Paul this is such an amazing tutorial. Any Wednesday you post a video is a wonderful start to my day. Thanks for giving us your time in doing these free tutorials. It is much appreciated by so many of us. You have no idea. And thanks to Margot for the time she puts in on the weekly challenges. 👨🎨👩🎨🎨
Paul, thank you for your tutorials! They always remind me that making art is not obsessing over whether I’m ever good enough (which is something I was taught in school and it holds me back most of the time). Making art is about having fun while creating, learning, practicing something and slowly getting better at it as a result. Your channel has always been a great learning resource and inspiration.
I love how you provided a beginner’s version similar to this one in your book and can’t express how much I appreciate that the pedagogy is created for a “complete” beginner which is hard to find. Once I develop my skills, I’ll definitely return to this and give it a go. Thanks again!
Une fois de plus, un tuto superbe!!! Impressionnant de voir votre scène de rue prendre vie peu à peu sous la magie de vos pinceaux... Merci et bonne soirée!
You are just an amazing artist, to bring out that picture from the first color blobs into a really sophisticated looking night street scene is just incredible. It has so much (European) atmosphere, thanks so much for your tutorials, I really appreciate them all.
All I could think about work today was getting home to watch your new tutorial ! Your painting and watching it come to life is so magical ! You make it look effortless Paul. Your figures came to life as I watched silently in awe :). Thank you as always, but I may have to pass on this one, it looks a little too advanced for me.
Wahouuu , oh lala le niveau est de plus en plus élevé, je vais tenter de le réaliser.. merci Paul...c est tjrs un plaisir de découvrir vos peintures chaque mercredi 😁
Great tutorial. Love the headlights in the white and thank you for adding the note about the bricks in perspective, with the overlay. Incredibly helpful. As always love the real-time painting section. Thank you again.
Magnific! Now that suddenly night falls so soon this painting is ideal for the atmosphere that is breathed these days. I also love in all your tutorials the moment of “final details”… Et voila! They definitely work their magic! Thanks a mil 🙏
Always so enjoyable to watch you paint and teach us step by step Paul. Thank you so much. I can't say Mike in Cali anymore because we retired and moved up to Oregon. Carry on my friend, I love your work...
Wow.... I honestly didn't think I could do this painting and make it look half way decent. Thank you for sharing your teaching talents with the world and helping this gal from Idaho watch, paint and grow along with ya. I look forward to Wednesdays to see what Paul will be painting this week! My family knows your voice and my little kids think I know you personally because you are always on my tv or computer.... lol. Tell Margo I also love the Fbook group and challenges. I have grown so much as an artist this year with the both of you motivating and encouraging us all to "give it a go''. Please, keep them coming. Thanks Paul!
Absolutely beautiful Paul and so many useful techniques to practise. I can’t wait to give it a go. Sincere thanks for all the time you spend bringing us these tutorials every week. I look forward to each Wednesday (Thursday morning for me)
Thank you Paul. I love watching how you make the painting come alive. I remain in awe of your layering technique and detail of brushstrokes creating that non-detail look I aspire to attain. God Bless!
Hello Paul Clark! (1 month later) I do like to report back when I'm pleased with the result. I finished it tonight and it's not bad. I've learned to take my time and leave it alone and return with fresh eyes. Even the cars and figures look o.k.! Thank you, P.C. I so enjoy your channel!
Everything in this painting is superb. The buildings and the people are marvellously painted. Love how you illustrated the city life at night with the night lights and shades. The cars and the sidewalk looks like real together with the street front. Thank you so much this terrific painting and for another great watercolor wednesday.
Beautiful illustration. The lighting is superb. I'd call it a mixed media painting with the gouache, pen, and pastel pencil, but that only matters if you plan to sell the work. Thanks for demonstrating a cityscape!
Another lovely tutorial, Paul! I must admit, I’m a little intimidated by this one, but I’m going to “give it a go”, as you say! Thank you so much! I love Wednesdays!
Beautiful painting. Love the looseness of it and the light. It's a bit complicated for me, but I learned a lot, and maybe one day, I'll give it a go. Thanks
Thank you so much for sharing this with us Paul. Your posts on Wednesdays are the highlight of my day and you keep me inspired to keep going and try to get better. I'm already waiting for your next video! 💖
I painted you last rainy city scape and all who saw it just loved it. So glad you shared your instruct and talent for another city street screen! Your so generous-thank you!
This is lovely! I am always so amazed to see a painting come together ... my untrained eye gets lost in the early chaos stage and then to see the painting emerge from random markings always amazes me. Perhaps one day I'll know where I'm going in my own paintings, too.
Yesss. We need more cityscapes from you! I've tried the rainy one a few times. Still have the line drawing, actually! My fave tutorial of yours was the Italian village where we only had an hour!
Just stunning Paul… the contrast of the dark car & figures is exquisite… The pastel pencil & white gouache -- perfection… i love night scenes like this. Please do more. Nice shoutout to Liron …he is very good. Always good to uplift our fellow artists.
Absolutely brilliant, even just dropping those little highlights in just the right places, you make it look so easy and inspiring. Thanks again for yet another awesome tutorial
Liron does cars really well! Yours turned out awesome and I really enjoy watching you paint. I was so happy to see a video today from you. It always brightens my day. I’ve been sketching this morning and planning to make a video. You make it look so easy but I know making videos takes time and planning. I know I can speak for everyone that we truly appreciate all you do for us (artists). Very inspiring to watch you paint. God bless you and now I’m off to go paint. 🎨🖌🖼
Cityscapes frighten the life out of me but you make it look so easy! Thank you for a fantastic tutorial, I shall try to summon up the courage to have a go!
Another Wonderful Wednesday and your magical rendition of an evening cityscape! I really look forward to giving this one a go as I truly enjoy working on any projects that involve lots of perspective. The great challenges for me will be making the vehicles and the figures as realistic as yours. If I can only come close to showing the soft glow of the city lights as beautifully as you have, I will be a very, very happy old gal! 👩🦳🖌️
It’s amazing how a few subtle brush strokes create suggestive details. As impressive as always Mr. Clark. Thanks for sharing another beautiful tutorial. 😊❤🎨
How awesome that you mentioned Liron! He is the nicest guy. I emailed him that I'm photographer & have a clear high resolution photo of my purple Mini Cooper if he was interested in painting it & he said YES! "Maxfiled" (Parrish) the Mini is his #9 painting 😁 Paul, you are the highlight to my HumpDay 😉 Great work as always 🇺🇲❤️🏴❤️🇬🇧
@@ArtbyPaulClark How cool indeed! The color is called Black-Eyed Purple so it looks both purple & blue. It's a 2005 & I absolutely love it! What year was yours & did you name it? 🚙
As always, it is amazing to watch your painting process. The way you turn a few daubs and strokes and marks into a beautiful finished piece is very inspiring. Thanks so much for the time you invest in trying to teach us all be better artists. There is a great balance of looseness and detail in your painting, that I can only dream of achieving.

Enjoyed seeing this painting, I thought that the white you added at the end really gave it life. Thanks.

Thank you, Paul. I like this one a lot. It's painted a kind of "loose" and the atmosphere is great. I wil give it a try! 😀
