Betty, It was your channel that really got me into Keyboards. Your content was so welcoming and non judgmental and it was nice to see someone just talking about keyboards and just being themselves. To be honest I wasn't a subscriber and don't watch all your videos, but I've always gone back to your written guides for whenever I need a quick recap. Keyboards have become such an elitist hobby and people love to gatekeep newcomers because it helps maintain their "status", but it's thanks to channels like yours that really help the community as a whole. I remember when I entered the hobby and got my first mech (Anne Pro 2) and getting absolutely flamed by GMK fanboys and Keycult elitist--although, I have nothing personal against those products and their followers. I can't count how many channels I am subscribed to that have had the same or similar speech. You have a great channel and there will always be at least that one person in the comments, "we both know there's more," that has to bully or be negative and they make it personal. I know it is easy for me to say just ignore them and move on but we both know that is what you must do which is not easy to do just easy to say. This was as short and to the point I could make this comment so please forgive me Betty and those who also are reading this. Now about the keyboard. I like it and it isn't perfect but Isn't that the point of being customizable so you can make it your own? YES!, it is. This comment is really true. This hobby can either be super toxic or super welcoming depending who you talk to when you start off. What really makes a difference is if you tell someone you don't/do like something and they're mature enough to say that that's okay cuz this hobby is subjective.

@@fmtoussant The topic in general has a lot of drama surrounding it, which IMO, was caused by Glorious’ marketing. The way they used certain terms like “GOAT Stabilizers” and “Ultra-premium” just didn’t really sit well with a lot of people in the community. Yes, without a doubt, it is a huge step forward to inviting or newcomers into the hobby, but that also means many people might be misled into thinking the GMMK Pro is “top tier” or better than it actually is, which is why Glorious and everyone involved is getting bashed so hard. Unfortunately, some content creators like Betty and Alexotos were caught in the crossfire and received a lot of negative feedback as well. I think that many were just angry about aspects of the GMMK Pro and made them look elitist and toxic. I know that there are actually some people that are elitist and just gatekeep, but I really hope this isn’t the lasting impression of newcomers into the community. As an enthusiast myself, I would love to see newcomers and big companies enter the community and it really sucks that this is the first impression that a lot of people are getting.

A company that calls itself Glorious is of course gonna market their stuff as godly, and there's nothing wrong w/ that within normal bounds of advertising (ie no false ad). In any case, I want to see ergo / split keyboards take off. The human anatomy was not made for a single straight slab of keyboard. Separate pieces should be the norm IMHO.
@@fmtoussant I do agree that many things that were said were very harsh and were uncalled for. As for Glorious' marketing.. well it is what it is hahaha. The board might not be perfect or as good as they make it out to be, but I'm sure that a huge portion of consumers will enjoy the product regardless. Personally, I haven't tried any ergo keyboards because I'm not a huge fan of its aesthetics, but I'll definitely try it out someday.

All of these clowns that critisized the early streams/premiere of this board are actual keyboard warriors lol. How can you call yourself an enthusiast if you hate on a big company making a solid entry level keyboard to encourage others to get into the hobby. Just cause you spent $800 your custom mech doesn't mean you talk down on others. Following this release just made me realize how toxic this community is.

Awww come on, its just TH-cam. When people are behind screens on their keyboard, they suddenly forget the person on the internet is actually a person and then all the toxicity and rest arises. That's how the internet is, sad but that's just how it is. Just know that the huge vast majority of us are the opposite of those people. Its just that we don't praise you like that much in the comment section or anywhere cuz we just have normal conversation about the subject of the content unlike haters who go around and repeatedly spam their garbage and usually, the mean stuff stands out from the rest. So just know that we (the majority) are here and reaaally appreciates what you and the other creators do. Don't mind the small petty fishes. Please do more, thanks.
With this keyboard, I find that it got easier for some of my gamer friends to get interested in custom mechanical keyboards. And it happened organically. I didn't even ask them or coerce them to give custom keyboards a try. The brand recognition plus the ease of dipping their toes into the hobby due to the availability of parts from Glorious is a game changer.
for every hater there are hundreds of us who love and support you, i hope our support can fill up your mental space and leave no room for the mean comments to nag at you. this sort of thing can really affect your day to day workflow, so anytime you get reminded of a mean comment, just imagine hundreds of people pushing them away and helping you get back up

People are judging this keyboard super harshly because it come a bit from outside the keyboard comunity. If it was a custom kit that you had to group buy with a different brand name people would judge it totally differently. Honestly I'm impressed with Glorious actually attempting to talk to the keyboard comunity and putting out a pretty solid product. They have plenty of room for growth but I could never see razor or steelseries doing something like this. Great review. Ignore the haters.
Hi! So I've been watching your channel for the past months to get more info on mkbs. I wasn't a subscriber until today and I've only subscribed to 5 channels I guess. I don't understand how people can throw a lot of hate to someone they don't really know. And I also don't get it why a keyboard they haven't bought can hurt their feelings when having more options in the market is always an advantage for consumers. Is funny, I just saw a reddit post the other day. About how the toxic community had driven a girl off this hobby after her first build. Just because she gotten some clone GMK keycaps. Is sadden that this toxicity gets to you too. Stay strong, pay no heed to those "keyboard warrior" literally...
There's a surprising amount of elitism/snobbery in the custom keyboard hobby, but don't let that get you down. It's easier to criticize others from behind a screen than to provide value for others. As a newbie to the hobby, I'm glad that products like the GMMK and GMMK Pro exist, because I don't want to spend the time to explore every kit, group buy, or boutique switch out there. There's some of us who are OK with "decent" or "good enough", believe it or not, especially in exchange for accessibility. Chasing perfection isn't everyone's goal. But keep up the good work, Betty! Your reviews are super helpful, professional, and don't make me cringe like a lot of techtubers, +1 subscriber!

You can kinda tell you weren't enthusiastic about this review just from the tone of your voice, especially comparing it to your other more upbeat videos. I been diving into the custom Mechanical keyboard rabbit hole and I can say that you're one of the channels that I enjoyed watching along with Glarse. I actually looked up on what you had to say about the GMMK Pro because I want a decent but not bank-breaking keyboard and your review was great. People that waste their time being toxic online are small brain. Love your channel and videos, always happy to see more Asians representation everywhere.
Just ordered my first premium mech and the GMMK Pro seemed like the perfect first board. 🤷♂️ I'm super excited. But my wife is a little confused that I paid $533 for a keyboard I still need to build.
@@CelsiusPC correct. I went with the GPBT Arctic White keycaps from Glorious and their Glorious Panda switches. That price also included the lube station, braided cable and audio knob.

Jeez how could you like this keyboard? Just because it is a great value, right out of the box but can also be extremely customized when a user is ready to swap caps or switches? Just because it comes with nice screw in stabilizers? Just because it has a nice thick cable?! Wow really shilling it out when a quality product comes along. Im glad I wasnt tripping the base plate works well and with the Poly plate switches came out with the caps kinda annoying but I absolutely love the keyboard might have to change back to the stock plate haha
As someone totally new to this hobby who just bought a GMMK Pro, thank you. I appreciate how real and honest you are. I think it's really crummy that people get so snooty and judging about their hobbies. They don't realize that it keeps people from wanting to join in for fear of being judged by the community. Again, thank you for being real as hell.
Not gonna call them out, but there's fairly popular youtuber who did a live stream of your "first look" build with the GMMK people, and all they did was shit on the board. iirc at one point they said you weren't really an enthusiast and would basically praise everything about the board cause you didn't know any better. you should probably build a high end board and post a sound test here to shut people like that up. this community has a lot of insufferable pricks who think they're better than everyone else just cause they can put some pieces of aluminum and plastic together.
I just bought this keyboard after looking at reviews from other channels. I like the 75% form factor, the hot swappable nature and the fact that I'm very much a newbie to the hobby that I can just buy switches and caps and slowly try and mod it. Didn't know there was such hate for it? It looks great for a beginner board that can cross into enthusiast territory once you open it up and try your own mods.
You made a great decision! Again, keebs are subjective! It's all about taste and what you like! I think you made a great decision! I too, also bought a GMMK Pro and LOVE it! I bought some Unicorn switches from Hippokeys and love it even more now! I think that you can make whatever you want - the point is: if it makes you happy, it was the right decision! Came for a keyboard review, found some philosophy. Always, always, always, ignore the haters, and don't feed the trolls. You know the metrics - haters don't matter on the algorithm. And has someone who just was looking for a review, and had no idea there was this giant keyboard hobby - I love the fact that we live in a day where there are literally videos of people just pressing keys as a sound test - not my hobby but whatever floats your boat - don't let the trolls sink yours! Honestly, any outrage at a TH-camr for expressing an opinion speaks more about emptiness and a loveless life - learn about projection kids.

That real talk hit me right in the feels. Long time ago I tried to get my own channel off the ground, and things started to gain a little bit of traction, when I hit a snag. The community I loved and had been making videos didn't like my take on something. and not only did they trash me in the comments, they started whole threads just to attack me, chasing me from video to video, and not just for the content of my video, but for my race, my weight, everything. And the admins of that community did nothing to stop it, in fact, a few of them, under pressure from those out for my blood suspended my account pending a review of obviously fake claims from these people. It really destroyed my passion for the project, and so I left. I'm really happy you have kept going, and continue to put on your brave face, I love your channel and hate to see those bad guys getting you down. Stay strong, know that what you're doing is appreciated, and positive, and there are more good people than bad, even if we're not always as vocal ;)
Grateful to have found your channel as I’m new to the custom keyboard hobby. Just bought the Roccat TKL Pro but also looking to buy something as something cool I can totally customize & have some fun with as I run 2 PC’s with my setup. PS: As a fellow content creator, I really felt that powerful positive statement you made at the end. I still can’t imagine how people can be so hateful towards one another in comments on videos over absolute nonsense that nobody should ever be arguing about, but it’s because they can hide behind their keyboards & not take any accountability for their words. If you think the comments can get nasty about keyboards, you should see how horrible it is in my area, the fitness space. It’s filled with huge egos and horrible people who all have strong perspectives largely based on all the misinformation being spread by “fitness influencers”, so anyone who actually speaks the truth to help people cut through all the BS gets attacked and torn apart in the comments. It’s a serious problem, but that’s where having thick skin comes in really handy as a creator. I don’t think we can be creators without having thick skin and being able to not care about many of those unnecessarily nasty comments. End of the day, keep doing what you’re doing because you’re really good at it and deservedly growing quickly, and any negativity should just be looked at as noise that doesn’t deserve your time or attention, unless it’s meant as positive constructive criticism. Hey. Good review. I appreciate you putting yourself out there. One serious negative about the mk community is people with high priced keyboard will always hate on a board if it budget board. They feel like they must justify their $500 purchase by ragging on the budget. Since this board is very comparable for less than half price. It got hate from the beginning of announcement. Before anyone has even seen it or touched it. It got hate. How do I know all of this? Because I supported it on /mk subreddit when specs was released. Praised for checking every mk wishlist for low price. I got hate. Down voted. Nasty comments. Etc. Sorry for long rant but just wanted to tell you that it not you they are hatting on. Hatting you by association because they ignorantly hate the board. Stay strong. Stay with your values. Call out their ignorance. Peace and love.
I just want to say, you have really improved over times on your video. I started mechanical keyboard hobbies, not from looking from elitist on reddit, but starting from the very basic keyboard, which is keychron. Don’t let the elitist toxicity change the great content that you’ve made. I’m pretty sure that there are way more people who enjoys your videos more than the one that hates.

I came to view a review about a keyboard and ended with commentary on the impact of thoughtless comments of consumers/viewers/haters. It’s a shame as all reviews are subjective and open to criticism but if it impacts the reviewer so much that its actually in the review... then its time for a break! As to the review I enjoyed the detail and thought put into it and found it especially useful. Whether its sponsored or not makes not difference to me and I view all reviews and make my own decisions. Keep going Jake and Betty!

I remember when I entered the hobby and got my first mech (Anne Pro 2) and getting absolutely flamed by GMK fanboys and Keycult elitist--although, I have nothing personal against those products and their followers. But it feels like PC Masterace all over again, in an arguably silly hobby.

I can't count how many channels I am subscribed to that have had the same or similar speech. You have a great channel and there will always be at least that one person in the comments, "we both know there's more," that has to bully or be negative and they make it personal. I know it is easy for me to say just ignore them and move on but we both know that is what you must do which is not easy to do just easy to say. @@fmtoussant The topic in general has a lot of drama surrounding it, which IMO, was caused by Glorious’ marketing. The way they used certain terms like “GOAT Stabilizers” and “Ultra-premium” just didn’t really sit well with a lot of people in the community. Yes, without a doubt, it is a huge step forward to inviting or newcomers into the hobby, but that also means many people might be misled into thinking the GMMK Pro is “top tier” or better than it actually is, which is why Glorious and everyone involved is getting bashed so hard. Unfortunately, some content creators like Betty and Alexotos were caught in the crossfire and received a lot of negative feedback as well. I think that many were just angry about aspects of the GMMK Pro and made them look elitist and toxic. I know that there are actually some people that are elitist and just gatekeep, but I really hope this isn’t the lasting impression of newcomers into the community. As an enthusiast myself, I would love to see newcomers and big companies enter the community and it really sucks that this is the first impression that a lot of people are getting.
@@zapi4925 I see, sounds to me like all those folks did was project how shitty they are as people lol. A company that calls itself Glorious is of course gonna market their stuff as godly, and there's nothing wrong w/ that within normal bounds of advertising (ie no false ad).
In any case, I want to see ergo / split keyboards take off. The human anatomy was not made for a single straight slab of keyboard. Separate pieces should be the norm IMHO.
@@fmtoussant I do agree that many things that were said were very harsh and were uncalled for. As for Glorious' marketing.. well it is what it is hahaha. The board might not be perfect or as good as they make it out to be, but I'm sure that a huge portion of consumers will enjoy the product regardless.
Personally, I haven't tried any ergo keyboards because I'm not a huge fan of its aesthetics, but I'll definitely try it out someday.

After watching this and hearing about all the “custom” keyboard snobs in the world, this made up my mind and I went and bought the gmmk pro.
All of these clowns that critisized the early streams/premiere of this board are actual keyboard warriors lol. How can you call yourself an enthusiast if you hate on a big company making a solid entry level keyboard to encourage others to get into the hobby. Just cause you spent $800 your custom mech doesn't mean you talk down on others. Following this release just made me realize how toxic this community is.

Awww come on, its just TH-cam. When people are behind screens on their keyboard, they suddenly forget the person on the internet is actually a person and then all the toxicity and rest arises. That's how the internet is, sad but that's just how it is.
Just know that the huge vast majority of us are the opposite of those people. Its just that we don't praise you like that much in the comment section or anywhere cuz we just have normal conversation about the subject of the content unlike haters who go around and repeatedly spam their garbage and usually, the mean stuff stands out from the rest.
So just know that we (the majority) are here and reaaally appreciates what you and the other creators do. Don't mind the small petty fishes. Please do more, thanks.

With this keyboard, I find that it got easier for some of my gamer friends to get interested in custom mechanical keyboards. And it happened organically. I didn't even ask them or coerce them to give custom keyboards a try. The brand recognition plus the ease of dipping their toes into the hobby due to the availability of parts from Glorious is a game changer.

People are judging this keyboard super harshly because it come a bit from outside the keyboard comunity. If it was a custom kit that you had to group buy with a different brand name people would judge it totally differently. Honestly I'm impressed with Glorious actually attempting to talk to the keyboard comunity and putting out a pretty solid product. They have plenty of room for growth but I could never see razor or steelseries doing something like this. Great review. Ignore the haters.

There's a surprising amount of elitism/snobbery in the custom keyboard hobby, but don't let that get you down. It's easier to criticize others from behind a screen than to provide value for others. As a newbie to the hobby, I'm glad that products like the GMMK and GMMK Pro exist, because I don't want to spend the time to explore every kit, group buy, or boutique switch out there. There's some of us who are OK with "decent" or "good enough", believe it or not, especially in exchange for accessibility. Chasing perfection isn't everyone's goal. But keep up the good work, Betty! Your reviews are super helpful, professional, and don't make me cringe like a lot of techtubers, +1 subscriber!

You can kinda tell you weren't enthusiastic about this review just from the tone of your voice, especially comparing it to your other more upbeat videos. I been diving into the custom Mechanical keyboard rabbit hole and I can say that you're one of the channels that I enjoyed watching along with Glarse. I actually looked up on what you had to say about the GMMK Pro because I want a decent but not bank-breaking keyboard and your review was great. Jeez how could you like this keyboard? Just because it is a great value, right out of the box but can also be extremely customized when a user is ready to swap caps or switches? Just because it comes with nice screw in stabilizers? Just because it has a nice thick cable?! Wow really shilling it out when a quality product comes along. Im glad I wasnt tripping the base plate works well and with the Poly plate switches came out with the caps kinda annoying but I absolutely love the keyboard might have to change back to the stock plate haha
As someone totally new to this hobby who just bought a GMMK Pro, thank you. I appreciate how real and honest you are. I think it's really crummy that people get so snooty and judging about their hobbies. They don't realize that it keeps people from wanting to join in for fear of being judged by the community. Not gonna call them out, but there's fairly popular youtuber who did a live stream of your "first look" build with the GMMK people, and all they did was shit on the board. iirc at one point they said you weren't really an enthusiast and would basically praise everything about the board cause you didn't know any better. you should probably build a high end board and post a sound test here to shut people like that up. this community has a lot of insufferable pricks who think they're better than everyone else just cause they can put some pieces of aluminum and plastic together.
I just bought this keyboard after looking at reviews from other channels. I like the 75% form factor, the hot swappable nature and the fact that I'm very much a newbie to the hobby that I can just buy switches and caps and slowly try and mod it. Didn't know there was such hate for it? It looks great for a beginner board that can cross into enthusiast territory once you open it up and try your own mods.
You made a great decision! Again, keebs are subjective! It's all about taste and what you like! I think you made a great decision! I too, also bought a GMMK Pro and LOVE it! I bought some Unicorn switches from Hippokeys and love it even more now! I think that you can make whatever you want - the point is: if it makes you happy, it was the right decision!

Came for a keyboard review, found some philosophy.
Always, always, always, ignore the haters, and don't feed the trolls. You know the metrics - haters don't matter on the algorithm.
And has someone who just was looking for a review, and had no idea there was this giant keyboard hobby - I love the fact that we live in a day where there are literally videos of people just pressing keys as a sound test - not my hobby but whatever floats your boat - don't let the trolls sink yours! Honestly, any outrage at a TH-camr for expressing an opinion speaks more about emptiness and a loveless life - learn about projection kids.

That real talk hit me right in the feels. Long time ago I tried to get my own channel off the ground, and things started to gain a little bit of traction, when I hit a snag. The community I loved and had been making videos didn't like my take on something. and not only did they trash me in the comments, they started whole threads just to attack me, chasing me from video to video, and not just for the content of my video, but for my race, my weight, everything. And the admins of that community did nothing to stop it, in fact, a few of them, under pressure from those out for my blood suspended my account pending a review of obviously fake claims from these people. It really destroyed my passion for the project, and so I left.
I'm really happy you have kept going, and continue to put on your brave face, I love your channel and hate to see those bad guys getting you down. Stay strong, know that what you're doing is appreciated, and positive, and there are more good people than bad, even if we're not always as vocal ;)

Grateful to have found your channel as I’m new to the custom keyboard hobby. Just bought the Roccat TKL Pro but also looking to buy something as something cool I can totally customize & have some fun with as I run 2 PC’s with my setup.
PS: As a fellow content creator, I really felt that powerful positive statement you made at the end. I still can’t imagine how people can be so hateful towards one another in comments on videos over absolute nonsense that nobody should ever be arguing about, but it’s because they can hide behind their keyboards & not take any accountability for their words. If you think the comments can get nasty about keyboards, you should see how horrible it is in my area, the fitness space. It’s filled with huge egos and horrible people who all have strong perspectives largely based on all the misinformation being spread by “fitness influencers”, so anyone who actually speaks the truth to help people cut through all the BS gets attacked and torn apart in the comments. It’s a serious problem, but that’s where having thick skin comes in really handy as a creator. I don’t think we can be creators without having thick skin and being able to not care about many of those unnecessarily nasty comments.
End of the day, keep doing what you’re doing because you’re really good at it and deservedly growing quickly, and any negativity should just be looked at as noise that doesn’t deserve your time or attention, unless it’s meant as positive constructive criticism. Keep up the great work, and I’m looking forward to more videos from you going forward. 👍

Hey. Good review. I appreciate you putting yourself out there. One serious negative about the mk community is people with high priced keyboard will always hate on a board if it budget board. They feel like they must justify their $500 purchase by ragging on the budget. Since this board is very comparable for less than half price. It got hate from the beginning of announcement. Before anyone has even seen it or touched it. It got hate. How do I know all of this? Because I supported it on /mk subreddit when specs was released. Praised for checking every mk wishlist for low price. I got hate. Down voted. Nasty comments. Etc. Sorry for long rant but just wanted to tell you that it not you they are hatting on. Hatting you by association because they ignorantly hate the board. Stay strong. Stay with your values. Call out their ignorance. Peace and love.
I just want to say, you have really improved over times on your video. I started mechanical keyboard hobbies, not from looking from elitist on reddit, but starting from the very basic keyboard, which is keychron.
Don’t let the elitist toxicity change the great content that you’ve made. I’m pretty sure that there are way more people who enjoys your videos more than the one that hates.

I came to view a review about a keyboard and ended with commentary on the impact of thoughtless comments of consumers/viewers/haters. It’s a shame as all reviews are subjective and open to criticism but if it impacts the reviewer so much that its actually in the review... then its time for a break!
As to the review I enjoyed the detail and thought put into it and found it especially useful. Whether its sponsored or not makes not difference to me and I view all reviews and make my own decisions.
