Fair play to Sky Sports for addressing such a serious problem that is so common in young men, they've used this platform to have ex football stars talk about it to a male targeted audience. Well done 👍
You can be addicted to anything. There's still adverts for drink, food and everything else. At least sky have a huge audience they can show these thinsg to.

I'd like to know what they do to restrict problem gambling, which they can easily detect by gambling patterns. And if they offer help and how many actually use that help and if it's effective.
The same emptiness inside me that urged me to gambling, sex, food, alcohol and drugs was there as a child who obsessed over football stickers, wrestling figures, stealing car badges and numerous other materialistic things. I was born with the disease of addiction, the never-ending pursuit of attempting to fulfil my internal deterioration with external materialistic items or substances. Even now I know what I suffer from I don't know how to control it.
Something about mental health in sportsmen! High functioning individuals need stimulation, organise their day! In addition, you know what contributes to mental health problems? Worrying about bills and having a roof over your head! Of all people, Russell Brand said “ We live in a society that does not align with the human spirit”
Keep up the AA/NA meetings Paul! I'm 17 years sober and an Arsenal fan here. It's possible but it takes work and looking at trauma eventually. And stick around therapy if you can afford it people. It's saved my sanity.
It's funny though and don't get me wrong this isn't a dig at footballers but if you're a footballer you can pick up the phone and get mental health therapy immediately but if your poor like me the doctor puts you on a two and a half year waiting list. The media needs to put pressure on the government for more funding. Big respect to these lads for speaking up.
They are maddeningly inconsistent. They deleted that video of Gary Neville discussing Qatar and the UAE but they post this. I want to be okay with it but they’re still not talking about everything they should.

Totally agree with merse, instead of the odd mental health weeks and days we should be promoting the message out there constantly to make sure people get the support and guidance on this terrible illness which destroys people.
Alcohol and drugs lead to mental illness so in order for u to recover u need to be healthy physically. Mentally u will be OK also speaking to ur genuine loved ones helps a lot
Thankyou Sky-Sports. We have a Work Social Media Mental Health Page set up. There is also Validium which I'm trying to raise awareness for at my Workplace over the next few weeks.
Times are hard but the Government telling you what to think, say and do at the moment doesn't help. Forced Immigrantion, Covid, Stress, Addiction, No self esteem, lost identity. The Government need to put in as much effort as they do for BLM as they need to do for Suicide Awareness! Or maybe they want it! They just replace you with a Syrian.
I’m so glad that sky has done this. But I also think that we need to acknowledge how far we have come as a society and people suffering from mental health are getting more support from the people around them and that things are getting better
Reading and Running are the keys of life. The moment I started running, it was like a new beginning .. I looked at the mirror and there was a guy smiling back at me. I couldn't believe it. Especially in nature, something meditative about the run among the trees. Rediscover reading, puts you in a slow burning rapture. Listen to the words of the earth wind and fire song 'turn it into something good'.
How are we living in a world where the biggest killer of men under 45 is suicide, serious problem, i’d literally listen to anyone who needed to talk, no matter where your from or who you are. Everyone needs someone

Of all people, Russell Brand said “ We live in a society that does not align with the human spirit”
brilliant piece, this needs to be discussed so much more..
Wow much respect for spending a good part of your segment on mental health issues. It is so important for EVERYONE . God bless
Jamie o'hara is spot on 1000% hes helped me more than anyone I've ever spoken to .
Big respect to these lads for speaking up.
fair play to these lads completely
Changed my opinion on them after watching this, top blokes
A lot of respect for Paul. It's not easy talking about your struggles with mental health. Good job Sky Sports.
Absolute amazing work from sky, really talking about mental health
I really appreciate the way these guys open up there heart and speak their truth
They are maddeningly inconsistent. They deleted that video of Gary Neville discussing Qatar and the UAE but they post this. I want to be okay with it but they’re still not talking about everything they should.
Why did they delete that? Found it quite interesting and still had a bit left to watch
Fantastic. Sheer honesty.
I found social media didnt help me I just compared my life to other . See wat my friend had girlfriend, children , cars , house etc. felt like I wasnt working hard enough or werent good enough . Still struggling to this day
Social media is pure poison mate
@@niloben659 total agree
@@carlmynett1271 Getting off it was one of the best moves I've made, haven't missed it for a second
Top guy Paul massive respect ✊ a lot of intelligent individuals get depressions and addictions, it’s sad it’s usually the best people that get it also big ups Jamie o hara very difficult to speak up about these everyone stay safe and don’t forget you are just as important as anyone else ❤️💯‼️
Good people suffer from this. Merse, well done for talking about it. You’re right as well. It’s not just a week, it’s for life. He’s right about the addiction side as well. I’ve struggled with addiction and it is a lonely thing. Talking helps.
Totally agree with merse, instead of the odd mental health weeks and days we should be promoting the message out there constantly to make sure people get the support and guidance on this terrible illness which destroys people.
Not even one helpline number on screen
@@mmxcii9169 just a link to sky sports my friend
Alcohol and drugs lead to mental illness so in order for u to recover u need to be healthy physically. Mentally u will be OK also speaking to ur genuine loved ones helps a lot
Huge praise for these men standing up with this message. Awesome.
They just replace you with a Syrian.
absolute class discussion 👏🏻 Thankyou for talking so honestly
Very open and honest….good on them
I’m so glad that sky has done this.
Just celebrated my 24 months drug free 👍 this is life or death make your choice ?!
Well done.
Keep up the Good work Alan.
👍 👍
Well said
I always wonder of myself watching these videos, do I need to watch my mental heath hearing Paul Merson opinions on game week in week out?
Arsenal in the 90s were legendary boozers. Tony Adams leading from the front.
Great conversation, good people
Love Paul Merson - if you're reading this your a credit to manhood and professional football
The fact Woodsy would never give me the time of day makes my mental health a whole lot worse :(
How are we living in a world where the biggest killer of men under 45 is suicide, serious problem, i’d literally listen to anyone who needed to talk, no matter where your from or who you are. Everyone needs someone
Well done Sky on airing this issue, keep it up. That stat for young men and kids at school is terrifying.
a very open and vulnerable discussion
