I like the right side showing. Beautiful dress!

Both are adorable. Agree the fancier dress looks better with the right side of the fabric out.

I like the NO CUFF option for the dressier fabric. Nice job!

    Those are great dresses!
I love the difference it makes when you have a sportier, more informal fabric like the stripe and then the feminine floral. It's two different looks, for sure.
It was interesting that you asked the question about the sleeve hem of the floral, because even when you were first pressing it up I was thinking that if it was my dress with that fabric, I'd probably make it a regular hidden hem, hopefully it would be a little bit longer of a sleeve if it was only turned under 1/4 ".
Thank you so much for the tutorial!!

Would hem right side out. Love the sleeves facing out on the second dress. Both dresses are fabulous!

Thanks Diana. Love your tutorials as they are so easy to follow. I prefer the dress with the sleeves hemmed so the wrong side isn't showing. Looks dressier. But the way you did it first would be a nice option for a more casual look.

I love those dresses. I prefer the outside showing on the purple dress. The stripped one looked good with the sleeve it was more casual. Love your material

    Two cute dresses.
I would prefer the sleeve hems turned to the inside on both. My preference is NOT to see the wrong edge.

I like the more conservative arm hem. Sooo much easier than the Connie dress

Personal preference is the right side for a more dressy look and actually the length when you turned it in looked fab so maybe make them at that point?
Both fantastic dresses can't wait to make mine! Thanks girl for another helpful video! You make such a difference in my sewing journey! I really Love you and your positive energy Diane xoxo

On the dressier, floral fabric, I’d have the right side showing. This dress looks amazing on you - but then, you could make a dress out of a bin bag and you’d look gorgeous!

I very much liked this tutorial. As far as the sleeves are concerned, I wouldn’t show the wrong side of the fabric on either dress. If you wanted to have a rolled hem I would use a facing and then roll it up. Cute dresses though.

The reason I’ve decided to learn how to sew is because I want to be able to wear the cute, dressy but still casual look and can’t seem to find the kind of fits and cuts that I’m looking for at the store. I have a few shirts that I love and want to replicate them. I adore the hem wrong side out because of the transitional options.

I would do a 3" sleeve hem folded in and than fold it out half way so the correct side is showing.

My personal thought is having the right side showing instead of the wrong side.

Thank you for another great tutorial! I prefer the sleeves hemmed with the right side showing. I am debating whether to add the elastic at the waist... it looks great on you! I'm also happy that the kid version came out as a bonus with the adult version. Now I can match my littles! Ours will be knee-length.

I liked the right side out on the first dress. I think I may try hemming the sleeve with a small hem and then putting a little elastic going up the sleeve. There is another E&M top I did like that. Not sure-it may look goofy.

I can't wait to make my version of the dress. It is really cute! In reference to the sleeves, I think the flowered dress looks fine with the white cuffs since there are white flowers in the print. I would prefer the striped dress to not have the contrasting cuffs.

I would hem the dressier dress as per the pattern and you could tack it the other way if you wanted it dressier - maybe a little button or metal snap? 💖

This is very cute and as always it looks very good on you. I love this pattern too. With this fabric because it have white flowers, hemming the sleeves on the wrong side is not distractive. But I personally prefer to have a separate band on the sleeves and fold it outside. I hope you understand what I mean

Hi Diana, very cute dresses, I love the sleeves showing the wrong side for a more relax, weekender look. Could we add long sleeves, for automn look? You have a tutorial about adding long sleeves to a dolman shirt. It could be nice.

Also, does anyone on here have suggestions on a good channel or resource for up-cycling, alteration tutorials? I lost about 30 lbs and have kept it off for over a year now. Half of my closet is full of shirts and pants that are too big and I’d like to either size them down or turn them into something different. I’m looking for a channel like this one, great for beginners and Diana explains things so well.

I would always understitch a woven pocket but not so bothered with a jersey knit, it would depend on how fitted the skirt is.

Help. I can’t get the pocket to lay right. I’ve pressed and also sewed the pocket corners with sewing machine and serger. I’ve understitched. The pocket is all wonky in the lower edge. I’ve made sure they were lined up completely.

I personally don't care for the wrong side of the fabric showing. Especially if you want it to look more on the dressy side.
It probably wouldn't stop me from buying it in a ready-to-wear garment, but if I have a choice you're not going to see the underside of my fabric. 😉

I think showing the wrong side of a printed fabric is not great but maybe fun with a pattern other than floral.
