I’ve been subpoenaed as plaintiff in California via certified mail to appear in a Chicago area courtroom. This trip isn’t without personal expense. Will I be reimbursed for my expenses that include overnight hotel stays and a rental car. Etc? Can I accept the fine to not appear?
How is the court going to serve a subpoena if I do not live in Washington State anymore? What is the legality behind making a witness come from another state such as California if I am witness for a Washington crime?
They can mail it. IF you’re needed, that’s IF there ends up being a jury trial, they should take care of travel. “They” as in the State Attorneys Office. This info might differ state to state. Talk with anyone that reaches out to you or look for contact info on the subpoena ourself, and they will note any conversation for the attorney.

There’s usually a contact name and email and or phone number on the subpoena. Usually you’re local State Attorney’s Office can direct you
