I "enjoy" guitar players like Mark Knopfler, and am "impressed" by players like Steve Vai or Joe Satriani. Guitar shredders like Eddie Van Halen or Randy Rhodes are "killer" But the playing of David Gilmour, whether electric or acoustic, is the only guitar that takes my brain and my very soul to a whole other realm. I genuinely feel sorry for those who have never taken the time to listen to his artistry.

"Just how did a band named for two Georgia bluesman, 'Pink' Anderson [1900--1974] and 'Floyd' Council [1911--1976], journey from England’s idyllic Cambridge to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio?
From its beginnings as an improvising blues-band psychedelic band with pop hit singles to a period when journalists insisted on describing 'Pink Floyd', mistakenly as “electronic rockers”; from the ubiquitous to being the first rock band played in space; from tales of an underwear thief to the doom and gloom of , 'Pink Floyd' have always been bigger, better and braver than the rest." The best part of Unplugged is getting to hear the bones of the song, so to speak--the structure of it without the layers of studio tracks. It's not perfect, it's not smoothed-off edges and all that. It's the song and the singer, and the musicians all there creating it live. And this one is perfect for that. Sad, sweet, full of beauty and poetry. Love it.

He passed away suddenly last July & the last picture I have of us together he is wearing a Pink Floyd shirt. The day of his funeral, I was driving & this song came on & I knew it was him telling me he was still with us & everything was alright. Such a great song and I have always really loved David Gilmour's sound and playing style, just the way he's able to bend the strings and all. As I recall, they wrote this song as a dedication to Syd Barrett (the band's original singer/frontman) after he suffered a mental breakdown and eventually passed due to a drug overdose. Love the Channel, keep 'em comin' Jamel! Peace Out.

I think it was in this concert that none other than Sir Bob Geldof himself got on the stage to give a rendition of Comfortably Numb, a track form the revolutionary movie he starred! It's worth the watch... or the other duet version with David Bowie!

An underrated part of their musicality was their ability to jam. Their live versions are like completely different songs. Take “Embryo” studio v. BBC live. Perhaps David didn’t play on the original, but he does on the live and the addition of his guitar work greatly benefits the song.

this is my favourite version of this song. you haven't reacted to David's solo work, before, i don't think. there's a lot that has his unique vibe. there are 3 live concerts that are really great. one called, 'Remember That Night'. the song, On An Island, from that concert is really amazing. Crosby and Nash support him as backing singers. the second is the Gdansk concert. my favourite version of Echoes, The Blue, Fat Old Sun, Great Day For Freedom, are my favourites from that. Pompeii, 2016 includes, A Boat Lies Waiting [in memory of Richard Wright] In Any Tongue, What Do You Want From Me and Faces Of Stone are my favourites from that.

Michael Kamen playing piano..... one of the most incredible musicians who not enough people know..... he wrote orchestral parts for everyone. From Pink Floyd, to Queen, to Kate Bush.... then his film scores..... a truly truly wonderful man. Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, Robin Hood. Check out the film Highlander..... incredible score. RIP.

Grew up as a foster kid, my adoptive fathers family history is German and he was a computer technician and worked on the modern wifi. He's still alive but burned out from work. But he always made me listen to a variety of music. From classical to rap to techno, and this was the late 80s early 90s

My parents grew up in the big band era and loved the bands and the crooners. We listened to their music but they encouraged us to stretch our wings and listen to whatever we wanted to. Whoever got to the radio or record player first had control . . . except Sunday afternoons when Mom did her baking. She had total control of the kitchen radio
