    Basically, build a plain house and customize it to your needs and wants later. Good to know.

      yes 100%! Focus on the structural items and save by making your home yours after closing. Especially if you have eclectic taste like me. Have you built a new home?

      @@livinginStJohnsCo I have not. We've been renovating an 1830 house for 5 years and it's very custom. We are now considering building a larger home but looking at "plain" houses is hard when you're used to things like custom tile and Amish cabinets haha. This is a good starting point!

      If I can handle living in a 5 year long gut job structural Reno, I feel like building is a walk in the park 😂 but who knows! Yes it's @schmidtfarmhaus, and we are still renovating so not quite to the build a new house part yet. Just exploring options.
