I think most of us who have played tournament golf have been here, it's tough especially playing one tournament / year. Props as always for filming these rounds it's awesome content.
Expectations are high. Things can turn on a dime… I feel like rounds like these, you just have to hold on mentally and wait for the tide to turn for you
this is a highlight video of the year for me as an NLU fan. Soly, you definitely need to get into more events like this and film. This is supremely great content, regardless of how you scored.
I’ve been there too Soly… mad props to putting yourself out there like this. Getting there, the anticipation, feeling the game is in the right place… and then a total out of body experience where things are moving a million miles an hour, but in perpetual slow motion at the same time.
Love the video. We’ve all had it go that way before. Over optimism is a major double edge sword in golf. You start building expectations and then as soon you hit a bad shot or have a bad hole, all of that shatters and you’re very lost very quickly. I feel for you. I can also speak on the swing side from experience as a drawer of the ball that you had the club way stuck behind you. Cold morning, stiff back, you don’t get a good turn in the back swing and all of a sudden you snap one left. Then you try to turn more through the ball to prevent going left and you hit mega blocks. It’s a tale as old as time. Pulling for you Soly, I live vicariously through these rounds.
This just made me think of the scene in Black Sheep where Chris Farley goes tumbling down the giant hill and when he finally rolls out at the bottom, he stands up and goes “WHAT IN THE HELL WAS THAT ALL ABOUT!??” Describes tournament golf to a T lol
I play in the Skyview tournament every year and even though it's played on my home course, the difference between my normal rounds and a tournament round is huge. My first time, my hand was shaking as I was putting a tee in the ground or putting. I eventually learned how to handle the stress, but, it's real. Much respect to the players who play tournament golf no matter what the level.
We have all done this Soly. Props to you for posting it and gutting it out. It’s just golf at the end of the day but it does have a way of getting to you.
Soly, that tournament round is so relatable. Although it sucks to publish, it is honest and transparent golf content that needs to come out! Love the chat at the end with Icharito to get your feels out too. Great vid NLU
When it goes sideways consider treating each hole like it’s own tourney… think of the field average for the hole and go try and beat that. Then do it again… That always helps me focus.
As a strength mindset coach there are loads of quick wins. Nothing but respect for putting yourself out there to be scrutinised. Well done you. Ps - Practice the mental strength on the range as much as the swing
Soly, I'm 100% convinced that being a dad will help. The best mental approach to playing golf is when you realise the time between shots is not for thinking about golf but for thinking about your family, you'll be fine. All the best.
Soly, just like others have been saying, we’ve all had those rounds where you just want to go home 4 holes in. This past weekend I shot 80-91 and on Sunday I wanted to WD on my second hole. First I had a bogey on a par 3, then I had a 9 on a par 4, then a 7 on a par 5. So 3 holes in I’m 8 over par. The mental game is the hardest part for everyone it seems.
Soly, like my great uncle big Randy always said, if you don’t bleed, it don’t count. He was senile, soured, and no fun at all, but he sometimes struck a point. Keep wading through the muck and the mire - up here or in there - and we can’t wait to watch you raise whatever Lost Ark-esque trophy they award you with a crispy noon.
If you can't relate to this, you've never played tournament golf. My first mid-am qualifier I slapped around a 92. Spent my entire 90 minute card ride home doom-calling my friends getting them to talk me off the ledge of quitting. 😊 Good memories.
A few things from me as a current d1 golfer. Golf is really really hard. Everyone has these days. Few bad holes to start the round and the world caves in on you and you feel completely alone out there. Few tips. Keep at it obviously. It’s a lot of fun and the more reps you have the easier it gets. Less negative self talk and body language. It makes it way easier to lose faith in urself and not trust in urself when ur getting angry after every shot and wondering wtf just happened. Ik you Ik a lot of this just kind of reiterating as it is really hard to trust urself
Anyone struggling with the mental side of gold it might be worth reading: Golf is not a perfect game, by Bob Rotella. It’s on Spotify as an audio book. Great listen and changed my whole perspective on the mental side of golf
Sir Alex Ferguson used to describe playing Barcelona like it was sitting on a carousel and you cant get off. This is how it feels once you start playing like this. We have all been there. 😂 Unlucky Soly. Got to take the good days and the bad. Always enjoy these.
Any insights into what program you guys used to watch the video at the same time? Everything I've ever used has been a terrible resolution and delayed.
Great film, not that the golf was where it was. Like said below. All of us who have played tournament golf have had the same experience. It would have been easier just not to show the film. But You guys did and great credit for that. Next Year it will be the year. I promise. :)
People that have never played high level amateur tournament golf can’t understand the self imposed pressure. Welcome to Dad life golf. It takes a toll on anyone’s golf game.
This hit me right in the feels. I hit fades all month then hit hooks in tournaments. I think both of us stand up through impact and it creates that in-out path. Maybe a focus on posture would help us in tournament play. Fun to watch- looking forward to the next one!
You just didnt have it and got yourself in a bigger mental rut than you should have been in. Be frustrated because you love this event but dont lose confidence. You have played SO WELL in past years and you have the track record of it on camera. Embrace the process. Would love to see you post 2-3 more tournament rounds this year. This is your style of content IMO. Relatable af
He has the shots, just needs to play in more tournaments. and hit the driver more.. this feels like the final nail in the coffin for the obsessive iron off the tee boys.
Are you holding your breath while you swing? Sounds like you exhale heavily once the ball is on the way. You're then in fight or flight mode, which tallies with your feeling of not being able to get out of your own way with a card in your pocket.
I want Neil to Compete next year in the same group as Soly. For some reason, he usually turns it on when playing Icarito, if you get just a side match going and focus on that.... big things. Or the microwave man gets hot and the boys shower the Floridian girls with MEGA BONUS.
Think it's a miss not having Hueber on these dissecting. He brought so much to these Film Rooms.
1000%. Was thinking the same thing Hueber was great on the bag and in the film room. Best NLI content with him.

So good. Favorite series from NLU. Raw, real, relatable
Soly, I’ve been there. You are not alone in that. Don’t let it prevent you from participating in such events.
Neil on Soly's tee shot on hole 7. '' Hold up, hold up, is that a real tracer'' lmfao
Love these vids.
We've all been there (minus being on tape). As a guy who's melted in tournaments far too many times, this triggered some PTSD.
I’ve been there too Soly… mad props to putting yourself out there like this. Getting there, the anticipation, feeling the game is in the right place… and then a total out of body experience where things are moving a million miles an hour, but in perpetual slow motion at the same time.

Neil’s comment on the little league “let’s go get a soda” to make it all better is so cathartic and relatable.
It's amazing how negative thoughts can completely consume a round. Then when it's all done you think, "what the f*ck was that all about?"

Amazing Video. Major respect Soly
Really clever way to do a one camera shoot with commentary added later. Great content. Thanks to Soly for standing up and reliving..
This is always one of my favorite videos of the year seeing Soly get so hyped up before the explosion.
Been waiting for this one all year! Far and away my favorite piece of content y’all put out. Let’s go Soly!
Agree with this
Must say I've never felt so anxious watching TH-cam golf. Love to see it.
Great video guys. We've all been there. Keep getting more tournament reps! I'll watch them every time.
This round brought to you by callaway
We have all done this Soly. Props to you for posting it and gutting it out. It’s just golf at the end of the day but it does have a way of getting to you.

Man I want to play in some competitions. This gets the juices flowing
Even though this tournament didn't go as planned.. I love that soley sat through it and explained things to us
Always look forward to the Gasparilla rounds! Tough R1 but way to bounce back for R2. Neil in the booth always makes for hilarious commentary as well
Great video. In the future, we gotta avoid spoilers in these film rooms though. I need nobody in the room to have a CLUE what happens next.
' Was that hosel!?" lol
Loved everything about this other than the score. Hard luck on a rough day but it was still very amusing!
Well done posting, Soly. Great round day 2.
Always love these Gasparilla vids
This was a viscerally relatable video
"You can't imagine that its going to keep going..."
Hold my beer.
"We're alive. Are we alive? We're kinda dead."
OMG respect, Soly. 👊🏻💪🏻❤️
As a strength mindset coach there are loads of quick wins. Nothing but respect for putting yourself out there to be scrutinised. Well done you.

Soly 30 seconds in “I do live in a trailer with my mom…I do got a dumb friend named Cheddar Bob” 😂
Soly, I'm 100% convinced that being a dad will help. The best mental approach to playing golf is when you realise the time between shots is not for thinking about golf but for thinking about your family, you'll be fine. All the best.
I know this feeling so well
Loved watching this.

Never seen anyone shank with a Driver before🤣I like the fact your playing partners don’t say a word, it must have been a long round🥲
Been there, done that. Incredible how fast golf gets away from you every time you can´t get away from that mindset.
Always my fav video of the year. Kudos for still posting despite not playing your best
Unbelievable views and even better experience. How can we get doolspac golf merch in that shop?
Soly, like my great uncle big Randy always said, if you don’t bleed, it don’t count. He was senile, soured, and no fun at all, but he sometimes struck a point. Keep wading through the muck and the mire - up here or in there - and we can’t wait to watch you raise whatever Lost Ark-esque trophy they award you with a crispy noon.
I was surprised that the course was so short.
If you can't relate to this, you've never played tournament golf. My first mid-am qualifier I slapped around a 92. Spent my entire 90 minute card ride home doom-calling my friends getting them to talk me off the ledge of quitting. 😊 Good memories.
I am sure Titleist was thrilled you shouting out all of their gear you used prior to this performance.
Soly- you should do a mental game podcast with the Par Train guys, it would be a great collab!

It’s so hard to watch this because of how great your swing is these results should not even be possible
When your game is on, tournament golf is the most fun thing ever. When it's not, I'd almost rather be at jury duty.
Sir Alex Ferguson used to describe playing Barcelona like it was sitting on a carousel and you cant get off.
This is how it feels once you start playing like this.
We have all been there. 😂
Unlucky Soly. Got to take the good days and the bad.
Always enjoy these.
You're a good sport, Soly
As a scratch player who has gotten ejected many times in tournament rounds this is deeply relatable.
The mental help quote cut deeeeeeeeep
We have all been there.
Any insights into what program you guys used to watch the video at the same time? Everything I've ever used has been a terrible resolution and delayed.
Like to imagine myself as someone who plays like Soly but this was the first time he's actually played like me.
Is that the real shot tracer! 😂
Needed them High Noons earlier!
This just comes out of a blue sky 😢
"Deeply relatable stuff here"
Great film, not that the golf was where it was. Like said below. All of us who have played tournament golf have had the same experience. It would have been easier just not to show the film. But You guys did and great credit for that. Next Year it will be the year. I promise. :)
Neil is one happy camper.
Been there Soly, been there. I have been seeing a sports psy and it has been really helpful.
People that have never played high level amateur tournament golf can’t understand the self imposed pressure.
Welcome to Dad life golf. It takes a toll on anyone’s golf game.
Soly, still 👑
Soly, any thought of playing some heavier/stiffer shafts? Something to take the lefts out of play on tournament days?
I felt like if I stopped watching I was abandoning someone in need. I like the idea of guys in real golf situations. TC mid am journey needs sometime
Has it been a year already??
This hit me right in the feels. I hit fades all month then hit hooks in tournaments. I think both of us stand up through impact and it creates that in-out path. Maybe a focus on posture would help us in tournament play. Fun to watch- looking forward to the next one!
what did playing partners shoot day 1 ?
Soly needs to follow Rorys advice and keep his head and chest up. Feel the positive energy and he'll smash it next time.
Tough going Soly but good battling on day 2. I’m getting Ricky Fowler water bottle vibes off you and that towel though….!
Haymes Snedeker laying the wood early.
Time to bring back the Frankenstein versa, pros only have to play 13 of their sponsors clubs.
Hello where to buy Neil’s hat
watching this is making me nervous about my own game and stability lol
Oh my 2011 rory at the masters. Hopefully, that means you destroy the field by 8 shots next round!
Think we need to bring Julie Elion in on these dissections
What's the Calcutta like for this tourney?
TH-camrs, they're just like us!
I am having flashbacks to Soly spraying it all over No. 2 a couple years back… One of the best 75s I’ve ever witness first hand
how many more years is soly gonna wear those little boy shorts ?
You just didnt have it and got yourself in a bigger mental rut than you should have been in. Be frustrated because you love this event but dont lose confidence. It’s the black sock white shoe combo. Easy fix
You need a 'hypnotist'.
He has the shots, just needs to play in more tournaments. and hit the driver more.. this feels like the final nail in the coffin for the obsessive iron off the tee boys.
soly just needs some more pressure rounds on the books to get him comfy
What happened to Huber? Need your Sherpa out there
Was that Clay Ballard you were paired with?
Need DJ ‘Tight, tight piece of property’
Are you holding your breath while you swing? Sounds like you exhale heavily once the ball is on the way. You're then in fight or flight mode, which tallies with your feeling of not being able to get out of your own way with a card in your pocket.
Where's Heubs?!
What are Soly's odds to win tourist sauce now?
I want Neil to Compete next year in the same group as Soly. For some reason, he usually turns it on when playing Icarito, if you get just a side match going and focus on that.... big things. Or the microwave man gets hot and the boys shower the Floridian girls with MEGA BONUS.
Soly obv rattled by the Shotgun Start😂 #PGATdickrider
I hate people giving away the video content with their comments, how can you turn it off
