    This is one of the best-filmed DH courses ever. Instead of zooming and panning on the racers, which leaves you with no impression of speed, the cameras are set up at the edge of the jumps and let you get an idea of just how hardcore this sport really is. Of course it's much more hardcore when you witness it first hand....

      +clicu Agreed, love the camera angles. They even have the 'action cam - on - rails' too. It's like "Cool, a technical section aaaaand yeah, he just flew about a football pitch", "There's another", "Oh dear jebus there's another..."

      Even more so when you actually do it. I miss racing. Never got to a high level myself but did ski with multiple US Ski Team members; I feel privileged to have skied with such talented folks.

    Christof Innerhofer: the most beautiful and best technical skier of the 2010s. Impressive his first minute of the race. A skiing lesson for the others.
    His only lack: not so fast on flat and smooth surfaces, opposite of what that amateur-like commentator said. Unhearable.

      And... He can't jump.

    forgot about that massive Trampoline jump! Nothing nearly that gnarly/long this week on the fairly tame S.Korea DH course, but all the same it is the Olympics, can't wait!

    i will never understand why bode miller started to ski so upright from the middle of the race after smashing that gate, never in an aggressive, aerodynamic position.. could have gotton gold if he kept pushing like the starting minute

    Sochi was a great rough, icy, bumpy course.

    "Innerhofer skis into break austrian hearts" is a great line.
    It's funny cause his first reaction of joy is so understandable but considering how well he had skied for the majority of the race, I'm sure he was a bit disappointing afterwards. He had it but lost just a bit of speed at the end and that's critical.
    This downhill in Rosa Khutor was one of the best ever imo, even better than the usuals at the World Cup.

    82 mph downhill around curves and over jumps....just crazy!

      Johan Clarey hit 100 mph at Wengen once; the overall record for the World Cup. I used to love ski racing when I lived in Alaska. I had the opportunity to ski with some really good skiers who went on to ski for the US Team.

    Mayer was Incredible good. Svindal, Jansrud, Feuz, Bode, die Chreme de la chreme. and a very hard and long dhcs. Perhaps under icy conditiones the hardest and lomgest.. in the world? What you think?

    I live in the uk,wish we had winters like u get in Norway/Sweden places that get proper snow so you can go skiing or snowboarding ,instead we just get cold ,grey sky's ,lots of rain & shitty snow for a few days that just gets you wet and miserable . I'd be a world class D,H skier now,instead we get curling,for fuuks sake ! No offence to the curlers,if u enjoy it ,crack on .

    Can anyone tell, how long these jumps go? Especially the Lake Jump^^ 70m??

    • @3101max
      @3101max 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      30-50m usually. FIS try and keep the jumps around 40m range except a few on the circuit like mausefalle in kitzbuhel and camelbumps in gröden which go over 60m...

    Nice downhil race, the longest course, everything was OK, but only one thing disturbs me: the American Bode Miller should have won the olympic title of men's downhill

    • @sebastiangieger7874
      @sebastiangieger7874 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Why should Miller have won the race? He was simply worse than a few other skiers.

    • @lucijanpraprotnik
      @lucijanpraprotnik 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gigs 98 because I mean this was his last chance to win a gold in DH, you know that!

    • @sebastiangieger7874
      @sebastiangieger7874 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Well, Miller at least had already won Olympic Gold Medals before that race. There are way more successful downhill skiers who have never won Olympic Gold

  • @lucijanpraprotnik
    @lucijanpraprotnik 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    So the most beautiful skiing of Kjetil Jansrud, who came from start to finish fast and without any big mistakes: I would give hime the best mark of skiing and catching the shortest line: number 1 (gold)
