    Very good information mam thank you I have some rose plants in my garden the stem of my rose is also split just what you showed. Now I learned after watching your video thank you for sharing this video

      I'm glad the video helped you to identify the split in the stem of your rose plant! Look out for the little caterpillar-like larvae, they can eat their way through a lot of leaves very quickly! 🌻

    I'm always in two minds when I spot these large rose sawflies. They're so fascinating, but I know they're munching their way through my precious rose plants!

    OMG that looks awful! I don’t think we have this particular parasite in Australia, for which I am very grateful.

      It does look dramatic doesn’t it! Thankfully it doesn’t seriously harm the plant, although it can make the rose look extremely bare for some time. I must admit I do think the larvae are actually quite cute! Happy gardening 🌸
