- WOW! We go see the Twin Engine Renault 5 GT TURBO and it did not disappoint! This car is one of the main reasons we built the Twin Engine Corsa, it was a huge inspiration! 500 HP 20 years ago was no joke, it shown what was possible if you put your mind to it! It has been untouched, unmodified, since it was built 20 years ago, a compliment to the owner Mark for keeping in such good condition!

I remember this car when it first featured in Fast Car....so glad to see it still exists...massive respect to Mark the owner for not stripping it down. ✌🏻💙👊🏻

I have a Meganne Sport Diesel hot Hatch that has been worked to 250 HP & 450 N.M. toque ,6 Speed M.
Still loved it now as few Can Compete with it !
But Have owned 3 Reno 5 's ,last being one with 1721cc 5 Speed !
But the 5 Turbo's were always a very Special Car ,let alone being one with two Engines !

Oooooof right in the feels, remember seeing this car in Redline when i was a teenager. Its amazing that its still loved and cared for.

Is Ian nixan still around? He was a top bloke! If I couldn't do a job on my 5, Ian or Justin at europarts motorsprt were the only two people I would let touch it. You could get on the phone and have a chat with Ian and he would always help. The good old days.

I remember going to get my r5 some lowering springs in Stoke in 2002, and the twin engine one was in the workshop. Then I went over to Stockport to get it de-locked, and the twin engine golf was in that workshop! 😎
What a massive nostalgia hit. Seeing the magazine with phone logos advertised, takes you right back. An uncle had one of these, all standard but still beserk!

Ian had an identical one single engine, I believe this was sold to a 16yr old lad . I remember the police car going on his dyno also at a dyno day.

I remember when Ian at euro parts in Fenton built this, I was there before it was finished and it truly blew my mind.

Loved the Renault 5 turbos back in the day! Another car from Renault that was amazing was the 21 turbo 2 and 4 wheel drive drive! Tuned up these cars were amazing and underrated

@@markphillips6998 They did sound good. The bonnet vent on both Phase 1 and 2 were cool too. Seen 1 on EBay that’s a complete wreck there’s a few Clio 16V’s though a car I never had and went for a 309 GTI instead.

My mate had one of these in the 90's (single engine) At that time it felt like the fastest car i had been in it was tuned an tweaked a little not much. However it also felt like the most dangerous all that speed coupled with 0 crash protection and its only single skinned. We had a water balloon thrown at us once i think we were only doing about 40mph and it felt really very not good!!. I would never want even a minor bump in one. But still they are great little go kart.

The Renault 5, Ford Cosworths and the Mini Cooper were cars I was fully obsessed over being old enough to drive. Now that I'm old enough I'm not rich enough 🤣

Love this car so much. All twin engined cars do it for me. I know the pickup isn't around anymore but would be good to get Big Dub on the channel. I know it's still kicking around.
I am told the pick up is still around. Being rebuilt as single rear engine. I found a post on a page many years ago.

@@TwinEngineCorsa oh really? That's good to know. I remember when matey had the blue mk4 escort rear engined and wrote it off. Then built the pickup. Last I heard it was stripped and scrapped so if its still around, that's awesome. I passed pipewerx a couple years ago and saw big dub outside. First time seeing it in the flesh.

I have a red one fully restored in the garage on a spit... then I had kids 😏 soon as the kids grow up, it’ll be put back together 👏
There's a rear engined r5 turbo up the road from me ,it's a old tarmac rally car in a guys yard next to his garage lol you know you old when you can remember the twin engine golf built by Mr birch 😂🤣

Didn't they used to strap the intercoolers on them once u turned the boost up. Beautiful car and the engineering to make it work. Keep up the good work mate. 👍👊✌
The original intercoolers needed to be strapped as they had plastic ends that popped off with higher boost. The straps were just like long jubilee clips.

@@TwinEngineCorsa thought so,built some weapon R5s back in the day.squint who built the escort is still going over in Ipswich (Mjs).helped sort out a Cinquecento we had some years back running a mk2 Uno turbo engine

Escort was the pickup I hear it’s still around being rebuilt as rear engine, not heard anything for years on that’s. The twin engine mk4 golf is still going today but not the g60 shell. I am going to make it my goal to track them hence hassling Mark for months 🤣

@@TwinEngineCorsa I remember now. The Escort was blue and rear engined, then he cut the back off and put an engine back in the front. Think he also built a 106 with an RS Turbo engine in the back.
Good luck finding them, I remember you saying the Dubsport mk3 was a big inspiration when you were building yours and like I say, these videos are cool.
The only other car that needs 500 bhp less that the Renault 5 is the metro 6r4, terrifying there's absolutely no need lol

Is it actually legal to run a twin engine car on the road with both engines running ? Or do you have to run engine only

Due to illness yes the car hasent been on the road for a while.
Twin engine cars are perfectly legal, look at it on the principle of an hybrid, engine, motor. Both car work independently or together. Even Volvo advertise a “twin engine” car if your search google.
Perfectly legal to run twin engine provided the car goes through an IVA which this car hasn’t so not road legal
Avec des ailes larges a l arriere comme la r5 turbo bha ca aiderait pour le refroidissement vue que sur la r5 turbo les prise d air l ateral arrière etait aussi la pour refroidir le moteur mais un seul moteur aurait etait enplement suffisant 500 ch on peux les avoirs avec un celle moteur oui a l arriere ci tout et bien centrer et équilibré un gros 2L 16S turbo is one big bomb the cars yeee of sure just one motors the 2L16 s the clios rs ho megane RS 3 big turbo yes is good

Fast Car and Max Power days. Shame modern car have the same bhp so to make something like this, you need 1000bhp power to match the fun.
