Solo Wild Camp on The Ochils, Hilleberg Niak, Whisky Tasting

Officially the last day of winter, the ironically named Scots Nomad finally takes to the local hills.
This is my first wild camp of 2022.
Trying out a new sleep pad (Thermarest xtherm) and upgraded quilt (Thermarest vesper 20), also using 10mm poles on the Niak.
The idea was not to talk too much about the gear but just enjoy the experience of being back out there camping and working on the hill fitness, this definitely was good for the soul.
I had a storage issue with my phone, as a result I have cut much of the B-Roll of the area….
As a side note, the whisky was very much enjoyed and helped pass the cold night 😂

I love Ochils - definitely my favorite low hills range! Shame about the wind - drone cinematics would be brilliant at sunset!

Definitely, I’ve been off the hills for too long, good to be back, yes, I’m missing using the drone as well, need to have refresher course.
What kind of drone are you using for your footage ?

@@scotsnomad7395 Just DJI Mini2. It is my first drone, so I didn't want to spend too much on it. It is good for learning and if it will get lost in mountains or if it will fall into water, I will not be gutted. But when I see videos from Mavic 3 I can see how much better they are (in terms of quality). Sadly I'm not there yet - maybe when I will reach 1000 subscribers I will be able to convince my wife I really need it 😁.

I have the same one, but nit had too much time to use it yet…
When I get some time from work I am wanting to take it onto the hills again , and get practising..

It’s a great tent, it’s very easy for me to pitch, loads of living space, and good headroom, very robust shelter 👍
