    **IMPORTANT**
    This G5000 utilized in this video contains the Working Title G3000/G5000 mod (link below) which GREATLY improves its functionality and performance. If you do not have this mod installed in your Longitude the avionics may appear differently than in this video.
    Part 2 in a video series that will show how I strive to fly the Cessna Citation Longitude as REALISTICALLY as possible in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020.
    This video explores the Garmin G5000 avionics package in the Longitude. One caveat, however, is that this is not the stock avionics that comes in the game. I do have the Working Title G3000/G5000 mod installed (link below) which provides additional functionality of the avionics not found in the default version from Microsoft.
    Working Title Mod: www.workingtitle.aero/package...
    These first few videos in the series are mainly meant to introduce you to the Longitude and all of its components so you can become familiar with them before we put them into practice in a fully realistic flight.

    Finally! An informative video I can actually get something from. Soooomany TH-camrs these days are more interested in just getting a video out and rushing to do so. They go flying through the instructions as though the person watching knows what they are talking about. Throwing out acronyms, slang words, and contradicting extremely important details. If I were knowledgeable enough about all this information they’re hastily throwing out there I wouldn’t need to watch the video. So I don’t “like or subscribe”. This is the second of your videos I’ve watched and I am learning something. Keep up the good work! But PS, please stop using the word “utilize”. 😊

      Awesome, glad you were able to utilize the information! With the latest release from AAU1, though, there's so much more functionality in the G5000 that I should probably make an update video soon. All the new features make utilization of the G5000 so much more immersive, along with all the other components of the Longitude (what I now consider the best aircraft in MSFS) it just makes everything that much better! And yeah, I try not to use too many acronyms, because just like you I'm still learning, and utilizing words I don't fully understand doesn't make much sense in the long run.🙂 Thanks for watching!

    Despite the Working Title update, this video was extremely helpful for me. Thank you.
    I was going to ask if you were making a new video about the G5000, but the day after you upload it, Working Title will push out a new update 😊😢😊

    I love this!! This is really informative!! I've also been flying the citation longitude as my main plane that i fly the most for some time now and ive been operating it pretty realisticly which is really fun :D Keep up the good work (Also a tip is to watch some real world citation longitude videos on youtube to see how real pilots operate it)

      Yes sir! Love this aircraft, easily my favorite in the sim by a mile. And oh yeah, I’ve been trying to find almost any resources I can when it comes to real life operation… youtube vids, manuals, checklists, etc. It’s been a fun time!

    What happened to the next video in this series about doing a flight plan? I can’t find it. I’m actually most curious about how the VNAV works, I’m fairly comfortable with the flight plan. Also - great video!

    • @skytation
      @skytation  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah so I started this series, and then about 2 months later Working Title completely refreshed the Longitude and added a TON more functionality to it. So my vids would’ve been outdated. Also, I found real pilots who actually deal with these planes in real life were WAY more qualified to make vids about this stuff than me. I would highly recommend checking out @thecorporatepilotdad he did a series on the refreshed longitude that includes VNAV tutorials and everything, he really knows his stuff!

    Hi, thanks for the tutorial. Can you please tell me if the three primary flight displays and the radios are also pop-up / pop out gauges? I'm coming from Prepar3D with a home cockpit and am rebuilding a panel to emulate the G5000 with three monitors and am hoping to be able to undock the glass gauges and move them to each respective display in my cockpit. I know people are doing this with various aircraft in FS2020 but it's just not something I've tackled yet. Any help and advice is appreciated. Thank you.

    • @skytation
      @skytation  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Talk about a well time comment!!! I also am in the process of building out a home cockpit for the Longitude! And yes, the 3 main panels (MFD and 2 PFD's) can be popped out, as can the GTC's (Garmin touch controllers). There is one on each pilot's side, plus the two side by side in the center. They can be popped out as well and moved to a touch screen monitor, and then using MSFS panel manager software the touch functionality can be enacted.
      Once I get mine underway I plan to make a video on it, so hopefully I'll be able to explain more in that video!

      @@skytation great thank you! I’m looking to make a somewhat generic panel for the Citation but also a KingAir 350. The newest ones use the latest Collins ProLine Fusion which looks similar with three large glass screens but no one is making any sort of facsimile software so the G3000/5000 is the way to go. Im just wondering if I may run into any big issues. Im very familiar with panel insertion methods in Prepar3D being an old FS9/FSX guy but am very unfamiliar with back end options in FS2020.

    • @skytation
      @skytation  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@oldowl4290 Yep, I'm right there with you, pretty blind when it comes to this stuff, but just using TH-cam, message boards, and any other literature I can find to figure it out! In my opinion, making a cockpit for the Citation Longitude will almost "easier" than a traditional home cockpit...at least I feel like it should. Mainly because it's a lot of glass and a lot fewer buttons/knobs. I have a honeycomb yoke and throttle, and i'm considering just using the buttons/switches on those to map a lot of the ones in the longitude (at least the ones that make sense) and then see what's left from there.

    @davewills6121 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Appreciate all your doing, yet why is MSFS's documentation/manuals so spotty, especially for this aircraft. Nothing as far as i can see on the Garmin G5000. How can anyone learn the aircraft if there are no manuals on the core systems?

    • @skytation
      @skytation  ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed, but you are in luck! There is a discord channel for Working Title (the group who overhauled the Longitude here for AAU1) and they have a 130 page manual for the Longitude! If you google their discord you should be able to find it. While it’s not specifically a G5000 manual (not sure one exists for the sim, but you could find a real life one maybe?) it is a great manual that covers how to fly the Longitude and use all its features in MSFS. Let me know if you have a hard time tracking it down. Hope that helps!

    How do you display the waypoints on the MFD screen?. I’ve seen this on a number of videos but have not seen this demonstrated.

    • @skytation
      @skytation  ปีที่แล้ว

      So are you talking about on the MFD map, where it shows each waypoint plotted and your flight path to each one? Or do you mean where you can make it show a list of the waypoints on the bottom 1/3 of the screen?

    • @bobwillett3860
      @bobwillett3860 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@skytation sorry, I mean the latter, waypoints on bottom third of screen

    • @skytation
      @skytation  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bobwillett3860 Ok, that's what I figured but just wanted to check! On your main GTC controller go to Map Settings, then there should be a tab called "Inset Window", and then I believe the only option in there is called "Flight Plan Text" or something along those lines. If you click that it should show your active flight plan on the bottom third of the MFD.
      One caveat, this is all prior to the AAU1 update a few weeks ago...I am still finishing up building my home cockpit, so I have not had my sim running or downloaded that update, so not sure if that has changed. If it doesn't work for you let me know!

    the Flight plan from simbrief is included in G5000?

    • @skytation
      @skytation  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, unfortunately you have to enter it in on the G5000 manually if you create/file your plan on simbrief. If you set your flight plan on the world map screen in MSFS before you start your flight it'll automatically be in the G5000, though. But yeah, if doing through simbrief for VATSIM,etc, you'll have to enter it in manually once you start your flight.

    • @skytation
      @skytation  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      After its overhaul in AAU1 some of what was shown in these vids has changed a bit. I haven't decided whether or not I'm going to do any new vids on the updates, I think there's already several out there that do it better than I could. I do fly the new Longitude in my home cockpit, though, and those vids will be starting up shortly.

    • @skytation
      @skytation  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't believe there is a way to do that as of now, no. I believe with the Working Title refresh that's coming out for the Longitude you can add user waypoints, but I'm not sure if that is done via Lat/Lon or what, I haven't downloaded the beta so I haven't seen it yet.

    • @skytation
      @skytation  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, you need to bring up the touch pad on the screen of the GTC.... it is accomplished by clicking down on one of the joysticks on the main/center GTCs. I want to say it's the right one, but just try clicking down on each one of them using your mouse and you should see a touch pad appear on the screen of the GTC, and that will allow you to move around the main map on the MFD.
