    I’ve had pretty much a whole week of that weather highs 30s to low 40s wind and sleet and snow and no fish . Heading out for a couple of hours here to see if I can catch anything but a cold . Thanks for sharing 🥃🥃🥃 :-)

      Hi again Mike I had another great days fishing on Saturday conditions totally against us bright sunshine and a cold east wind that was making waves upstream . I went home with a face like someone had smacked it for hours . then found something to take the pain away 🥃 Cheers Iain 🥃

    Great video Iain! Thanks for surviving all that weather and dodgy wading! 🥃

      The camera doesn't pick up the total amount of flash from the lightening of the clap of the thunder Brian. it was quite frightening I saw Eric down stream rushing to get out of the water at the same time I was heading for the river bank. All of my trips this year have been in water that's too high or rising but the weather seems a bit more settled but cooler .
      Cheers Iain 🥃

    Nice water Iain....maybe next time. I lost a big springer last saturday...to say I was gutted is an understatement...maybe next time...

      Kevin I think you should give yourself a pat on the back for managing to hook a fish . I understand the disappointment of not landing it ........... just think that fish may have been put off going for another fly and go on to spawn hundreds of other monsters for future catches All the best and keep your rod bent
      Cheers Iain 🥃

    Hi Iain, what a beautiful piece of water you were fishing there I thought with that storm and the hail might of livened it up a bit but no, Still it made for great viewing as always and thanks for sharing Iain. Steve.🍷👍

    • @IainSB
      @IainSB  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Steve the camera doesn't pick up the full effect of the lightening or thunder I think that the fish were swimming for cover while the anglers were climbing out the river . I never checked the weather forecast but will next trip
      Cheers Iain 🥃

      right place at the wrong time James . there seems to be a theme in my outings this year . change in the weather has been forecast just a case of finding the right place to be 😀.

      Hi James The camera doesn't pick up the flash or the horrendous noise from the thunder . I was ducking when the clap was right above my head . next time the weather forecasters will get my attention Cheers Iain 🥃

    I always crossed at the top of the island and worked down from there.

    • @IainSB
      @IainSB  ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't fished off the back of the island before Richard and wasn't sure where the top of the beat was . Eric wasn't that great at guiding. I may have to give him a final warning. The current at the point I crossed was deceptively strong. Cheers Iain 🥃

    Ah hard graft last Wed thur Friday Iain after the big coloured rise rise ..at Lees.. rather like Unicorn fishing
    At least river was fishable on Thursday
    Did get to cast at rising trout after a good March Brown /LDO hatch

    • @IainSB
      @IainSB  ปีที่แล้ว

      I had the back of the motor full of salmon gear and sandwiches no room for trout gear I may take some next trip............there again that might be when a salmon decides to come past and would grab the fly . Cheers Iain 🥃

    what line do you use?

    • @IainSB
      @IainSB  ปีที่แล้ว

      That was a new line that I had just bought Karl and first time casting with it . it's a Rio Game Changer 725grain f/h/I/3 I think that it would handle a 15ft tip quite easily . I am thinking of getting a lighter line for when the water warms up a bit
      Cheers Ian 🥃

    Thunder means best get out of the water with that ‘lightning rod’. No fish is worth getting electrocuted over … The elements were not in your favor in this video, unfortunately!

    • @IainSB
      @IainSB  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The recording does not pick up the intensity of the lightning or the noise from the thunder. I was out of the water a lot quicker than it looked on the video Cheers Iain 🥃

    • @dirkvannieuwenhove
      @dirkvannieuwenhove ปีที่แล้ว

      Rather safe than sorry! But it is important that you share awereness about this. Some folks just keep on fishing in such conditions, unfortunately!

    Fishing in the UK. Pissing down 95% of the time. Nice to see you have a go at it though. Does heavy rain/hailstones improve things at all??

    • @IainSB
      @IainSB  ปีที่แล้ว

      the chances of a fish in those conditions are nil I think I would have had more chance getting struck by the lightening . the river level was a bit high and that wasn't helping either
      Cheers Iain 🥃

      @Iain SB We need a new sport - shotgun fishing! 12 Bores (the gun, not 12 dull bastards), trout/salmon and whiskey. What could possibly go wrong? Guaranteed fun in any weather. Any takers?
