I've seen a fair few AI channels with AI images and AI voices, and people don't understand that it's AI, and sometimes will go to great lengths to 'defend' the AI as a person. People do not possess the ability to recognize AI.
They do, but they might not think about it enough to consciously recognize it's going on. That's the part I find most concerning, honestly- the subtlety. And how people don't question it or try to object, because we are coming to expect everything to be systematic and robotic.
I have always disliked and selected "do not recommend channel" to prevent the algorithm from promoting them, but sooner or later, YT forgets that I requested to not see the channel anymore.
They were never truly concerned with accuracy and veracity of information; they are interested in maintaining a narrative and being able to label anything counter to that narrative as 'misinformation' justifies getting rid of it and its propagators.
Just learn? Most of your body functions work by attention-dopamine system including immune system, inflamation, organ fuction and stres response. Your senses, memory, attention, emotional response it effects everything. It basically creates aquired ADD.
It's a paradox, AI "learns" from humans, but humans are being discouraged to "teach" because of AI. I foresee a future where knowledge will become exclusive, the elites will pay to have access to "wise people", and the masses will be educated from AI. Just like the medieval times, the elite had access to knowledge, and the people learned the facts from mouth to mouth.
Probably not. The whole video is probably written, recorded and created as a whole by an AI, with no human interaction (and posted). You can find quite a few AI that will make whole videos for you about x subject, doing everything by themselves (even posting say videos).
My guess is that it was too much work to sync it up, so they instead took the even easier route by just using openai whisper to transcribe the AI voice and have it spit out a .srt file.
You and other prominent Historical TH-camrs as well as any intellectual or Educational based youtubers, really need to form some sort of coalition and express the seriousness of this to TH-cam. The suppression of these AI channels needs to be taken very seriously
Unfortunately, social media giants like Twitter and Facebook rarely care about misinformation and the same goes for TH-cam. They only care if it hurts their bottom line ($$$).
That was hilarious! I just want to bring everyone's attention to 6:40 when the subtitles said "the squirrels of the wounded." 😆 It's not just history channels, I've seen science channels complaining about the same shit.
I know a 64 year old boomer that spams ai art books and TH-cam videos daily. He has the ai write, animate, and narrate each video. They are mostly crypto video and get rich content, he also spams the videos in 50 different languages.
Not really, AI is simply a tool and it's development is related more to practical applications in other science fields. People are the ones who are misusing it.
AI has no goals lmao, nor does it destroy creativity. Human laziness is destroying creativity. AI is a tool that can enhance creativity if used correctly.
Not sure if that's exactly what you meant but I agree in essence. AI don't have ambition or emotion. The programmers, I hope, don't want to curb creativity although that's likely the end result.
@@lumenox8541 The fact that AI prompt pushers call themselves artists is all you need to know. All intended to remove human creativity. I know it angers you; likely because you are an AI bro, but you will see eventually.
Ughhh this drives me nuts! Soooo many times I'm going through trying to find period artwork and it's just nothing but AI generated images. Super frustrating. I'm guilty of using a few as blurred backgrounds but it is just getting ridiculous.
That happens in a lot of topics lately, I hope they get no traction, or that YT will deal with them... which is unlikely. Try searching the web for some recepy, or even a solution to a computer problem, you'll find tons of "articles" where they stuff the document with tons and tons of background information about every little details before they tell you where to do those three clicks or that special command line you need.
They say that in the AI the renders are mighty fine, you ask for Richard the Lionheart and it gives you Saladine! Oh I don't want no more of AI life! Please ma I wanna go back to Vesuvio, please ma I wanna go home.
Histo-yarn - The most accurate element of that channel is its title. 7:02 OMG, the things we could say about the two-handled sword and the no-handled sword. 🤣 - Unintentional comedy. 8:04 Well, a see-horse might fit through. AI is nightmare fuel, for a very solid reason! If you consider the quality of the stolen input, this reflects the psyche behind the whole thing. This is the machine mind. Advanced AI means having learned to hide the horror better.
AI has its uses, but as consumers, we'll have to be informed of such abuses of it too. And right now, I've grown so tired of it that if I see AI imagery, or hear an AI voice I just click away. There are a few exceptions, like, I found a TH-cam channel that does lore for a series I like, and he uses AI voices and imagery (the images are mostly feed your imagination, setting the vibe), but explains the lore of the series in short novelette form of videos. I imagine he feeds the lore to an AI, and it puts out a short story, but it's fairly well managed and I haven't heard any bad lore from it yet. So that is one good form of it that I've found.
Dear Raffaello, have you ever watched the TH-cam videos by Andrej from "Geschichtsfenster"? He often struggles with misinformation about medieval topics not only spread by allegedly reliable documentaries in general but with AI generated images of the time in particular. He even dedicated one or two full episodes to painful AI depictions of the Middle Ages. If you like to watch him suffer for one and a half hours, look him up! 😁
Damn even humans hsvr no right to edit that.Tolkien was a genius and any edit or adition to his world should not be xone without his personsl authorisation
There is some light at the end of the tunnel, people will notice its ai generated and wont bother clicking on the channel. Meaning that the algorithm will start favoring the quality instead of junk videos. Thats the best case scenario, unless youtube allows to have bots like facebook lol
The Call of Cthulhu reference made me think of the film, "In the Mouth of Madness." Even the messed up faces in the paintings match. Side-thought -- why are AI images of ancient Greece and Rome always showing people walking around in ruins, even when it's supposed to be during a time of peace & prosperity.
AI makes art based on samples of images, and very likely, with how bad AI is, it is grabbing historical photographs and paintings as a reference. Most of which, of course, depict a crumbled Coliseum for example.
It’s not just channels that deal with ancient history or even medieval history. I watched a series on WWII where the AI kept on incorrectly saying famous German generals names. Why is it that the AI always sounds basically the same? And why do you bother to react to these videos?
I think the incentive structures will adapt as more problems like these reveal themselves. Example: Google just announced you'll get penalized for clickbait.
Some of the lines I've heard before in videos made and presented by humans. The AI sounds like that student who copy from different sources without even reading the text and hopes not to get caught.
that's what AI is ; a collation engine. no actual intelligence, just like the bluehaired lesbian folk yogurt weaving studies major that got diversity hired to censor non communists.. by messing with algorithms.
Not Historical Content, but once was watching some reviews of the Pilot Episode of a Cartoon Series to see different opinions; could tell one was AI because all the members of an Extraterrestrial Species were not only referred to as if their Species Designation was their Personal Names but also Mispronounced the Species Designation. (For reference it was a side/sequel series of a previous Cartoon Series; so you could tell they did not even research the background story/lore available in the baseline series.)
The "playing a video in the background and getting some shitty ai video as auto play" did happen to me. I was so pissed, yt could have give me a good video of the many channels I subscribed to, but no I got some ai trash. It's good that you talk about this problem.
Leather bracelets to you too mate! Keep laughing else there the tears may come. Quality content on TH-cam is still abundant, but you're not wrong about the A.I video explosion. Thankfully I have a good library for research as well as online sources.
6:43 Picture a medieval battlefield, the Throne of Hooves, the Clash of Steel, the Squirrels of the Wounded. Knights with their late soldiers of their time, all fell down to charge into battle. But the war of combat was far from glamorous. this is baked. Also for some reason the AI thinks that Capitals means Emphasis. All I can say is that the squirrels of the wounded haunt me to this day. Oh god. The squirrels. What terrible squirrels.
One question we need to ask is whether this is a new phenomenon or just more advanced because of bad AI art. A good example is all the misconceptions of the Middle Ages that come to us courtesy of the Victorians, such as illiteracy, lack of bathing, etc. Is the problem the same? Simple surface research, and an appeal to potential readers to make them feel good about themselves? Yes, AI allows you to do it faster without having to learn the art of puff piece writing, but the output demands of the Victorian era were different from the TH-cam era. Likewise, how many Americans grew up thinking that George Washington as a child chopped down a cherry tree and admitted it?
Whenever I consider how dangerous jousting was I always remember the fates of the sons of Henry II. Henry the eldest died of a fever, Richard died of an infection after a potentially survivable crossbow wound, John lived long enough to lose most of England's possessions in France AND the treasury and crown jewels while crossing The Wash and dying of dysentery (historically noted as a "surfeit of peaches.") just a few days later. But his third son, Geoffrey, Duke of Brittany, was trampled to death in a tournament.
Even Shad has said to keep AI in a box. As much ss he likes his AI "art", he has said that not all AI is good, and would likely hate this use of AI too.

Never worked for me. Yt just respondes they aren't doing anything wrong
Massed produced slop has had detrimental effects on the way people learn, especially in a shortform sense.
Just learn? Most of your body functions work by attention-dopamine system including immune system, inflamation, organ fuction and stres response. Your senses, memory, attention, emotional response it effects everything. It basically creates aquired ADD.
6:22 AI medieval alien tavern.
Thanks, Shad....
I see no prospect that A.I. will ever deliver advantages that outweigh its disadvantages.
QUITE the opposite in fact.....
Its crazy that the subtitles dont match the voice, given that the voice itself is text-to-speech
Probably not.
The whole video is probably written, recorded and created as a whole by an AI, with no human interaction (and posted). You can find quite a few AI that will make whole videos for you about x subject, doing everything by themselves (even posting say videos).
Agree, i was flipping out about it all video.
My guess is that it was too much work to sync it up, so they instead took the even easier route by just using openai whisper to transcribe the AI voice and have it spit out a .srt file.
0:10 after reading the title:HISTORY isn't the only thing being ruined by AI. The present is also being destroyed, as well as the future.
Remember when the internet wasn't just slop everywhere you go? Good times.
What part of the internet where you on? It's always been slop. Just varying degrees of slop.

The faces remind me of those really old paintings people try to restore and totally f**k up
... thanks for that. I love being reminded of what happened to the Ecce Homo...
Why boomer - age isn't enough - you choose to insult a labeled generation to feel cool?
And there's no function to block channels.
💯! That really is something that is very much needed! I get so sick of channels that I don’t want to see popping up in my recommended!
In fact there is now a "Don't recommend channel" function. Seems to work the few times I've used it so far.
@@skiapod6427 - how do you access that?
I also wish there was a "Watched" button, or icon.
@MrMetonicus It's on the 'three dots' menu next to the thumbnail. Shorts don't have it, for some reason.
Apparently it's not just history channels. It seems that AI is spamming YT.

Yes, he is able to to stream/record himself playing Half Sword
Not only is AI ruining history; one of its major goals is to destroy creativity itself.
Not really, AI is simply a tool and it's development is related more to practical applications in other science fields.
People are the ones who are misusing it.
Aye, it's really getting out of hand.
I set all AI channels on "don't recommend"
To be fair to our new AI overlords though: when the transcript is on on your videos, Google translates "noble ones" to "no ones"...
Come on Metatron, shooting that canon on a giant pigeon was funny as hell XD 11:54
the same is happening with LotR lore, full of AI
Damn even humans hsvr no right to edit that.Tolkien was a genius and any edit or adition to his world should not be xone without his personsl authorisation
Wanting to progress while systematically destroying records of where you have been is a fool's errand..
There is some light at the end of the tunnel, people will notice its ai generated and wont bother clicking on the channel. Meaning that the algorithm will start favoring the quality instead of junk videos. Thats the best case scenario, unless youtube allows to have bots like facebook lol
You mean like they don't click on content farm slop like 5-Minute craft and such? Yeah, wishful thinking.
4:31 Nvm the helmet-face, the woman next to it has a beard!
Circus was in town 😂
AI is ruining literally everything, not just history.
It’s not just channels that deal with ancient history or even medieval history. I watched a series on WWII where the AI kept on incorrectly saying famous German generals names.
Why is it that the AI always sounds basically the same? And why do you bother to react to these videos?
why? because this needs to be addressed.
I think the incentive structures will adapt as more problems like these reveal themselves. Example: Google just announced you'll get penalized for clickbait.
They did?
Wonder what counts as clickbait to them. It's not like there're humans behind their decisions to whether or not to ruin a channel.

I remember a year or two ago Kyle Hill had a similar video about AI science channels.

Same is happening in 2a channels-
There should be a label for channels when they are ai generated and give an option for opting out
4:30 Is that guy dual wielding, or is that one discontinuous lance/sword/pike?
it ain't just history. It's every conceivable topic. And music too. "AI" is causing a full-on aesthetic and information crisis throughout our society.
At this rate human TH-camrs will be obsolete soon.
6:45 Those Squirrels of the Wounded must have been horrible :))
the squirrels of the wounded....
The "playing a video in the background and getting some shitty ai video as auto play" did happen to me. I was so pissed, yt could have give me a good video of the many channels I subscribed to, but no I got some ai trash.
It's good that you talk about this problem.
06:39 "Knightly emocities?"
Leather bracelets to you too mate! Keep laughing else there the tears may come. Quality content on TH-cam is still abundant, but you're not wrong about the A.I video explosion. Thankfully I have a good library for research as well as online sources.

this is baked. Also for some reason the AI thinks that Capitals means Emphasis.
All I can say is that the squirrels of the wounded haunt me to this day.
Oh god.
The squirrels. What terrible squirrels.
I felt myself getting stupider just listening to that Ai voice.

Doubt it, I learn a lot from AI youtbe like how the Roman Empire successor is Dominos Pizza
"The Squirrels of the Wounded" figuratively killed me XD
As a Southern American, I will happily pay for "fried air". I'll buy anything fried. Including air.
Ever wonder if AI was trained using your content?
8:22 Is this picture one army fighting itself? 😅
I would say the way some people are using A.I. is ruining history. A.I. is a tool. You don’t blame the hammer for a bent nail.

It's time to create AI users that "watch" videos so the comercial value of ads drops and make Meta and Google do something.

Yep all by design 😡
What design? This is the natural result of people's desire to make a quick buck, lack of regulations, and unrestrained capitalism.
Ai will take over the world. Also Ai:
New Crusade?
DEUS VULT!
Someone should tell that to Shadiversity.
He’d laugh at this crap as well 😂
Even Shad has said to keep AI in a box. As much ss he likes his AI "art", he has said that not all AI is good, and would likely hate this use of AI too.
