      It was kinda scary up there. Supposedly the couloir hits 50 degrees at the very end. Im afraid to try it again because the route back is brutal if I dont connect with the top. Once at the top the descent route is back over and down Flattop. Easy peasy.

    I wouldn’t call it a fail. You attempted a climb that most people wouldn’t have the skill or guts to do. The views of Dream Lake, Emerald Lake and Lake Haiyaha from that ridge were awesome!

    We did enjoy it, thanks so much for taking us along! Not a "fail" for us, it was very inspiring and also loved when you put the camera down for the selfie, good to see you Nick

    Man, I enjoyed the hell out of this one, brother! Great attempt! I loved seeing close up footage of areas I've never seen before. This video has me so pumped up for my visit! Two weeks from tomorrow, I'll be arriving at my campsite at Hermit's Hollow. Wish we would have thought to exchange contact info when we met up on the Flattop Mountain Trail in 2020. Would enjoy seeing you again, and taking a hike. Glad you made it back from this hike, safe and sound. Great job!

    Proud of you! I’m glad you’re not lowering your objectives! Beautiful off-trail scramble. Great video. Keep up your lofty aspirations. I know what you mean, though. I’m 62 and it’s getting much harder. I climbed Fairchild no problem in 1973. I tried Hague’s and Mummy last summer and got my ass handed to me. Had to settle for Crystal Lakes.

    • @nicksangetta8874

      Thanks Eric! I have often thought about attempting Hagues and Mummy in 1 day from the Lawn Lake TH.. but at roughly 18+ miles and 5300+ ft gain its an absolute killer. Id be lucky to make it to Crystal Lake. I did Fairchild, Hagues and Mummy once but from the Chapin Pass TH. I skirted Chapin, Chiquita and Ypsilon and then went across the class 3 ridge (saw a bear up there!) to Fairchild. Then across and over Hagues and Mummy and down to the Lawn Lake TH think that way is much easier because you start out so much higher up. However the 2 car logistics is rough. But still, thats the hardest hike Ive ever done.

      @etsnyd 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I saw your video on your climb of Fairchild, Hague’s, and Mummy. What an epic. From Chaplin Pass TH is definitely the way to go. The Lawn Lake TH is a long trip and has got to be the lowest TH in all of Colorado. It’s hard for me coming from Seattle having to acclimatize. I still think about it, though. Hague’s and Mummy are the only two major Mummy peaks left for me. I learn so much from your videos. You do some very interesting and unusual stuff. Love the elk. In my day, there were no moose or mountain goats in the park.

      I guess the very top of the couloir is incredibly steep, but if you can get that part you got it!

    The book doesn’t say it but that gully is usually for a moderate snow climb. Not much info on summer ascents. The book also says class 2 rubble but now it looks steeper the rockfall has gotten worse I would be sketched out too. This is the only video of this route without snow. Sick footage

      Thanks Green Lenny! There is a good trip report about this online and it talks about it being the best in snow. I was hoping to fight my way up the scree. Lol. After sliding down the Isabelle Glacier I dont like messing with the snow too much. The trip report says the couloir hits 50 degrees at the very top. Im glad I didnt attempt it with my microspikes.. I was thinkin about it though.

      I hear ya. You were scoping out that class 4 move a long time when there is the easier bypass below it…you figured it out at 16:36. I don’t think it would have helped that much though with the gully in those conditions. That thing was gonna be very sketchy all the way.

    Wow, this was scarier than your Longs Peak video! I loved seeing these area. When I visit there and look up at the mountain next time, I will never see it the same after watching your video.

    Whew! The only thing that got me through this video was knowing that you had to have to made it out in order for this video to be up. Glad SAR didn’t have to bring you out injured or cliffed out. Great effort. Better to be safe and climb another mountain another day!
