      Rainy season in Vietnam:
      Southern part of Vietnam, like Saigon, it lasts from May to Octorber.
      Central of Vietnam: it starts around Sept/Oct, and it lasts until Jan/Feb of the year after.
      Northern Vietnam seems a little bit complicated. The delta of Hong river may have four somewhat distinct seasons, but not for those regions furthest to the North, along the border. They have rainy seasons that last from April/May until Aug/Sept inconsistently.

    Wow! This might be one of the few channels I watch that Western travelers like you guys actually experience and appreciate the culture regardless of what religion/faith/belief you follow. You chose to visit historical sites and went out of your way to hike a Buddhist temple even though you aren't necessarily Buddhists. And even though there are other recreational places that tourists can go, you chose a spiritual place to see. You chose the tranquil aspect of Vietnam to admire, and I think that is very unique and wise, spiritual about your journey.
    I love that you burned the incense and put your hand together to pay homage to the Buddha. In that moment you look just like a faithful Buddhist.
    I'm a Buddhist myself and this video means a lot to me. There aren't many foreign tourists who are this thoughtful. I mean, not everyone can appreciate and embrace the spiritual side of Vietnam. I think these places are like the gems, and are often overlooked.
    It's just so beautiful to see tourists who truly appreciate the culture like you guys. I will follow your footsteps, regardless of what countries you travel to, because I know you are travelers with a beautiful heart and soul.

    Many of us foreigners are amazed at VN's larger beaches being so empty but there's a reason for that.
    It's HOT :-) Local Vietnamese go to the beach early, like around 5am and swim and exercise and finish by 6:30 - 7:00am. They go home, eat breakfast and off to work and school refreshed and energized. The beach is empty for us tourists when it's the hottest. It's great for us sun worshipper or beach fanatics. By 4:30pm the local Vietnamese leaves school and work so they come back to the beach to play, socialize and exercise then by 6pm they head home to have dinner with their family or go out for dinner. I love the fact that VN larger beach cities allow the locals complete public access to the lovely beaches, young and old rich and poor, instead of giving high end hotels/resorts their own private beaches. It's their beach and the Vietnamese people should have access to it. I've been to the Caribbean and feel sad seeing the locals not being able to access many of the lovely beaches there.

    • @mikeandashley
      @mikeandashley  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It's such a win-win situation, isn't it? We’d like to visit the beach and wake up early to see what it's like when the locals are out, but having the beach all to ourselves in the afternoon was wonderful as well. 🥰
      We’ve also been to the Caribbean and were disheartened to see the beaches owned by the hotels and blocked for public access. Nature should be accessible to everyone.

Alot of cultural sites, great feeling and food.. also found one of the best cocktail bars I've ever been to (Hybrid) and had one drink based on tomatoe and mozzarella -and another with pickled mushrooms.. both really good and nothing like any drinks I ever had before.

      Thanks so much! We figured out the debit card issue. Some of the local ATMs won’t work with foreign cards, so you either need to go into the bank with your passport or go to ATMs associated with larger banks. We’ve found that it’s best to go inside the bank with your passport because you can pull out an limited amount of money while avoiding transaction fees. Unfortunately, in the case of this video, it was the weekend. 😅
