While Dimash sings in 15 languages he is only fluent in his native Kazakh and Russian. He now has good English and a smattering of other languages otherwise learns lyrics phonetically - an incredible skill when you consider how Dimash transports us emotionally with every performance. Dimash was in the process of learning English at this time. Say... Da Da Da,... notice the placement of your tongue. Now say ..The.. and notice the difference. Most Slavic languages do not for the most part, avail themselves of the Th sound. So it will often be said as Da. Dimash now speaks English quite well. In China, they do not have the "sh" in their language, so he is known as Dima shee. In Russia he is known as Dimasha. But he is still our magical Dimash to all of the multimillions of his fans around the globe. There are good singers, and great singers, and then there is DImash.

I always ask myself as a non-English native speaker: Who speaks English correctly? the British, the Scots, the Irish, the Australians, the Canadians, the Texans, the New Yorkers ... everyone speaks English differently. For an Englishman, the American sounds strange when they speak. I've heard Americans whose English certainly doesn't match what I've learned is English. Serious question.

I wish people would stop spreading this false rumor about Lionel allegedly forbidding him to sing this song again. First of all, he didn’t sing this song as a part of any competition. He was a guest there that night. He competed in that competition in 2017. This was in 2018 when he was invited as a guest. Also, Lionel Richie never forbade him to sing. They had full authorization. Dimash even follows Lionel on Instagram which he wouldn’t do if there was any such issue between them. The “forbidding” thing happened the year before with Russian singer Vitas for his song “Opera 2”.

Wonderful. What a beautiful cover. He even makes the covers he sings his own and brings his own elements to the song that you would never expect. He is so awesome.
I grew up with Hello by Lionel Richie. I loved this song. But to be honest, I like Dimash’s version much better. Sorry Lionel. The melismas give me goosebumps without end.
At this point, he sang the songs phonetically, as he spoke almost no English in 2018. I think we would all have difficulty with Kazakh if we had to sing it even though we don't speak it.
At the end he says “I love you” in Mandarin and then in Kazakh. This performance took place in 2018 in the same competition where he appeared in 2017. In 2018 he was a guest. The people in the background were singers and the audience (they are the jury-members).
The Singer is a show in China where only established singers are invited to perform. All the singers invited to this show are already well-known artists in China who have already won awards. Dimash was invited as the first foreigner as a wild card and the youngest in the history of this show in 2017. They became aware of him because he had already won some important competitions in Kazakhstan and Belarus, among others. He was still completely unknown in China. Actually, it was intended that he would only have 1 or 2 appearances. But it came completely different. When he woke up the next morning after his first performance of SOS he was a megastar in China and even found bodyguards outside his hotel room. SOS’ first video had 600 million views when it aired. He was just 22 years old at the time. But he didn't win the competition because he was no Chinese. The following year they changed the rules and Jessie J. won it.
Unfortunately, Lionel Richie banned Dimash from singing the song again and I dont know if that’s still the case today.
The flute is called Sygyzgy and is mainly played in the Kyrgyz and Kazakh regions. According to Wikepedia it is traditionally played by shepherd horse herders. A wonderful sound.
Please react to Olimpico from his Arnau concert in 2019 next. In this song he sings in Italian. You can find it on Igor Krutoy‘s Channel. Olimpico is another masterpiece that Igor Krutoy wrote especially for Dimash’s vocal skills. It was written for the 2nd European Games in Minsk, Belarus 2019. And that’s why the lyrics are also very motivating.
This song and this performance from this Arnau concert is my absolute favourite🥰 I think this version is the best, because his performance is so intense and breathtaking. The light show, the background dancers. Everything. With this song in this version I always get breathlessness. The way he represents himself on stage, the hand movements. I think he has incredibly beautiful hands🤭(and apparently many cameramen think so too, since many of the camera shots during his performances very often only show his hands. Sometimes it seems as if he is conducting himself. This is really fascinating). And the facial expression, the look. There he looks so commanding😱. In my opinion, this version of Olimpico is one of the most impressive performances ever. If you don't know what the song is about, you'd think he was going to war and is calling his army to a lost battle 😅! It’s absolutely stunning. And I don't even mean the vocal part, but also his stage presence. The whole package. Oh wow I’m starting to rave again…🤤 Sorry but I can’t help it🥺. I swear it is mind-blowing 🤯

@@elianefonsecadosreis6135 Hi, I want to correct you on the birth of the Cyrillic alphabet. This alphabet has nothing to do with the Turkic countries. It was invented in the Balkan Peninsula in Europe in Bulgaria and was created for Slavic languages. Cyrillic is written in the countries of Bulgaria, Serbia, and Russia with slight variations in the number of letters. Kazakhstan as a country of the former USSR takes the Russian version of the alphabet, changing and adding letters accordingly to match the phonetics of the Kazakh language. I hope I have provided you with new information and knowledge.

I teach grades one and two and I find that the "th" sound is one of the sounds that takes longer for kids to learn to say. A lot of languages don't have that sound so it's one that many struggle with. Kazakh has some sounds that are very different from English! I've been having fun trying to learn to say them as I try to sing along with Dimash! Oh, that young man you were asking if he was a brother or contestant was another really good singer, Hua Chenyu. Take a look at some of this songs.

I was also interested in what sounds are more difficult to say in English depending on native language background. I have a friend to immigrated to Canada in early 20's from Russia and 40 years later still has sounds he cannot make.🫤
There might be some back lash from your interest because a few years ago many singer reactors critisized Dimash's language skills harshly to cover their obvious envy or shock. The fan base can get sensitive about this plus many fans are watching that don't comprehend everything you are saying in english. There will be misunderstandings. Please try to be patient.🤗
For other English performances try Adagio, Across Endless Dimensions, Give me your Love, Go Go Power Rangers, All by Myself, Be With Me mv., Stranger, Queen Medley, If I never Breath Again, Golden mv., and Screaming mv.
All the videos on Dimash's channel have subtitles for English.
Please consider reacting to some songs in his native language with English cc's like Samaltau, Durdurai, or Omir(Life) Mood Video.

I had to laugh when you said he didn't pronounce his O vowel properly, since when does Any pop singer pronounce any words properly? Also when trying to compare anyone to Dimash, firstly they need to have a perfect 7 octave range. Second they need the ability to sing to top professional level in every musical style from classical to rap in 16 different languages. I think that may just narrow the field down to just one. Who could that possibly be???

If he did not have the knowledge of every language he sings in, he would not be able to bring all the emotion he brings into every song. It is just a matter of logic. You have to understand what you are saying if you want to be able to feel any empathy to what is being said. And if he did not feel what he is saying he would not be able to be the Dimash we all love and admire. In each and every of his performances he becomes the music, he becomes the song. He is not singing to us. He is living it. This would not be possible if he just memorized the text. It is weird that you would even consider the hypothesis. It is Dimash you are talking about.

I think you may be mixing it up with Opera Two which he did not have permission to use and nearly resulted in a court case, however appeased by the fact that Dimash would never sing it again the lawyers settled out of court. Subsequently Vitas now sings the song in almost the direct copy of Dimash's version, without the beauty of Dimash's voice tones. It was the lawyers also responsible for Dimash being unable to sing Hello again in public performance. I don't think Lionel Richie was too happy about Dimash stealing his thunder but I think it was more a legal thing than jealousy, although who wouldn't be jealous if Dimash sang their song better lol. Dear p&p, singing in Chinese? The two main languages in China is either Mandarin or Cantonese.
There is a massive ignorance when it comes to knowledge of other countries outside of the USA, when US people react. My opinion!
Dimash is fluent in Kazakh and Russian, completely different sound, grammar to English.
In this video Dimash was 23 yoa. Do I need to say any more? We are now six years further in Dimash’s career and please carry on listening. You will be amazed. If this is your 3rd reaction, hurry up and listen to the tonnes of songs, playing instruments, compositions and videos produced by Dimash and his team. When you have updated to today you will understand what I am trying to tell you.

It appears that Lionel Ritchie was not pleased. The story that goes around is that he let him know he'd never give him the rights to sing it again. This remains the only known recording... Even english speaking singers change the pronunciation of english words in songs all the time but do we hear reactors commenting on those? Not at all. So, enough already. Hola. También Your love, Be whit me, Across endless dimensions, The love is like a dream, El amor de los cisnes cansados, su cover de All by myself y de Show must go on (fabuloso), y de la canción de Titanic.
