When you go back at all the interactions between Zangetsu and Ichigo, you realized he never lied to him, always taught him something about himself and saved him many time...Both of them...That really changed the whole dynamic of those conversations ! Now the two of them will work with Ichigo, his dual Zanpakuto and full power unleashed !!

To clarify something: the blue sword "Zangetsu" aka Yhwach from 1000 years ago left Ichigo behind was Ichigo's true full Shinigami powers he was suppressing for a long time. Also the water in the lake was gone not because Ichigo has a "fire Zanpakuto" but because you need water for cooling down a blade while forging it and Ichigo's sword had so much power was so hot with so much reiatsu that it took a whole lake to cool it down.
Yeah, thats why Ōetsu Nimaiya said "The Bankai cannot be reforged without all these waters". Because it really need a water to cool it down when the forge is done 😁😁

I thought the blue sword aka the smaller sword represented his Quincy side and the red sword was his hollow aka true shinigami powers?
The inner world with Zangetsu represents Ichigo's mind and the moment Zangetsu told him "I'm not Zangetsu" his whole world started to crumble. The symbolism hits strong with this one.
And the rain to represent his doubts. It was perfect, perfect. Everything, to the last minute detail... xd
And the rain started falling and last time Tensa told him it rained so much the whole place was submerged underwater because he stopped moving forward and lost hope
and the crack in the buildings.....the moment zangetsu broke his trust...the building split

The blade is me easily my favorite moment where ichigo finally becomes one with himself. It basically describes what ichigo journey is all about which makes me appreciate ichigo mor on a revisit. Kubo foreshadowing is so good really clever. Old man zangetsu looking ywhach makes so much sense. This is why bleach my number one animanga

I rewatched episode 19 and listened to Zangetsu trying to reveal his real name to Ichigo, but something prevented him from saying it to Ichigo. A name which wasn't Zangetsu & seems to be Yhwach if you rewatch the scene. Absolutely incredible foreshadowing from Kubo! And I wondered why Yhwach looked so familiar to me from the start. Wow.

@@w1n1x Look at episode 19 and when zangetsu tries to tell ichigo its name it distorts, and in the manga check out chapter 63 when zangentsu tries to say his name the name is covered, with black ink covering the whole name blocking the reader from seeing it which was because of ichibei. search up "Klub outside question 117" as you know Klub outside is Kubo's Q&A fan club. He confirms it was him right there.

So look...
Twice in the series someone has tried to tell Ichigo of his Quincy lineage. The first time was when "Zangetsu" and Ichigo met, Ichigo asked him "who are you" to which Zangetsu TRIED to reply with " Who am I? Don't you know, it's me---" and he was cut off by something preventing him from saying his name, Yhwach(won't spoil who does that).
The 2nd time is with Aizen trying to say he's the offspring of a Shinigami and a Quincy but before he could say that... Isshin intervenes and tells him "you talk too much Aizen" 💀.
It all comes together here in a VERY beautiful way from Aizen's involvement, his mother & dad and even the MAIN villain being here this whole time.
Bro if you paid attention to the mid title cards in ep 13 you can see the black ink is smeared on the names of both Hollow White and Zangetsu 👀... They knew what they were doing there😭😭.

Against Kenpachi "Zangetsu" stopped Ichigo's blood loss with Blut and amped his Reiatsu(defensive and offensive ability of Quincy's).
After that battle "Zangetsu" transported him with the Quincy's shadow ability 👀.

And the reveal of Ichigo's power also explained why the Final Getsuga was strong enough to win against Aizen. The final Getsuga literally fused both Zangetsu, Quincy and Hollow, with Human Ichigo to surpass every boundary of power there was in Bleach universe.
He temporarily had access to all his power before he realized who he was.

Right after Ichigo got the new Zangetsu, the blue (Quincy) and red (Hollow) lights turned to yellow (Ichigo). It’s a nice visual symbolism that lines up with the episode title “The Blade is Me”. Ichigo is Zangetsu, Zangetsu is Ichigo meaning he’s fighting as one.
This contrast with an older chapter/episode titled “The Blade and Me” when Ichigo first trained with Urahara and learning Zangetsu’s name, them fighting as partners.

Someone mentioned that Ryuken became a doctor because he never wanted to fail someone again like he failed Misaki, that feeling that useless drove him to step away from the quinces and go help people. And now I see it, because he may be cold now, but he cares about people still
This just means that having his frail wife (that he actually genuinely loves) die like how she did must have been a massive blow to Ryuken, once again he failed a woman he loves and was powerless to save her life. This just shows that behind his cold exterior Ryuken is a broken man that lost too much.

No wonder he just flat out said, “there’s no money to be made”, it’s because essentially the father of all quincies, the representation of the Quincy heritage killed the two people that he cared the most about. Ryuken’s father never around to help, and was apparently a thief. While, Uryu like most young people still naive about the world with his “pride of the quincies” mentality and being self-righteous, and glorifying his grandfather and his ways.
But Soken, Uryu’s grandfather also understood, that in a way the Quincy culture, and everything about the Quincy way failed his son. So in Soken’s own way, his amends by failing his son, were to be there with Uryu and teach him the right way, the ideal Quincy path.
As a young teenager/kid , I didn’t get why Ryuken was such a dick. That he was just your stereotypical dickhead of a father, skilled but just gave up on his heritage. But it was so much more. Definitely a really good pay off.

If you rewatch the scene where Zangetsu first says his name to Ichigo at the beginning of the Soul Society arc, you can clearly hear a garbled version of Yhwach.
The thing that evaporated the ocean was merely the spiritual pressure that ichigo slipped while drawing the sword

The reason Yhwach purge affected Masaki was because she wasn't an Echt Quincy anymore (pure) because her blood was infected with the hollow white. She was a mixed blooded Quincy (unpure) just like Uryuu's mom so they both got hurt
Then, (I am not include Uryu) why Masaki children never get affected?
@@arktidasagency7968 There are 2 explanations that people like:
1. If you notice, auswahlen didn’t actually kill ichigos mom, it just removed her powers so the hollow could kill her. Uryu mom died because she was already frail and her Quincy powers were keeping her alive. So her kids would’ve been fine and just lost their Quincy powers. But ichigo still has his (and we assume yuzu and Karin do too since they can see spirits), so this explanation isn’t enough to explain unless Kubo gives us more info. Furthermore, Juha later implies that auswahlen killed all impure quinces (except uryu) so this explanation has some plot holes.
2. Probably a better explanation is due to their soul balance. Urahara said “hollows are opposite humans, quinces are opposite Shinigami” since the Kurosaki children are human/Quincy/Shinigami (ichigo is the only one with a hollow), people theorize that their Shinigami powers rejected auswahlen and that’s how they both lived and kept their powers.
@@faraday7879 this is my theory. I think the reason that Ichigo and Yuzu, likely have a more Quincy power dormant, is the reason why they most likely get effect by Auswahlen. however, due to White influence (reiatsu trace) that's why Auswahlen can't make them die (but lost power in Yuzu and Masaki case: Ichigo, special case becuase he have an 'entirety of White in him', so make Auswahlen not have effect Ichigo at all).
Remember, to Quincy..Hollow is a 'poison' to them (their technique as well).
In Karin case, despite she have 'Hollow reiastsu trace'. Her power may lean more Shinigami side than Quincy. that's why she can see spirit clearly than her twin.
loved the fact that Renji and every other soul reaper has to earn the respect of the asauchi to be chosen by one of them but Ichigo is on such another level they all bent the knee and Ichigo did the choosing. Such a powerful moment then of course the end with the revelation that white was his true zanpakto all along but Ichigo accepting both his shinigami and quincy powers as part of him and both zangetsu resulting in 2 swords was awesome too. Can't wait for cour 2 to see him in action

You see how he always recklessly charges in and always being the "distraction" or "sacrifice", in which is the exact way he treats his Zankupakuto, rmb the Zankupakuto release and use is a reflection of one's soul... And the way he used Zabimaru was extremely self destructive,
He needs to prove his worth to the Asauchi he isn't some sacrificial fodder and do have strength, to which he finally beat one down enough to prove his worth
Ichigo on the other hand was the complete opposite to Renji, he has power, but he don't know himself, hence the statement of "Renji is a true soul reaper, but you are not"
Since the basic essence of a soul reaper is to always train yourself to be the best of yourself + understanding, accept and be yourself
Ichigo got the training down, but he don't know himself, we seen him question himself alot, that caused alot of power fluctuations aside from the ones where he feared his power, he lacked the conviction and understanding of himself
But when he finally did, he had both essence of a Soul Reaper down perfectly, powerful and full understanding and acceptance of himself, that all the Asauchi kneeled and respect him
Rmb the Asauchi were all extremely pissed at them, cux their comrade "died" due to their masters' lacking

Zanpakuto Rebellion low-key the best filler arc since it has a lot of canon stuff dropped into it.

[Tidbits & Clarifications] [Get ready for a mini Book, lol (For those interested in particular details)]
- This episode is so important because it effectively finishes off Ichigo's character development. As we all know the Zanpaktou is representative of a Characters self progression and Here Ichigo finally gets a Completed Zanpaktou. Both parts of Zangetsu finally accept Ichigo because Ichigo finally accepts and loves himself, Which is something he couldn't do given his trauma.
- That last bit about Yhwach being responsible for Masaki's death is also important because as I stated on several occasions Ichigo still carries that trauma, he still blamed himself for his mother's death, He couldn't accept himself because he was the cause of his greatest failure, and now he has a true target to point his blade towards.
-Throughout the entire show Ichigo's Quincy power never said he was Zangetsu, in fact, the first & only time that part of Ichigo's soul spoke its name, we could not hear it. More important is that if you go back through the story "White" always told us that he is Zangetsu. Think about the entire SS arc, it was actually White that kept saving Ichigo. Kubo loves writing in this fashion where he blends Metaphors and Foreshadowing to make the viewers that pay attention cling to a false understanding.
- Some still question "Then how did Ichigo have a Zanpaktou all this time". The hollow "White" was made from Shinigami Souls, so practically Ichigo had something akin to an Asauchi, yet made with a hollow as a base. This is also why whenever he got stronger as a Shinigami, His hollow powers did as well because his Shinigami and Hollow Powers are one.
- It's really cool how Kubo uses Ichigo being a mixed breed to show that he has Quincy Powers, we can assume that this Young Ywach looking being existed in all Quincy, but unlike Ichigo, Quincies can't visit their inner soul...only Shinigami can, so Ichigo would be the only one in existence able of experiencing this.
-This part of Ichigo that looks like Young Ywach seems to carry Quincy intent, yet also seeks to protect Ichigo. I always found it fascinating because this Quincy part of him believed becoming a Shinigami = Conflict and suffering so he actively tried to keep that from happening. I still wonder if maybe this belief comes from Ywach himself.
- The special Gigai Urahara used with Isshin was the same kind Urahara used in an attempt to secretly turn Rukia Human.
- The long Blade is representative of his Shinigami & Hollow powers and the short blade is his Quincy powers.
- Bleach blends Buddhist themes and Christian themes when crafting its lore. Buddhism has a concept known as Samsara and within that concept, you have something known as 6 Paths, 3 of them are virtuous paths and the other 3 are unbenelovent paths...One of those "bad" paths is the Animal path, which plays into Komamura's clan being beast .

Zanpakuto rebellion and the invading army filler arcs(the last two fuller arcs) are both really good filler arcs and some small details have even been incorporated into future canon material… love the reactions to the new tybw season 🙏🏻
When oh-etsu said "Pull it out, That's your zanpakto" and the Ost dropped that beat. God damn the chills. This is in the Top 3 episodes in the whole of bleach For me.
This episode was peak character development for Ichigo, this is why he is my favourite mc.

From the begining Ichigo was proud of being a soul reaper and Uryu was proud being a Quincy
"The Blade is Me" also explains why the asuachi bowed to him. Remember when they first went into the hooden, the asuachi attacked them to figure out whether blades or soul reapers are stronger. But they recognized the new Ichigo as one of their own but greater.
Mel understood how poetic it was. Thanks Steph and Mel, it was a fun and lovely ride from your bleach reactions to tybw part 1 reactions. Fun fact, Isshin's zanpakuto also has a moon aspect/meaning to it like Ichigo's Zangetsu. His words about Masaki makes it even more meaningful! Because he is the moon and Masaki is the sun.

You gotta admit still to fact they capture everything on the manga so far coming in animated is amazing as hell (even tho some part of manga didn't but put in there but mostly reasonable from them tho) glad you two are genuinely feeling surprised towards this point of bleach arc here is actually nice reaction to see tbh. Ichigo finally embracing the power of being every race lol.
Watching Zangetsu fade away as he shed a tear with his soul world crumbling around him was so sad. Then it transitions into Nimaiya urging Ichigo to pull his true Zangetsu out with the OG "number one" soundtrack playing in the background. What a rollercoaster of emotions
The zanpakuto rebellion arc was a nice filler arc as it exploded the soul reapers personal connection to their zanpakuto
In the earliest episodes of bleach were ishin worshipped a giant picture of maski.. We all laughed back then since it was supposed to be comedic but after this episode its hits different 🥺
If you go back to episode 19 around the 13 min mark you can see Ichigo meeting "zangetsu" for the first time and when he tries saying his name it's censored but you can still hear "ha" which means "Yhwach" in japanese. The foreshadowing in this show is insane!
Also, back then Tensa zangetsu mentioned that the inner world looks like Ichigos heart and it will drown if Ichigo is sad. When Zangetsu tells Ichigo he wasn't Zangetsu his world crumbled and everything drowned in water, amazing story telling!
Nope, you hear a "da", the sentence in Japanese is Watashi da ___ da.
Also remember when Byakyuya told ichigo when he first released his bankai? It all make sense during the soul society arc when He told ichigo that " You call that thing a bankai?" He was confused..It didn't look like a soul reapers bankai. This explains that and also when Old man zangetsu tried to tell him his real name.
and with that color when the swords were disappearing turning gold/fiery gold really is the color of his getsuga blast...because I remember reading that one colored bleach manga and I got confused that they colored it yellow when he fires getsuga during the 2nd war so I got confused... So that really was the color of his getsuga. at first it was blue in his shikai because you know, of his quincy powers then mixed black red in bankai because of his hollow powers. This is just my opinion. :0
here's a few things to help you:
at 28:05 the sea evaporated because when Zangetsu was forged,his sword was so hot with reiatsu,that it evaporated it all,a feat that's unheard of.
and not a spoiler but to clear the misunderstanding,he does not have a fire ability,the reason both of his swords glowed blue/red was because of their attributes, soul reaper/quincy, quincy is blue and red is his hollow, if you watched the muramasa arc( a filler arc) you will know his hollow's reiatsu is red :)

During Yhwacht's Auswahlen, all Gemischt Quincy lost their lives and their powers go to the king and Ichigo's mom, having impurities in her blood got affected by it..

Dual Zangetsu, the one with blue light means Quincy power: Yhwach, the other one with red light means Hollow and Soul Reaper power: white Ichigo. The red doesn't mean that Zangetsu have fire ability. This is Bleach, not Demon slayer. White Ichigo's symbolic color is red.
So something cool over how Kubo wrote the Shinigami vs Quincy conflict:
Shinigami view death as cyclical and believe in retaining the balance between souls regardless of their fate. They also obtain their strength from within and utilize their own spiritual power. Meanwhile, Quincies believe in absolute death, and only those who are pure of heart may enter the afterlife. Likewise, their powers are received from a Messianic figure who went through a cycle of death and rebirth.
It's literally a Buddhism vs Christianity conflict that fully addresses the strengths and flaws of both ideologies.
You also see this in Ichigo, who is a hybrid of everything: The soul of a Shinigami, the heart of a Human, the drive of a Hollow, and the blood of a Quincy. As such, his true Shikai contains a little bit of everything. His right blade contains a grip that allows easier control with a hollowed out blade that makes his swings easier. His Shinigami and Hollow side. His left blade is smaller, but more durable and better as a defensive tool. His Quincy side. And he's cloaked in his armor that was made from his Fullbring, his Human side.
This arc is so so so good. I wish we could get a redo of the original series to match the vibe of the manga like this arc does! Can't wait to see the rest w/you guys.
One of the things I think was glossed over was not just that ishin was a captain, but he was actually from a noble house much like byakuya.
It's been an absolute blast watching you two react to this series. As a manga reader one of the more fun things for me to do has been watching anime only watchers react to these for the first time , and it's fun to watch inciteful watchers piece everything together as it everything comes full circle.
If you're going to check out a filler I'd suggest the Zanpaktou rebellion arc.

Ichigo is now a monster. Not only he got duel welding swords including all souls reapers(lieutenants and captains) spiritual pressure, but also he regained his Soul Reaper/Hollow/Quincy powers back thanks to his memories spiritual pressure that have been awakened from its core.
Think of it like this. Zangetsu(Quincy) is his mother always teaching and nurturing but Zangetsu(Shinigami/Hollow) is his Father, the protector that steps in when absolutely necessary.
I'm not sure if you guys realized it, Ichigo's father's real name is Captain Isshin SHIBA. As is Shiba - one of the 4 Noble Families in Soul Society.

The thing about multiple lieutenants is probably due to the fact that Shunsui found a loop hole therefore some of the squads are probably taking advantage of it since some squads need the extra man power
Probably also a unique situation where suddenly half a dozen captain and lieutenants thought dead reappear alive and well.
You gotta love the chaotic vibes Shunsui has. Its not even the first month of his leadership and he already broke more rules and protocols of the Sereitei then we've ever seen before lmao
Also considering the situation I think being more lenient towards the Vizoreds makes sense. Yamamoto and the Central were very against them but now they have to take whoever is disposable to fight

I'd say, while we wait for the next part of the season in a few months, it would be VERY worth it to check out any of the fillers that you're interested in. Since you're all caught up, they won't interfere with the manga-canon story and would be nice self-contained stories for you to experience and discuss. I would suggest checking out the movies and any OVAs as well. I think it's always fun to check out the fillers/movies/OVAs as long as you treat them like their own stories, especially if you're waiting for more of the main story to come out.
Eicht quincies are pure quincies, whilst the rest are hybrids (human x Quincy mix)

Regarding the fillers, I saw a channel do this before that was really cool. They first made a poll about which filler arc to start, and then they would post the full episode on patreon and only post the best moments on TH-cam. This way it didnt exhaust their editing manpower while keeping it enjoyable.
As for my personal favorite filler from bleach? Zanpakuto rebellion because we get to see all the canon zanpakuto spirits and it's a chef's kiss with the character designs 🔥

If you look at the colors, they represent his powers. The left shorter blade turned into light blue particles/spiritual pressure, which was his quincy blade/powers. And the larger blade turned into a fiery red spiritual pressure, which represents his shinigami/hollow powers since those are the colors of the shinigami and the hollows. In the beginning of bleach they talk about spirit ribbons (and even in ep 12 where kiskue tells isshin about bonding his spiritual ribbon to masakis to save her), hollows have a light red ribbon, shinigami have a dark red ribbon, more so crimson red, and quincys are obviously a holy blue, those are like the base colors for those races. Its bascially like the individual ki color in dragon ball but in bleach. Im assuming it turned into a fiery red (instead of light or crimson red) because that would probably be the combination between the hollow and shinigami spiritual colors. Anyways those colors later turn gold which is a really nice touch bc it signifies how ichigo has made white zangetsu and old man zangetsu/yhwach completely fuse with his soul, accepting them for who they really are and accepting himself for who he really is, being able to use his true unlocked powers. And his fullbring powers are obviously still with him, so ichigo is a human/hollow/shinigami/quincy/fullbring which is hilarious and awesome! This was by far my favorite episode, ive been waiting to see it animated ever since I read it in the manga, I fucking loved it! Especially the part when ichigo revealed his true zanpaktous/true shikai.
ichigo is technically the king, he is just like the soul king, who was quincy soul reaper both he was the first of both.

Zangestsu is White Ichigo and his original Zanpaktou. Old Man "Zangetsu" was originally pretending to be his Zanpaktou spirit. Before Ohetsu reforged Zangetsu. The old man was never his Zanpaktou spirit, his Zanpaktou spirit was his inner hollow. But after both became his Zanpaktou spirits. Old Man Zangetsu being his Quincy powers, and White Zangetsu being his Hollow and Soul Reaper powers.
