I picked up the new screwdriver and smaller multi set about a month back and it is my go-to set for around the house as I remodel. My only desire is a clip mount you could get to attach the screwdriver to their MODBox system so it stays with the set. I really like their new cases... the boxes are well made and don't feel like they will shatter when dropped repeated times.
Klein has always been a favorite for screwdrivers & electrical tools for me and has been killing it with the new tools that have and are coming out.

We really have Milwaukee to thank for all this innovation. Klein finally got some pressure in the hand tools market, especially from the made in USA Milwaukee line up. It has forced them to go heavy into their R&D bringing us these witty and multifunctional designs. People thought it was over for Klein after HD closing the door on them to drive a wedge between Milwaukee and Klein, but it just made the both of them get better.

Between that “wallet” and regular things like a pocket knife and whatever else one carries I found as much utilities as a multi tool with way less bulk. And they’re all dedicated tools that don’t compromise on anything

Great video, I have a Leatherman Wave that would also interface with the 1/4 Inch drive system employed here and that does have an extension too. Tang tools also have a 1/4 inch socket set that includes a ratcheting ring spanner that interfaces with this system, I am also a devotee of tool interfacing, expansion and synergy. It just keeps getting better.

My Wiha double-sided security bits work great in the Milwaukee Fastback 6 in 1. That's a match made in heaven. And the Roxon S501U is a very complimentary tool for the Fastback, especially with the file or saw insert to go with those scissors. A pair of Knipex Cobra pliers would round out a nice 3-piece toolkit.

The best bit retention on a screwdriver is either on the wiha ultradriver screwdriver where it works well with standard and wiha double sided bits, or the newer Milwaukee fastback 6-in-1 utility knife with its ball detent collar system. I don’t know why either style hasnt been made popular on bit extenders yet. For ball detent double sided bits, I will usually just pop it into one of the sleeves of the the klein ratcheting screwdriver. Between the fastback that I edc and the Klein that I keep in the work truck, I can pretty much use any style bit.

  • @Dracomies

I like pairing Klein flip sockets (different from this video) with an Icon, Wera 813R, or Topeak Rocketlite-it’s light and compact. I’m probably in the minority, but in my opinion, Klein makes MASSIVE, Goliath-like screwdrivers. I wasn’t interested in those and went for more compact options. The yellow ones seem better suited for people with bigger hands than mine.

  • @brianashbach4129
    @brianashbach4129 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

Great video, it's always good to have options when kitting out a small tool kit and double-ended bits can save space and weight. Klein makes/sells a lot of the short format double-ended bits with ball detent, more than you'll see at most retail stores. I think the 27-in-1 ( Klein #32307 ) you mentioned has the most of this style bits in one kit and is a good start. Can get 2" long double-ended bits with Megapro drivers, and Klein #32305 driver. These 2" long bits work with the Mossy Oak ( or Bibury also I think ) 21-in-1 multi tool with a magnet in the bit driver, and will also work in the Ozark Trail multiforce extension. Chapman Manufacturing makes 1/4" hex shank single-sided bits with ball detents that work with the Multiforce or any other multi-tool with the deeper 1/4" holder. Chapman bits are good quality, and they also offer drivers, extensions, and ratchets. The Chapman extensions would probably be a good choice for a higher-quality extension for the Multiforce, but they don't have magnets so best to use bits with ball-detents.
    Thanks!

Flat bits are 1000% the way to go for Leatherman. I can fit 40 bits in my pouch and barely even notice it. They work great as well. The ratchet/bit extender is a standard 1/4” anyway so if you want to use normal bits it’s quite easy.

I balked at the price for the ARC, came back to the Spirit X after getting a good deal on it, and really love it. It's a very well made tool with an excellent feature set. It's even made me come to appreciate other Victorinox multitool pocket knives I already own even more for their quality. I would have preferred the one handed opening of the MX Clip, but it wasn't worth the much higher cost compared to the one I purchased at a substantially discounted price.

I would say its a great set for every day use, especially if your just a diy'er or a normal guy. but as far as my work, it just a little too thick to fit in common sizes of kindorf, especially for the deeper gauges of it. with that said most popular sets(dewalt, millwaukee, ect) out now don't, as far as I know, so i ended up keeping around a small 1/4 driver for those situations.

But, it's a small tool without as many blade positions. Number 2, I want a great file; then a can opener. I can find 20 different ways to pop off a bottle cap. But, I only know 3 ways to open my can of beans without a can opener. And none of them are pretty. (spoon, rock and screwdriver) After these priorities I want all the standard blades. Leatherman bit Extension pairs nicely with the 711L Mini Ratchet to use the Klein ball-detent double bits (as well as the intended Leatherman flat bits for a lightweight carry option on lesser used sizes). When the Extension is placed in the standard 1/4" sized magnetic tail of the 711L, you end up with a nice-in-hand screwdriver. Likewise, the Leatherman bit Adapter brings the same Klein compatability to the Bond (or anything that fits in its square end, such as Victorinox Rambler's Phillips for minimal carry).

Dom' mused in passing about a Klein MT. A Klein MT would rightly pique the interest of many. Doubtless they could eventually produce a stout, solid product worthy of their brand.
Would they commit to the major tooling outlays and lengthy trial process to work out 100 inevitable kinks, before they're able to offer their first unit for sale?
They might figure they're doing just fine in the tool market, without troubling themselves with a foray into the MT one.

Nice video!😊 You discussed this concept in two earlier videos which included the Klien 11-1 & the 27-1....can the Klien ball detent drivers be used in the Leatherman bit extender? I think you might have said this as you mentioned it would be the only way that the Surge, for example, might increase it's range...Very glad that Lowes has kept Klien on...HD did not & there are no Lowes where I'm at....your concepts just emphasize the point that if the LTG does not make adjustments, they will eventually go the way of the dinosaur...they should be leading the way in the innovation you are talking about...Klien teaming up with the "clone" companies would give these companies a "purchase" in the market place in terms of an established company willing to work with the "new kids on the block"...😊

@@maxlvledcI'd really rather see a klein/leatherman crossover. I just think gerber has to many qc issues. This isn't something new either. As a master sparky I need a multitool to work every single time when 150' up in the air and it took me an hour to climb up there. Try not to forget any tools but also wanna keep tools to a minimum. Gerber multitools have failed me at the worst of times.

I been trying for years to get leatherman or gerber to sell individual tool part to their multi tool.
Like, at work I carry the leatherman wave, but i wish it had the same serrated blade that comes on the titanium surge- where it has the safety cutter (aka seat belt cutter aka wire sheathing stripper).
Some people don’t care about scissors but would prefer dedicated Philips and dedicated standard blade.
I never use my can opener but would like a second mini screwdriver.
I shouldn’t have to buy 3 or 4 different multi tools to be able to make my own.
I don’t get why none of the manufacturers can’t figure out to just say “size 1, size 2, etc” and people could buy all the specific parts they want to remove and install their own parts they want

A bit off topic but any chance you could recommend a belt clip for the wave that doesn’t break? I keep buying the leatherman branded ones and they breaks within the first month. I could understand if I stressed it a lot but I really don’t put a lot of force on it
