Very surprised you have never heard of a giant of the classical world, Placido Domingo. He was one of the Three Tenors (Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras) who toured the world and commanded $1 million each for appearing in concert. Placido has racked up 14 Grammy Awards in his lifetime. Dimash achieved one of his dreams to sing with Placido. For metal scream see The Story of One Sky, the mv for this is like a movie, Dimash wrote the story, composed the music, wrote the screenplay & acted in it too. This amazing song/video took 3 years from start to finish for Dimash & is considered a masterpiece.

As a American, I am not so much surprised as disappointed. It's one thing for pop music lovers to know nothing about opera but in this case the Three Tenors went pretty much mainstream and Placido himself had a hit song, "Perhaps Love" with John Denver (who virtually every pop music fan knows). That song, by the way, is well worth revisiting and is a reminder of how incredibly strong Placido's voice was at that time.

But I think I've watched almost every reaction to this song so far and it's only been American reactors who have never even heard of Domingo. Even much younger European and Latin American reactors at least recognise his name even if they've never heard him sing.

I see you got some recommendations for his music video The Story Of One Sky on your channel . The MV was released on September 24 last year. He worked on this composition for three years. BUT, please do yourself a favor and slow down. It's far too early for that. I don't want to offend anyone, but the video left even die-hard Dears/fans speechless. Imagine stepping out of the Middle Ages and boarding a rocket without ever having ridden a train. I think the comparison fits quite well. Maybe you should wait a little longer and listen to some other, more "normal" Dimash songs first (whatever „normal“ means when it comes to Dimash😅). Normally this song and especially the MV is not the best video for reactors who don't know Dimash that well. Dimash surpasses himself with his vocal skills that I can't even describe. The video is the best I've ever seen. The message that Dimash wants to convey in this video is very important for him and for us and I think also for today's world. But believe me when I tell you that focusing on both is incredibly difficult, if not impossible. The video is full of symbolism. No camera angle is unwanted, every scene has meaning and should be watched carefully to understand the video. And then there's his voice. He has so many beautiful "older" songs in so many genres and languages that will blow your mind. Get to know him first. He's getting better and better. Please, you are in no hurry. Enjoy getting to know him. Take your time, you won't miss anything. As the saying goes: the way is the goal.
Just start with songs from The Singer competition 2017 in China. The Singer is a show in China where only established singers are invited to perform. All the singers invited to this show are already well-known artists in China who have already won awards. Dimash was invited as the first foreigner as a wild card and the youngest in the history of this show. They became aware of him because he had already won some important competitions in Kazakhstan and Belarus, among others. He was still completely unknown in China. The word “genius” gets thrown around pretty loosely these days. Dimash is an interesting talent, but a genius…?

I adore both of these men. I think I have an old lady crush on Dimash ;) One thing I wish is that he'd lean French pronunciation rules a tiny bit better. Please don't roast me for that! Even the best in the world can find a place to improve. On the other hand, I do love his Kazakh accent.
I'm not criticizing you, but please read it. In my country, European performers at a certain festival had to sing one song in our language. Without exception, everyone mutilated the words, some very badly, others even more, their pronunciation was sometimes so bad that we could not understand the words, but no one ever asked them to correct their pronunciation. And the festival took place every year and every year every European singer participating in the festival sang one song in our language. Several French, Germans and Finns have lived in my country for many years, they are public figures, they appear on TV and they spoil my language a lot. Not only in pronunciation, but also in grammar. And none of us ever criticized them for their pronunciation
Regarding Dimash: The Spaniards shouted - bad Spanish, let Dimash learn Spanish pronunciation; one reactor from Ukraine decided that Dimash needed to improve his Ukrainian it sounds too Russia; English speakers (not all) said he should improve his English. Some Russians thought his accent was too Kazakh. The Chinese were probably the only ones who did not criticize the pronunciation in Chinese, when Dimash managed to pronounce the word, they immediately praised it. Several people from Italy also thought that despite his good pronunciation, he should work on Italian. Armenians criticized not only the pronunciation, but also the entire song because it did not sound like the one performed by the Armenian singer. There were even political frictions on the forum (organizer's channel) over the song performed in Antalya, because in their opinion, Dimash's performance of the notes was too Turkish (melismata). So let Dimash sing only in Kazakh.. Instead of appreciating his efforts, everyone has something negative to say. I'd like to see how people who expect improvement perform in so many languages, performing one song in a given language. Is it possible to learn a language perfectly for one song, especially if you don't speak or write the language? And where to look for a specialist who will adjust the muscle tongue so that a given letter sounds like the original. @@ij4091 Yes, he has a lot on his plate. I'm not really criticizing him for not speaking French. I don't speak it either, but I think there are a few rules of pronunciation that could be learned that would really improve his presentation. The 's' at the end of words where it is not phonated in French is the one that sticks out like a sore thumb to me because it is often sung at the very end of a phrase and (as is good and proper and beautiful) he sings through the vowels. He's said he's not good at languages; it's his little sister who's the whiz at it. His English, my native language, isn't perfect and I don't mind that. I actually like to hear his accented English. I have an American accent and only barely speak one other language - "tourist Spanish" with a Mexican pronunciation. I get gently chided and/or teased when travelling abroad, so i get your point and I'm not offended by your reply. 🙂
As a side note, there are people who make a living coaching actors and singers on how to pronounce words/phrases in their work so they are understood by the audience. I think perhaps the Chinese show employed some folks who did just that, but I might be mistaken.
