
Live from Pulse tour for sure, probably best guitar solo ever.

This song still makes me cry every time even after 40 odd years
Absent friends and as you get older more of them become absent
Getting old sucks but it sure beats the alternative.
Comes with most of us that grew up on classic rock. Peace outl.
So l’m not the only one to have same reaction to this song. I bought the LP just before Christmas 1975…
Yes, this!! 👆😢😭
Me too. Every time. I love the song so much but dammit! I don't want to cry everytime.

Pink Floyd are masters of emotion, ambience, and their instruments... they'll take you to worlds yet undreamt. Peace, love and bellbottoms from Canada.
This song is NOT about Syd, as Waters and Gilmour have said.
"Wish You Were Here"
Meaning
Like most of the songs on the album, Wish You Were Here is dedicated to the band's founder and former frontman, Syd Barrett, who was estranged from the group in 1968 due to serious mental problems caused by continued drug abuse.
In reality this phrase is not associated with Syd Barrett, as many people think. Waters himself explained that in reality the "I wish you were here" was aimed at himself, being in a sense an internal monologue.
The text is much more universal than you think. The question mark that arises is: "Can you be free even though life holds so many obstacles for you, or are you stuck (in a cage) until the end of your days?"
Are you able to change, to adapt and not to remain stuck at the starting point until the end?
@@lucianaciolfi Waters and Gilmour have said (their own words) in "The Story of Wish You Were Here" that it's not ABOUT Syd (i.e. written with him in mind), even if they both dedicate it to him sometimes in gigs. That was my point to the OP.
@@psbarrow Yes, that's exactly what I said. 👌
The song is not designed for him but is dedicated to him during concerts.

You appreciate the differences between todays digital music, and yesterdays bands. It restores my faith in humanity to see young people broaden their horizons by stepping out of their comfort zone to explore new things.
:) thank you for noticing that. And thank you for commenting. Comments like this really motivates me to continue posting videos ❤️
@@TooBlunt More Pink Floyd soon, please!
I totally agree with you! TooBlunt is my favorite reaction channel…he’s much more than the “average reactor “ 😊
My thoughts too@@lisa-gayle9939
It’s hard to explain the importance and influence of Pink Floyd because even the words ICONIC and G.O.A.T. is an understatement. This band wrote songs from such an introspective and pure place over the course of 40+ years and no other band could touch them. I highly recommend that you dive headfirst into this rabbit hole, my friend, because they will change you spiritually forever. I feel confident that if you react to the album DARK SIDE OF THE MOON in order (very important!) that you will understand what I mean.
It is very importnat that you listen with gapless playback! Listen to the CD don't stream!
Pink Floyd definitely takes you on a journey. 🌈💗
Pink Floyd is for the ADVANCED music listener. Enjoy the ride,,,,👍👍👍😎
I do that quite often 🎧🎶
😙💨
The best conversations and the greatest thoughts that I've ever had were held/conceived in a room with Pink Floyd playing in the background.
Don't forget the s.e.x.
Been into Floyd since late 70's amazing group.along with led zep &Queen.
You are so highly intelligent. I love your reactions to Pink Floyd. I love this band. They have a whole series of songs that are FABULOUS!
You need listen to Comfortably Numb live from the Pulse concert to see what kind of trip these guys can take you on. I promise you will not be disappointed Btw spot in reaction
For sure
Oll live PULSE !!!!!!
Just remember, it isn't Pink Floyd without Roger Stone.
@@tragicdeyz2641 do you mean Roger Waters?
I suggest listening to the studio version first.
Syd Barrett created Pink Floyd, and Pink Floyd never forgot him.
Peace.
people have always thought "floyd" was a member of the band. they even mention it in "have a cigar" brilliant song, worth a reaction to
It's not, "the singer needed a band" it's the singer is IN the band. 👍🏽😁 The instrumentalists are just as important as the singer. The music is just as important as the lyrics. Especially when different people sing Lead on different songs, and any number of instrumentalists are also Backing Vocalists. It is a group effort instead of one ego.
Bingo guy. Mick Jagger is not the Rolling Stones. It takes all of them under that name.
exactly!
I will ask again. Can anyone name Justin Biebers band.
Next question who cares!
Yes sir. And not always a single lead singer. Journey, Bee Gees, Beach Boys. Etc.
Some bands, like Jethro Tull, were centered on one performer. Tull is still putting out albums.
Yes that's the singer singing along with the solo perfectly.
Modern music is great but nothing will ever be as magnificent as musicians in sync🥇 The band members went to the Royal Academy of Music 😜
thanks - you happened to select my favorite by PF (I'm OLD) .. but I hope you hear many more.. they are amazing and unique.. lol
I miss the old days...when there was a live band...great job Tooblunt...go deeper down the rabbit hole that is PINK FLOYD
I am 70 years old and I tear up every time I hear this song takes me back when I was a young man
It amazes me how timeless Floyd's music is. 30 years from now another generation will be saying the same things about them.
The song, Hey You, is my favorite right after Comfortably Numb.also from this album
I like how closely you paid attention to the meaning/lyrics. It shows you are entering the Floyd sphere. Welcome Friend!
Dive deep down the Pink Floyd rabbit hole. I promise it’ll be worth it! Try “Time” “Dark side of the moon” or “Comfortably Numb” enjoy ✌️
Played this at my brother's memorial...chills. God bless
Now that’s music. After the 70’s no decade compared!
These bands were so "far out" makes me feel nostalgic and very cool. A great time to be young and alive, grooving on these vibes
Try pink floyd playing "comfortably numb" live at the PULSE concert. will blow your mind.
Us and them is a great song, and Any colour you like, at Brighton, is the best version of this song, Nick Mason's drumming is brilliant. Good reaction.
Excellent reaction. You get Pink Floyd. Listen to "Time" or "Comfortably Numb" if you REALLY want to zone out.
Either
Pink Floyd "Comfortably Numb" Live Pulse Concert a "later in their career" show with a drop dead guitar solo
Or
Pink Floyd "Echoes (Part 1)" Live at Pompeii 1972 (the main 4 piece line-up)
No lights, No Audience.... Just genius 😉😎
Agree with both these suggestions, give them a whirl.
I absolutely appreciate and love the way you are experiencing different music. Life is too short to listen to only one type of music. Down with digital crap. So not real, ya know. I hate fake shit.
the live Pulse version will blow your mind. Check out anything from the pulse concert
in the 70's when I was a teenager, this was what we listened to while getting high. I would promote you to try that, for the full experience. back when the bands had talent, and played their instruments with great skill.
Lol y 2
Dude... watching you react a 2nd time... I'm lovin the intense glaze in your eyes as the music allows you to trip on sound. No meds needed...
Like alot of their classics one can interperet in their own way , chillin on the beach sounds great. Hope you have watched the live show to see n hear the guitar solo with voice over. Truly amazing gift to have ..
Real musicians still create real music using real instruments to this day.
My personal favorite albums are:
Dark Side of the Moon
Animals
The Wall
Definitely have a listen to "Shine On you Crazy Diamond", "Time" or another of my favourites, "One of These Days".
Have to check out Pink Floyd's, 'Time'. Great song with thought provoking lyrics. You will love it!
I’m so glad to see this! Pink Floyd is my go to place when I need to relax and meditate!
Haha…your description is dead on! Back in the day this kind of music was called “Head music”. I love that it still has that affect. Much love
Welcome to the wonderful world of The Floyd.
Favorite Band Ever. Best music ever. Got one of their logos tattooed. One of 2 total tattoos.
Pink Floyd is its own experience.. lovelovelove ❤️✌🏻🌸
Even way back then there were singers with hired backing musicians, and bands used studio session musicians too. But Pink Floyd, like many, many other bands, were a group of artists who created music collectively. Individual members might write a melody or a lyric, but the final recording was made by all of them together.
I really love how you're experiencing timeless music of the 70s and 80s💕 rock on 👍
@TooBlunt
Your final comment nailed it perfectly.
Completely different; and yet still the same, as the studio version except the musicianship
of the performers.
At the end, it is David Gilmore singing the notes he is playing. I've seen him do it. Live. Got watch it live
You just get it! Great channel - thank you for really listening to the lyrics and the music created. Carry on!
You are just beginning to hear from the best band EVER!!! They take you on a journey for sure! They are the G.O.A.T.
Im ready for it :)
