    Thanks everyone for watching! I have two other parts in this series for driveway seal coating which can be found here. th-cam.com/play/PLRjVVLRlij19dww22_fu7Qe9QrmUDuJuh.html

    Nice video. Next time start at the Top of the driveway down to the road. Gravity is key with applying the sealer. Plus it makes it easy and allows the sealer to run down hill and get better coverage and not clunky patches that need more than 2-3 passes. Downhill saves time and product waste. 👍

      Thanks for watching! Definitely appreciate the tips. Even though the video looked downhill the driveway is fairly flat except for near the road. I had a wide angle for filming and it distorts it sometimes.

    Nice videos, Thanks for the detailed instruction, my issue is I am a 110 lb. 68 yr old weakling, I will be able to manage the smaller smart patch but the sealer I might have to hire someone unless they make smaller buckets that will be manageable for me. The repairs look great!I am inspired o tackle my driveway.

      @BrianWingard  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! The buckets for the sealer are rather heavy. If you could even find someone local to deliver them to your house that would help. I have an idea though as far as pouring the sealer. If you go to dollar general they sell pitchers for drinks for a few dollars and you could fill up sealer and pour it where you need in the driveway without having to lift and balance the heavy buckets when they are full. Or even buying a small bucket to fill with sealer. I know they have smaller empty ones you can buy at lowes or home depot that are gallon size. Good luck on your driveway!

      Thanks for watching. The driveway fits 4 cars and it took about 5 1/2 buckets to do it all.

    Great.... What about if heavy rain fall happens??.... In my area, I have drive way so planning to make paving tiles since heavy rain may damage the seal coat

    • @BrianWingard
      @BrianWingard  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching. Any heavy rain will ruin the coating the first 24 hours. Usually it takes about 24 hours to full set up roughly. I always try to watch the weather in advance to make sure no chance of rain is in site for a full day.

    Thanks a lot. I just bought a house and the driveway has some significant cracking and some low spots that are really pooling… plus some oil spots. One great thing about this house, Harbor Freight and Home Depot are less than 3min away. I will be getting on this DIY asap. I think temps are already too cold overnight for me to seal-coat until summer unfortunately… but I was wondering if you think it’s still a good idea to fill the holes and cracks now… then refresh any of that work that needs it when I can seal coat it? Or should I just wait until I can do it all at the same time?

    • @BrianWingard
      @BrianWingard  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! I would personally wait until spring and it was warmer again. The big reason is even if you fixed the dips if they were not sealed then water could go into the new patch and freeze and potentially lift the work you did. Oil spots would be fine to fix now. I did another video found here on fixing cracks with this product and that would be ok to do now since it seals itself. th-cam.com/video/ps6dN-mXUTc/w-d-xo.html

    it is possible to use the sealer to fill some cracks in the asphalt? Or is there a product in the market that can be used as filler and sealer?

    • @BrianWingard
      @BrianWingard  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching. In my own experience you almost always have to buy a seperate product. The reason being is most all sealers are thinner liquid and if you try to fill a crack with it as it drys it will crack apart. Most of the products to fill cracks are thicker and will not crack as they dry. Hope this helps.

    No issues with applying the coating to a damp driveway?

    • @BrianWingard
      @BrianWingard  12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for watching! They actually recommend having it this way. My guess it is similar to concrete and on a hot day if you do not have it damp then it will suck the moisture out of the product and possibly crack or not bond well.

    Hi Brian. I was wondering how the sealer did after a couple of weeks given the cold tempertures that you applied it? Did it cure properly or were there a lot cracks that showed through?

    • @BrianWingard
      @BrianWingard  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching. It turned out great. I will say though just because I have done a lot of driveways in the past if you see cracks it was usually applied too thick or some puddling occured with the sealer. I had cracking happen on one driveway that had a dip in it and the sealer settled some in the dip and it cracked there. Hope this helps. Brian

    • @BrianWingard
      @BrianWingard  ปีที่แล้ว

      I was just thinking also of one imortant thing too. Make sure the overnight temps are not too low after sealing. I would guess around 50 at night would be ok maybe even a little colder but anything lower you stand the chance of it not bonding well. I tend to try to apply the sealer on a sunny day or warmer day so it bonds quicker.

    hey Bud, will penetrated old oil affect the sealer?

    • @BrianWingard
      @BrianWingard  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for watching. I would use a degreaser or cleaning product over the area where the penetrating oil is. It probably would break down the sealer and not get a good bond if it was not removed. Hope this helps.

    • @jamiemorales2022
      @jamiemorales2022 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @BrianWingard ok so as long as the oil on the surface is removed I should be good Right? meaning the oil is sponged in deep under, but the surface is safe after the degreaser solution.

    How much did supplies cost? I have a company coming for a similar sized driveway and quoted 425....... Great vid!

    • @BrianWingard
      @BrianWingard  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching. Honestly it depends how crazy you want to go with it. You can get the less expensive sealer but this was on sale. Roughly $20-30 a can. This is a good 4-5 card driveway maybe larger and I think it was 6 cans. You can use a hose to wash it off but a pressure washer works better. You can even rent one of those if you do not own one. Other than that the crack sealer which is my other video about driveways may be around $15 or so. You will need the squeegee is around $15 roughly. So roughly a driveway of this size like in the video you may be around $250 with a pressure washer rental included.

      One big thing also if you do not mind waiting around september they start to clearance out the sealers usually. I am from Pennsylvania so they want to get rid of it before it gets too cold since it won't store well until the next season.

      @@Mahoney5881 No problem at all. My one friend actually does that as well but I usually just do my own. It is about half the price and also once you have the tools if you clean them you can use them again a few years down the road when you need to seal the driveway again. Also home depot is usually the place that clearances the sealers a lot. If you check on their website periodically they will adjust the prices. Also if you want to do it right away look at their website as they will do bulk pricing offers if you buy so man. A lot of times they will offer a better deal if you are buying 3-5 cans depending on what grade. Good luck with your project and thank you for subscribing!

    So buckets say 300- 600 square feet what do you think you averaged

    • @BrianWingard
      @BrianWingard  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Honestly even though they advertise that. I think I am getting around 250 square feet if not less per bucket. The issue that comes up is any small cracks or dips will gather extra so the numbers they give are for perfect driveways I would assume. Thanks for watching!

    How do you know how much to buy

    • @BrianWingard
      @BrianWingard  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching. This is just a rough gauge that I use to buy. Picture your driveway and for every car you can park which is usually 10x20ft I use about 1.25 buckets so if you have a 2 car it is 2.5 and it never hurts to have a little extra. If your driveway has not been sealed for a long time of say 5 years or more the driveway will soak in more and also it will fill in any cracks or rougher patches more. Hope this helps.

    Pro squeegee vs pro brush I’m torn….

    • @BrianWingard
      @BrianWingard  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching. I have used both and I think it honestly comes down to personal preference. I always felt with a squeegee I get a more even smooth coating on the driveway.
