    In a hostel, a girl told me “whatever you use in a normal day you pack half”. It was true. Don’t take with you things that fit in the “what if” category

    • @yourtravelfriendanna

      Smart chica! The what if category slowly turns into an easy no category.

    I just spent a month in Ireland and Scotland and I feel your pain. I wish I had just took a bigger checked bag because by the end I had to send stuff home and my bags were so full and HEAVY!

    I am similar about the packing, always take a long consideration. Tips: most of the hotels give you at least soap so you don't have to pack showergel and sampoo you can buy it in europe same with the lanundry detargent. Put the socks into the shoe to save more space.

    • @yourtravelfriendanna
      @yourtravelfriendanna  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the tips! I prefer to carry my own soaps as I find my skin can react to changing soaps when I stay in certain accommodations for such a short period of time. I have found more laundry mats to have detergent for sale too, this is a great option as well.

    Haha, someone who’s just like me when it comes to packing! I don't need to make such a thorough list nowadays, but I still write down unusual items I may need to bring lest I forget them. I also plan well in advance (weeks!!) if I'm bringing a carry-on and try different packing configurations. I, too, definitely need sleeping socks hehe. Added stress factor - I'm tall and plus size so everything takes up tons of space.:) I love your glasses so so much btw! Hope you're having fun this side of the big old pond :)

    Silk, I wear silk shirts and t-shirts coz it makes packing so easy, accompanied by a thin wool poncho as a cover-up since it looks so classic to both jeans and a black dress and on the beach. Thanks this was so much fun to watch! 💖💖💖

      Thanks for the kind feedback! How do you find silk for sweating, or wrinkles?

    • @_dewinther
      @_dewinther 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It is a breathable material since it is pure silk. You can hang it in a hot shower (steam) to remove wrinkles. It is super easy to wash, but be careful not to twist the material. 😊 when you pack, make sure to roll with other chlotes in between, the bigger roll, the better, without zippers and such (not to hurt the fabric) and so You dont force in wrinkles. You can also use plastic or tissue paper in between (I use other silk clothes) to keep the fabric unwrinkled. Dont throw silk in a hamper when dirty, hang it. It is often this that destroys silk, tangeled and twisted silk in the bottom of a dirty chlotes hamper for 2 weeks, will give silk unpresidented wrinkles 😅 Thanks!

    i know this sounds crazy. honestly i am fully aware but i start making lists and seeing what will work and what i need to find and maybe buy months in advance if i’m aware of a trip coming up. i have a trip to Europe coming in September and i started this month just cultivating what i could possibly need and packing my toiletries that i won’t be using before then and just trying to prepare because i panic and my adhd brain won’t let me focus on other things. so i fully understand.

    • @yourtravelfriendanna

    Definitely remove more stuff. You can always buy anything you really really need. Three sweaters? No way! Two mascaras? Why? Two big woolly socks? No, you only wear them in bed. Nothing worse than dragging around stuff that you end up not using.
    I’m in Calgary too in packing paralysis. I’ve had a pile out for over a week as I’m rusty from not traveling during the pandemic. Also, two climates. I’m going to the hot south of France then to cold rainy Scotland. You’re not alone in your anxiety!
    Great video! Keeping it real. So many packing videos make it look like it’s so simple, but they’re not showing the agony behind all that smooth organization they film. Happy travels. Would love to see your spreadsheet packing list. Would also like to know if that backpack ends up fitting under the seat as it looks big for a “personal item”.

    • @yourtravelfriendanna
      @yourtravelfriendanna  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Totally agree. Here’s how it has worked out, I use both mascaras everyday. I like having one that’s waterproof. I use both pairs of wool socks. About a pair ever 3-5 nights before I do laundry, and have worn all sweaters. Two bathing suits ended up being too much though

      @lisssmall4669 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@yourtravelfriendanna I've found that my stuff takes up 30-40% less space when in a compression cube. Mind-blowing! I usually use them like regular cubes on my way to vacation, and compress them on the way home to make room for everything I've purchased along the way.

      They are from Simons:
      fave.co/3wwp4Ee [aff]
      They are cotton like, with stretch, and don’t make the swishy noise! Not lined, but thick enough to be warm.

I m trying to see if 30l backpack enough ...am frightened to take laptop last 1 gave away after was searched a whole hour saying i had too much tech in EU ridiculous as had 2 cameras etc but so do msny people. Just want to be inconspicous nxt time. Meds will take up room longterm as asrhmatic and too costly to buy en route. You have some amazing vlogs re where to visit. I kerp going back to Italy as still best place ever...
