      @Homeslicehero have you not heard a single korn song? Dudes been through a lot of fucked up shit, and just saying that his wife died isn’t just all that and shouldn’t even be a common thing to say like that, losing someone is probably a REALLY fucked up experience man, especially if you love them. Not just that but he’s been abused, bullied, near death situations, suffered from abuse of drugs and alcohol, his son has diabetes etc, even loss his mother the same year his wife passed too I beleive. I can go into detail in all of it and list way more but with all respect I won’t, it’s rather ignorant to say what you said, idk if you were being dumb or just genuinely wanted to know which I doubt.

      Of course he has a smile on his face, he has zero reason not to. He has beautiful women all wanting to be with him, he is in one of the most successful bands to come out of the 90s who created their own genre that 100's of bands were inspired by, he has 3 wonderful, healthy children. The guy is beyond lucky and he would be the first to admit it. He just chooses to sing about the darker side of life because there is always good and bad in life, and let's not forget the KoRn kids...his lyrics are for the KoRn kids, the ones who never found their place in this world, the ones who were bullied as children and adults, the ones who find salvation in his lyrics.

      @ENigma-um8zw 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      And to think mere yards or feet away from you nonconsensual sexual assault was taking place and women were raped at the Korn and the Limp Bizkit performances. That’s not a knock on the performers - I loved Korn for a min growing up they were hot in the mid to late 90s. But yeah Woodstock 99 was really wild I was too young to be there. I had a relative who want and said she barely remembers anything but that people were pulling her top off and grabbing her boobs like it was their right. So it was definitely weird energy, not unlike Altamont ‘69, where the bands and the shows were great but the energy and the crowd and the spirits in the air and the stars weren’t in maybe the best place and thus was an entirely different experience than the previous Woodstock iteration. And I’ve only been to Lollapalooza (06’-‘16) and Bonnaroo for two years and Coachella (it was the Daft Punk year, 2007) for two not consecutive years. Coachella was amazing but it is somewhat overrated. Lollapalooza is my favorite but I my be biased. Bonnarroo and Coachella are in more beautiful geographic settings and sprawl and ingenuity and I know everyone who goes or has went to some or one all have our own biases. Anyway I’m coffee stoned mornin ramblin, sorry for the blabalanche there. Have a lovely day, grateful you (and everyone) survived Woodstock 99! ;)

    • @ENigma-um8zw
      @ENigma-um8zw 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mick Dundee Amen, I still love them too. That’s where I apologize if my message was taken in anyway as an assault on the band or Jonathan because clearly they’ve all been through the rock n roll ringer. Many of which of men of faith now and there’s a sort of rad full circle Joseph Campbell (heroes journey) thing happening there I appreciate esp too when it sounds like it and perhaps preexisting conditions were taking such a toll on Jonathan’s health and wellness, even with the meth and booze and coke and smoke and backstage stroke, aside it was a wonderful interview. And so that’s where you are not wrong I should have probably done a better job highlighting the positive journey the band has been through and they still rock. But also additional to that Woodstock 99 was a fiasco to ‘say the least’ -and I most certainly did not say it any less lol. Long live Korn, long live Live music! Damn I missed so many good shows this summer (as did everyone else and the bands included) the great 2020 monkey wrench, at least the first main one, then there was the cop senseless life and breath slaying of Floyd and what that did to an already uneasy nation. So this is why I need to just say nuff said. And then be done with it, I get so rambly. Peace and love to you all, appreciate your time and I wish you and yours nothing but blessings and joy! :D

To know after watching the doc that after that concert Heads personal life became such a shit show in regards to his wife and the drugs etc etc. And to see the redemption of both Brian and Jennea at the end was a "whos cutting onions" moment. Im not gonna lie, that when they showed him playin w Korn for the first time in 8 years at Carolina gave me goosebumps. Edit: I used to listen to Korn religiously back in like 5th grade - (They were the first “heavy” band I listened to)
    I’m into all sorts of music now. I used to listen to Korn because it fit my punk attitude, then I quit for a few years. I’m 24 now and went back just to reminisce and I dig the heavy tracks, but I also understand the music now. Instead of just banging out to it, I get were Johnathan is coming from and now I have a whole lot of respect for him and the entire band, although I know it’s not everyone’s taste of music and I totally understand.
    It’s hard to explain and I’m sure it’s hard to understand what I mean by that, but if you know, you know.
    It’s something you have to experience for yourself. Some will get it and some wont. Those are just my thoughts on it, but anyway Rad ass interview.

    I just found the old Korn-Who then Now VHS in an old box in the basement from back in the 90s as a teenager. No VCR thou. I just remember the copious amounts of Coors Light drank in it.

    Love JD man! 35 and been listening to them since I was 12. Awesome band, awesome dudes! He’s such a chill down to earth interesting guy and one of my favorite vocalists in any kind of music! I could listen to him talk and tell stories all day man!

    I never knew Steve-O interviewed one of my heroes, it's two years late but it's good to see everyone and Jon doing well. Korn's music got me, like a lot of others, through rough shit. Their stuff still slams. Now I know why that cover track appeared out of nowhere, good stuff helping the kids as always!

      He is a wonderful person. Discovered Korn when I was 15 and thought it was the best thing I had ever heard. Its almost as though he was speaking my language. I hope to one day see Korn live its my dream.

    Korn's first album is one of the few where I remember exactly where I was when I heard it for the first time. I was fucking blown away...

      I actually don’t remember because I was so young. My dad was a 90’s kid and jammed to KoRn. I had a little microphone stand thingy when I was like 3 and I used to sing Blind and totally fuck the lyrics up.😂😂 The good ol days.

    Enjoyed the interview with John Davis! Interesting to hear personal life stories etc. memorable moments and where these musicians are now in life. I learned a lot about Korn today and wish Davis best of luck with his career. Thanks SteveO!
