    This turned out very good, to my surprise. Thumbs up!
    Incidentally, I have a 1995 Bad Boy Springer softail in new condition. I'm always very careful not to drift too far away from its original look/design. (has the same 21" spoke tubeless wheel as what you installed here)

    • @Mikeityourself
      @Mikeityourself  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. I worried a little about the look, I'm not a fan of the very large front wheels and didn't want this to have that exaggerated look. I lucked out.

      @@Mikeityourself Agreed. I always thought the big fat front tire looked ridiculous but I guess that was part of the theme behind calling them a Fatboy or Fatbob.
      You definitely made a big improvement with the 21 although they do have the disadvantage of taking bumps and holes more rough with less "cushion" than the fat tires. Be well!

    Came across this post and thought some folks might find my experience of some small value. I have a 2007 Fatboy; changed the front to 170/20-21. The rear is a 200/55R-17. I also lowered the rear about 1" The result looks great. The ride is another issue. The changes have impacted the caster angle such that the bike wants to cruise straight ahead. At speed turns are fine, but at slow speeds the front wheel wants to "fall in". U-turns in residential streets used to be a non-issue now take some concentration or you will duck walk like a nubie. Overall the appearance was worth the minor change in handling but the bike can be a handfull at very low speed.

    • @Mikeityourself
      @Mikeityourself  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am surprised at those impacts. Especially the "fall in" part. Wonder if any other mods were done like ape hangers since it seems to be at slow speed. I notice a difference between standard bars and Ape's definitely not the same type of steering.

    • @jamesvillano5202
      @jamesvillano5202 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Mikeityourself I suspect lowering the rear 1" also had an impact on the caster angle. Still have the stock bars on it though.
      Lowering the rear made getting the bike on my motorcycle jack a pain as well.

      Is the rear an 18 "x 3.5 "bro ? So I can go ahead and order the right sized rear white wall tire? As we can wait up to 3 months for shipping on this part of the World. Cheers from down under NZ.

      Sorry for the late reply. Spokes arent bad if you dont let it slide, once they are clean and you regularly wash, no issues but let them sit for awhile and get any rust, your stuck using strips of cloth to polish each one. A few hours, a 6'er of beer and some tunes.

      These are the folks I bought mine threw, its not immediate shipping because they appear to not make them until time of order so expect a few weeks before delivery.

      I didn't notice any difference in the ride. But i did quickly figure out that it impacted my speedo reading. Was cruzin at 75 MPH and was getting beat pretty good by the wind when i realized the larger wheel doesn't have to spin as fast so i was definitely going much faster. Got a tank mount pouch for my phone to use GPS and see how much of a deviation i've got.

      Honestly I don't feel any difference in the ride. The one thing that took a minute to realize while riding was my speedo was off by about 5 MPH, cruising at 75MPH seemed to be sending more wind than normal in my direction and then I realized it was actually 80 MPH due to the larger front diameter. But other than that it feels stock to me.

      Thanks for the feedback Phill. I did feel a slight difference in the ride, a lil more of the ground if that makes sense, like a car with racing tires. Outside of that it felt pretty normal. Appreciate the support.
