  • This has to be one of my more frustrating repairs to date! The way this was designed was terrible but I got it changed without having to pull the clutches and clutch cover off!

    Did the starter on a trailblazer 250 this weekend. Pain in the ass. Got the last bolt from above, but had to remove the air box, carb and a motor mount to get at it.

    getting ready to do this job myself on a trailboss 350...you had it easy!!! on mine the mid chain has to come off, which keans fenders and cover have to come off...footbrake linkage has to come off...so much to get to three little hellion bolts. whoever design these was an evil evil man.

      😂😂 that’s horrible. I’ll remember that if I ever get a 4x4 in

    To be fair, these engines are built by Fuji Heavy Industries (parent company of Subaru). They get the blame for the weird design of these engines.

      Learn something new everyday! Thanks for sharing. Still is a dumb design 😂

      @@ToyShopRestorations I agree, the design leaves a bit to be desired, regardless who gets the blame. Polaris has come a long way and these old vehicles prove it.

    A buddy just brought me his polaris to put a new starter In. After watching the video it looks to be a pain to do.

      Ya most ppl take the clutches off 😅 it is a pain. Either he’s a really good friend of yours or you need to charge him 🤣

      I've done it once but I took the primary clutch off. It takes more time but it didn't suck. The biggest issue with servicing ATV's is that most owners do no maintenance.

    On a full battery charge my electric starter works, if not I have to use the pull chord to start my 2000 Trailblazer 250. Not sure I want to change the starter after watching this video

      It’s not fun 😅 is your voltage regulator ok? If it’s not recharging the battery that might do something similar 🤷🏻‍♂️

      @@ToyShopRestorationsthat’s actually a great suggestion, I haven’t even checked my voltage regulator. Thanks for the advice!

    What tool did you use to get the large gear off? (Flywheel? No idea what it'd be called)

    • @ToyShopRestorations
      @ToyShopRestorations  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a flywheel puller kit from harbor freight. www.harborfreight.com/bolt-type-wheel-puller-set-62620.html

    You didn't have to take what off in the first place?? The pull start?

      I think I was talking about the black recoil cover.

    Where is the timing chain on these things

    • @ToyShopRestorations
      @ToyShopRestorations  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m assuming you’re asking an honest question. There is no timing chain on this specific wheeler. 2 strokes don’t have timing chains.
