Ive played this game on and off since release and I only ever had much success with Easy mode and as a result have a ton of terrible habits because you can basically do easy runs without thinking nearly at all. This and the other video linked in the Steam guide are both incredible for actually learning how to play the game properly. Thanks!
I came up with an idea for possible tutorial: Best tactics vs specific higher levels monsters. Espetially mayby: - medusa (i hate those i really have no good idea how to approach them other than hunkering when they charge) - warlocks - high level exalted Seems like good supplement to this guide.
Had this game gone a little longer I'd have definitely loved to include tactics vs meduase or warlocks. A video I posted a while back covered bleeding warlocks (mostly frag grenades, because it's brainless with barbed weapons), and beating medusae with gas grenades, but I agree, leaning how to beat them is critical. If anything, I think just knowing what medusae *sounds like* is often the most important thing to learn to fight them!
@@xxxxSylphxxxx Oh right - gas grenades. Great tip, thanks! I usually do not take those (or use them soon after i find them and treat them as expendable items) since usually there are more important things to have in the inventory. Thanks!
@@kamilkaniewski6742 oh, gas grenades are the very best grenades (well, plasma are usually better, but rare, can't be bought etc!) Use the hell out of them, particularly for medusae! Thanks for the comment!
Easily one of the most informative Jupiter Hell videos I've seen. There really is a dearth of good instructional content for JH. Much of it is playthroughs with little commentary. Thanks so much for this!
Thankyou! With a better microphone, I'm hoping to put out more informative content in future (for this and other games). There is *so* much to learn in JH, it was my hope here to demonstrate just how often those 'little' strategies add up over the course of a run!(hence the single-run format of this tips video) Thanks for your lovely support!
Very usefull tips and tricks :). Did not know about: - the rocketcorner no dmg - the closing door trick with Warden Also - gratz on that Apoc win on the score board! Impressive :). Falagor here - cheers!
@@xxxxSylphxxxx :) Oh, this is hilarious - recently i cleared my data too (like 3 days ago) - wanted to challenge myself anew since after i came back after some break - there were lots of changes and old tactics apperently do not work so well on N! anymore. For example in the past my wins on N! were usually when i went Ruins->Shadow Halls for that sweet up to 50% hp regen buff. But back then gibbing enemy assured it would not respawn as exalted one. Now it only extends its respawn time. So far with those new changes i had problems to clear whole Ruins level before first enemy respawns so the 'temple' does not open (and when they start respawning it is only downhill) - will try it few more times but definetly there is something else that needs to be done to win N! now (have not won yet). Also - i have never won A! - so your achievments here seems really impressive to me :).
@@kamilkaniewski6742 viva la nightmare gibbing coming back! I'm looking forward to the change, I only got ~4 nightmare wins back when it used to, and never really got a chance to play a 100% run, but I loved doing that in DRL, and want to see what's possible strategically. Inferno difficulty is great in the mean time. It remains to be seen how apocalypse works if gibbing prevents respawns there... Given the increased enemy health, it might still be too challenging to 100%. I've never beaten apocalypse with my favorite class (technician). It feels really class-limited currently, but have a feeling that fireangel and sharpshooter+headshot might have a chance if gibbing and elemental damage kills things fo good. .
@@kamilkaniewski6742 oh, I nearly forgot... The temple now opens after you kill a few respawns! (it wasn't always this way, it was introduced a few months ago.) It was possible to open it before by 'dragging' enemies into a corpse-pile, but it's easier now that you can just shoot extras! Hope that helps! x
Currently struggling to get my first win and it's really helpful to see your thought process for various situations. You've done an excellent job explaining these tactics and why they work. Thanks for the great video!
Thanks for such kind words! I wrote a detailed guide on steam, but I think this video is perhaps a better 'introduction' for getting a win under your belt. I should perhaps mention that English subtitles on this video reveal all the things I forgot to mention. Anyway, glad it could shed some light for you! It's a wonderfully involved game. Good luck! x
Excellent video, thanks! The door trick for the Warden especially is gold. Would love to see more Nightmare level advice in the future. Seeing a playthrough with commentary makes a huge difference.
Re: Nightmare advice, I'll try to oblige that! At the very least I'll post some nightmare runs, but nightmare-specific tips videos sounds like a fun goal at some point soon. I recently took a few month's break from JH, so at the moment I'm re-learning all the new content before getting back to the hell that is respawn difficulties, but rest assured I'll put out some nightmare content soon! (I have a few nightmare runs posted here, but here's hoping I'll put out some more with up-to-date versions soon!
I recently streamed some nightmare play with a mind to chat a bit more. Something I found, which is almost certainly the reason you don't see many nightmare tips videos, is that during the game there is just *way* too much going on to really be able to give advice the way I was doing here! I'll put out all kinds of content in future including nightmare, but I can't promise giving good tips in a play-by-play. As for a specific tips-video; I'm not sure how much there is to cover that isn't applicable to earlier levels. It's basically just the different mindset that focuses on speed, and that comes mostly with practice.
@@xxxxSylphxxxx That was fast, looking forward to watching those. Sometimes its just the offhand comments on things that seem obvious to you that make a big difference, or little differences in play style. E.g. I'm a lot more conservative with medkits after watching you run around with 30HP and an inventory full of them :-)
@@stephenscothern8652 haha! I try not to do that so much when I'm on Io, or in danger of a missile turret hit or the like! :) I probably also take more risks earlier in the game because I don't mind going splat and dying so much there! I've heard from a few people that think that I stock up on too many medikits, and when I'm playing on lower difficulties I think I agree, but lategame nightmare just eats up so many of them, I have to really grab and hold on to every one I can for later! :D I'm also learning that the ancient boss regularly hits for 55hp in one turn, so I need to gobble up a few more there. :) Anyway, I'm glad the 'actual game' format of this tips video (rather than separate cuts per tip) had an extra bonus in that regard! My main goal was demonstrating how often we can do better than 'standard gun exchanges', which is where I feel a lot of players lose unnecessary health.
If you've already watched this video before, and are returning to absorb more tips, maybe watch the other 'take' I recorded for the same purpose: th-cam.com/video/8o8xF6zyswQ/w-d-xo.html It's the same idea, but obviously a different run, and while it covers pretty much the same areas, it will naturally offer a new angle and focus on these tips, perhaps helping even more!
There was a good opportunity you missed in the mines to smoke the exalted formers and talk about how much less dangerous they are in melee. Basically even more important to get them into melee for their slaps than with normal formers. Good video though :)
Thankyou! Isn't it amazing just how many improvements we can find from watching previous footage with a fresh eye? Great sign that we can all improve! Glad you enjoyed the video, and thanks for pointing out further improvements - that's what we're here for!
