    As a pirc Player myself, ive encountered this line many Times, instead of trading Queens Black can play Ng4 instantly. After QxQd8 KxQd8 and 0-0-0 or Rd1+ Black is fine after Bd7

    • @mistermiles3830

      I agree, but the move Nd7 is a "natural" move for most of the Pirc players if they never faced this situation, I think for Bg5 this is the only exception

    When white plays two pawns in the center then black delays castling and plays c6, followed by either Nd7 or counter-attacking with Bg4 (when white knight gets out). Black can also counter-attack the white bishop at g6.

  • @goodmongo7423
    @goodmongo7423 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    According to almost all computer analysis Bg5 followed by Bg7 is almost an even game. e5 is the dubious move. exd5 was not the error but instead Qxd1+ was the error, instread Ng4 was the correct move with computers rating the position as +.4. 5...nfd7 is rated at +.2 by computers. I think the issue was the GM played something that led to the Pirc where he wasn't prepared. Players that love the Pirc will know the right counter to e5 and actually will have a decent chance of winning. Just my 2 cents.

    Looks like GM was not well prepared. I play Pirc by default. In non-Byrne versions Q exchange after e5 usually favours Black but we know not to use it here. Also we know at 6.06 the move is e6, counter-attacking N for B, not Bd6. Having said that, Byrne IS one of the trickier variations for B - W still retains some advantage, but not enough to easily overcome someone who plays Pirc regularly.
