Not quite sure, depending on the gate to be used by airlines which routinely changes. Best to check airport map and your boarding gate details

Did you have to go through security checks and stuff if you only are going to wait for tour next flight in the airport?

It depends on your next flight if it’s international or domestic. If international and it’s a connecting flight, you don’t have to. If it’s domestic yes you have to get your luggages after passing immigration
