В России ещё сохранились традиции братства людей, как у христиан, так и у мусульман. Желаю дождаться лета, а оно не за горами, скоро жизнь изменится к лучшему, перестанете болеть (видимо, сказалась дальняя дорога, волнения на переезд, физическая усталость и поэтому дала сбой иммунная система), а дальше жизнь пойдёт на лад по мере решения проблем с переездом. Насколько я понял, вы переехали в Нижний Новгород, город на Волге. Я тоже с Волги, но только ниже по течению. Уверяю вас - Волга вас летом не разочарует! Это главная река России! Её символ.
I lived in nizhninovgorod for 9 years and oh my how much I miss it..I am a gastroenterologist from the medical school there and ill be going back for my PhD..nizhninovgorod has grown when we went there in 2003 it was like a village but when I left it was developed and I hear its more developed now. Remember that in Russia you can ask for a medical service for free especially for kids. Doctors come to you place if you feel really bad , if a kid has high temperature. Ambulance is also free. And its very efficient normally. For kids all medical services are free even if they are not citizens. I am at home now with my daughter and my mom ... we all have flue ... ambulance came to my mom and brought her to hospital, she is already back home and much better. Wow what a service! In canada our Healthcare is supposed to be free but most times you have to pay for the ambulance, you need to book an appointment to see your doc which often takes a couple weeks or go to emergency and wait 4-7hrs before someone sees you.
Please don't misinform people! In Russia, medical care is really free (you just need to issue a medical policy, which has a very wide range of medical services, including calling a doctor at home or calling an ambulance team), but it is provided only to Russian citizens or foreigners with a residence permit status, for stateless foreigners - only assistance is provided free of charge if there is emergency indications (i.e., this is a condition that is directly life-threatening). Therefore, of course, you need to get legal status in Russia as quickly as possible and then medical care will be free and affordable, but in any case, even paid care here will be much lower than in Canada!) I won't be far behind you coming to Russia. I have been married to a beautiful Russian lady for 20 years (long story). We have had way too many hold ups but I am moving mid year. Russia feels more like home than my birth country has for a very long time.

Welcome to Russia! I have been living here for a long time already (originally from NYC). The country and people are great. Climate is probably the major issue but since you are from Canada it will be easier for you. Honey+ginger+lemon is literally the best remedy for fever. If you start taking it on the first day of feeling sick you can often even recover almost instantly. Now just eat a couple of spoons with hot tea several times per day. Stay well and best wishes!

My wife's parents live in a village in the Republic of Bashkortostan. They are engaged in animal husbandry. Bulls are raised for meat. they keep cows for dairy products. There are about 60 heads in total.

Hi Guys, I'm Russian living in Canada for the past 32 years, yes we are also planning to move back to Russia, mostly the same reasons and North America not as same as it use to be some 25 years ago. Russia today just a Holly Place to rase kids compare to Western world. Also, if you feeling sick go to nearest medical clinic, the health care there fast and awsome compare to Canada.

Good luck, you are a brave family. In 1971, I visited Russia while serving aboard the Coast Guard cutter, "Glacier" (Cold War era). The Russian people treated us well and were friendly.
I watched your journey with interest. I was wondering if you were on visas but you are not restricted to regions the whole country is open. I might have been easier to adapt to have stayed a few days in Moscow since so many people there speak English. You did not mention the bank but it is was in Russian for the phone app it as SberBank, the largest bank which is about the only one that has no English app. But their teller machines have selectable language and all normal banking can be done on the machines which are all over. If you called for a doctor they would come to your home and those are free. The hot water is usually burried so there is some reason they mounted them in the air. They are well insulated. They are for space heating so every building in a Russian city has warm interiors and hot water for faucets, showers is usually gas fired demand water heaters that heat very fast, usually mounted on a wall in the kitchen. That is normal drinking water that is also plumbed into every apartment. Central boilers for space heating are much more efficient than separate heaters in each home so every building is toast warm all winter It is really nice to have comfortable warmth in every building in a city. As soon as the young kids feel better let them play with the other kids, the youngest ones will be biligual in 3 months and speak Russian without an accents. The older ones will take longer, but you and your wife will learn very slowly. Adults to not teach children language, they synthesize it from their environment if exposed very yearly. By 5yo more of brain power shifts from language to fine motor skill manipulation of their environment. In the western model of education is it fully backwards and counter productive to wait until teens to start a second language. Their brain connections from birth to 3-4 is focused on language. Every year after 5-6 will be harder to pick up another language and thinking in that language. I am from California and visited Russia first in 1976 and returned many times and very frequently in the 90s then gave everything away and moved to St Petersburg in Jan 2000 and still love it more every day. The cost of living is very low so almost any income allows debt free life, and no country offers more access to culture. Another unique trait of Russia, the 183 cultures that make up the country all get along. Crime is very low, no homelessness, beautiful clean safe cities, more personal freedom than any place in the west. Low stress, low anger, and very honest and respectful people. I have retuned to the US 5 times in 24 years for 1-2 week visits and over the span of 3-5 years between return visits you really see the serious decade in all aspect of life, the government, the economic security of the family the division anger and fear is uncomfortable to even be there for short visits. Have a great time adjusting to Russia, it is a wonderful place to raise kids and to live.

Well we had 10 people and could not find any accommodations that would take us and we had over 30 pcs of luggage that would have been challenging on the train. A nice van ride through the country on a beautiful sunny day was exactly what we wanted

В России ещё сохранились традиции братства людей, как у христиан, так и у мусульман.
Желаю дождаться лета, а оно не за горами, скоро жизнь изменится к лучшему, перестанете болеть (видимо, сказалась дальняя дорога, волнения на переезд, физическая усталость и поэтому дала сбой иммунная система), а дальше жизнь пойдёт на лад по мере решения проблем с переездом.
Насколько я понял, вы переехали в Нижний Новгород, город на Волге. Я тоже с Волги, но только ниже по течению. Уверяю вас - Волга вас летом не разочарует! Это главная река России! Её символ.

I lived in nizhninovgorod for 9 years and oh my how much I miss it..I am a gastroenterologist from the medical school there and ill be going back for my PhD..nizhninovgorod has grown when we went there in 2003 it was like a village but when I left it was developed and I hear its more developed now. Remember that in Russia you can ask for a medical service for free especially for kids. Doctors come to you place if you feel really bad , if a kid has high temperature. Ambulance is also free. And its very efficient normally. For kids all medical services are free even if they are not citizens.
I am at home now with my daughter and my mom ... we all have flue ... ambulance came to my mom and brought her to hospital, she is already back home and much better. A doctor came to see my daughter from the "policlinika".
It's more or less the same in different parts of Russia. Just call 122. Or 03.

In canada our Healthcare is supposed to be free but most times you have to pay for the ambulance, you need to book an appointment to see your doc which often takes a couple weeks or go to emergency and wait 4-7hrs before someone sees you.
Please don't misinform people! In Russia, medical care is really free (you just need to issue a medical policy, which has a very wide range of medical services, including calling a doctor at home or calling an ambulance team), but it is provided only to Russian citizens or foreigners with a residence permit status, for stateless foreigners - only assistance is provided free of charge if there is emergency indications (i.e., this is a condition that is directly life-threatening). Therefore, of course, you need to get legal status in Russia as quickly as possible and then medical care will be free and affordable, but in any case, even paid care here will be much lower than in Canada!) Climate is probably the major issue but since you are from Canada it will be easier for you. Honey+ginger+lemon is literally the best remedy for fever. If you start taking it on the first day of feeling sick you can often even recover almost instantly. Now just eat a couple of spoons with hot tea several times per day. Stay well and best wishes!

My wife's parents live in a village in the Republic of Bashkortostan. They are engaged in animal husbandry. Bulls are raised for meat. they keep cows for dairy products. There are about 60 heads in total.

I watched your journey with interest. I was wondering if you were on visas but you are not restricted to regions the whole country is open. I might have been easier to adapt to have stayed a few days in Moscow since so many people there speak English. You did not mention the bank but it is was in Russian for the phone app it as SberBank, the largest bank which is about the only one that has no English app. But their teller machines have selectable language and all normal banking can be done on the machines which are all over.
If you called for a doctor they would come to your home and those are free.
The hot water is usually burried so there is some reason they mounted them in the air. They are well insulated. They are for space heating so every building in a Russian city has warm interiors and hot water for faucets, showers is usually gas fired demand water heaters that heat very fast, usually mounted on a wall in the kitchen. That is normal drinking water that is also plumbed into every apartment. Central boilers for space heating are much more efficient than separate heaters in each home so every building is toast warm all winter
It is really nice to have comfortable warmth in every building in a city.
As soon as the young kids feel better let them play with the other kids, the youngest ones will be biligual in 3 months and speak Russian without an accents. The older ones will take longer, but you and your wife will learn very slowly. Adults to not teach children language, they synthesize it from their environment if exposed very yearly. By 5yo more of brain power shifts from language to fine motor skill manipulation of their environment. In the western model of education is it fully backwards and counter productive to wait until teens to start a second language. Their brain connections from birth to 3-4 is focused on language. Every year after 5-6 will be harder to pick up another language and thinking in that language.
I am from California and visited Russia first in 1976 and returned many times and very frequently in the 90s then gave everything away and moved to St Petersburg in Jan 2000 and still love it more every day. The cost of living is very low so almost any income allows debt free life, and no country offers more access to culture. Another unique trait of Russia, the 183 cultures that make up the country all get along. Crime is very low, no homelessness, beautiful clean safe cities, more personal freedom than any place in the west. Low stress, low anger, and very honest and respectful people. I have retuned to the US 5 times in 24 years for 1-2 week visits and over the span of 3-5 years between return visits you really see the serious decade in all aspect of life, the government, the economic security of the family the division anger and fear is uncomfortable to even be there for short visits.
Have a great time adjusting to Russia, it is a wonderful place to raise kids and to live.

Anyone that is sane and intelligent that lives in the west likely has considered moving to Russia. Well we had 10 people and could not find any accommodations that would take us and we had over 30 pcs of luggage that would have been challenging on the train. A nice van ride through the country on a beautiful sunny day was exactly what we wanted
