    Do you like and would you use the TapFly mode for the DJI Mavic Air?
    Mavic Pro by the way only has forward TapFly mode :(
    4 Mavic Air Videos left before the giveaway :)
    Good luck!

      TapFly on Mavic Air is so cool! I like the 'Free flight' but what's with the 'Zeebra Stripes' on the screen? 🤔

      droneXfactor I am still not comfortable enough yet with some of these modes.. it makes me nervous, but your videos are great to learn and build up a drone operators confidence!!!

      Thanks for the video, I will definitely try the forward option first. No one ever mentions what stops the forward drone movement. Does it stop automatically?

    Can you set the speed faster if you disable the obstacle avoidance?

  • @Zidan-kd2st

    If you are using the tap fly feature then in front there is another object whether mavic water will hit it?

    • @xavier_arthur
      @xavier_arthur  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Zidan 201005 tap to fly Free has no obstacle avoidance and Mavic will hit it........ However tap to fly forward has obstacle avoidance and mavic will either stop or go around as many obstacles to avoid it.

    Most detailed and informative video I found on Tap Fly. But I have one question: In Free Mode, when you yawed and it stayed on its original course, did you yaw with the stick on the controller, or by doing something on the screen? I know the green crosshairs was out of the frame, but I wonder if you just dragged left on the screen.
    I'd also like to make a request: when you're demonstrating an on-screen control (as opposed to one on the controller), could you put some indication on the video -- an arrow, or circle, e.g. -- that would indicate which control you're about to use? That would speed my comprehension greatly. Thanx again for the video..

    • @xavier_arthur
      @xavier_arthur  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used the left stick to yaw in free mode, also remember that obstacle avoidance does not work in free mode.
      Thanks for the tip, i will definitely indicate whether I'm operating on the screen or on the sticks in the future.
      Thanks again
      Fly safe...... enjoy

    • @ewoid64
      @ewoid64 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for clarifying that, @@xavier_arthur. What happens in that mode if you use the sticks to change altitude or direction?

    • @xavier_arthur
      @xavier_arthur  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question, i don't remember,
      I Don't want to tell you what I think I remember because if you try it and I Don't remember correctly and God forbid you crash or something, I don't want that.
      I don't have the mavic air anymore, I gave it away to one of my subscribers, so if you can try it in a big open area with no obstacles to see if it stops the tap to fly mode or if it's allows you to make adjustments.
      That i would really appreciate a update on the results.

  • @ewoid64
    @ewoid64 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This is a small point, but I think it clarifies Tap Fly just a little. In the Forward Mode, Tap Fly controls only two things: 1 It keeps the drone flying in the direction it's looking. 2: it sets the speed at an adjustable constant. Otherwise, you can use the sticks as usual to control altitude, yaw, Left/Right movement, and gimbal, and the Air will continue to fly wherever you point it, at the speed you set. You just can't fly backwards. Hope this helps.

      Thanks for testing and clarifying this function. #Helpful

    • @jansobieski9145
      @jansobieski9145 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And just to clarify further, TapFly Free Fly sets a Point in Space (Maybe via GPS coordinates?) towards which the drone will continue to fly regardless or any other (AFAIK) adjustment you make: Yaw, Roll, Altitude,speed.

    • @xavier_arthur
      @xavier_arthur  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tap to fly free mode allows you to use your yaw while the drone is flying on a set path you touched on the screen

    Been trying out POI and Tripod mode and like them a lot though have you had issues with it not coming back out of tripod mode? Mines appeared to stick in this the other evening and it wouldn't come out which was a little worrying as I needed to speed up to face down a breeze that got up a bit. I have learned since, toggling in sport mode and off again disables the tripod mode. A wee question as I am soon to head stateside on holiday with drone in tow. Are there no restrictions on flying over built up areas? We wouldn't be allowed to fly round a city area like that here ( Scotland).

    • @xavier_arthur
      @xavier_arthur  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kenneth Halley I never had issues with tripod mode getting stuck......
      Also it depends on the city..... here in NY it is mostly legal in some areas except Manhattan......I use UAV forecast app also to show me the no Fly zones in the US.

    • @xavier_arthur
      @xavier_arthur  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Drew Driscoll Thanks......I figured it out because every time I hit go in free mode the obstacle avoidance icon at the top of the screen next to the satellites go red...... If you look at the video you'll see soon as I hit go it turns red....... They didn't even mention that in the manual....... Good thing I was paying attention to all my Telemetry so to speak.

    Thanks ! Great video
    Actually a very cool feature!
    I can see myself using this. It provides a non-professional / learning pilot with a tool to get very cinematic footage !
    The black and white lines mean that that part of the image is to bright, right?
    The little graph, what does that exactly mean?

    • @xavier_arthur
      @xavier_arthur  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mathias Celis yes black and white means too bright ( Over Exposed)
      The little graph tells you if your blacks and whites are too strong basically...... the graph should not be touching either left or right walls.

    I love TapFly mode but I define it differently. TapFly/Forward manages and keeps constant the speed (right joy stick forward/back). You manage Yaw, Up, Down, Left, and Right and, of course the gimbal. For smooth, consistent speed, you can't beat it even if you are good in manual mode flying. TapFly/Backward is the same as forward except the constant speed is in reverse. Again, a great tool to free up the photographer. TapFly/Free manages Yaw. You manage the other stick movements. Really great! Finally, TapFly Coordinate manages altitude (keeps it constant) and distance of flight. I would use the Coordinate Mode to replace previous WayPoint modes. It automatically stops at a designate point so that I can reset the drone for the next leg. I might want to change speed, yaw and even camera settings. Then I set the next Coordinate to fly toward. WOW ... so many nice options.

    • @xavier_arthur
      @xavier_arthur  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Russell Schundler sounds like you're experenced with TapFly modes...... one thing....... Forward and reverse tapfly are not the same because in forward tap fly the Drone can gain altitude and lower altitude depending on where you press on the screen.... However in reverse the altitude remains constant unless you use the sticks.

    OK, this one was a little confusing. I had no idea what Tap to Fly was all about, and you didn’t explain it at all. You just started using it. I’m assuming after watching, that you’re just setting a vector and speed so that the drone goes in that direction until you change it, giving you the freedom to concentrate on the camera controls. Do all but the last one just continue on until you stop it? I can see how it could be very useful letting you work the camera precisely without worrying about flying to get a moving subject or a fly-by of a subject.

      Roy V H if you use familiar music, TH-cam will give the proceeds to the artist or split it with you or in some cases demonetize the video, meaning they will allow it to play but you won't get any $$$ for it.

    • @xavier_arthur
      @xavier_arthur  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it was because of trajectory path, however I noticed that the mavic air will even avoid obstacles when obstacle avoidances off.......... However they shouldn't be trusted or relied on.
      In this particular incense I felt like the sensors saw the obstacle but didn't avoid it, it just so happens the flight path wasn't aimed at the obstacle/building.

    A small suggestion. Unless the video is about video settings and the like will you please switch off that EXPOSURE WARNING zebra highlight. Its so damn distracting apart from the already jumbled look that the interface has.

    I can see myself using Free mode in this feature to capture specific shots that would be hard to do manually. Other than that it seems like more of a gimmick.

    Not a big fan of this feature, too much autonomy being given to the drone, after all you bought it to gain some enjoyment of being a pilot. Even so I am sure there will be a time when this mode could be used to your advantage. Keep up the good work.
