my favorite bit of trivia is that in the book percy jumps into the river and when fans asked rick how tf did percy manage to make that jump from the arch he just said "i thought it was closer" (i love him lol) so we were all curious to see how it would look in the show
The original Chimera from Greek mythology was said to have the body and head of a lion, the head of a goat that could breath fire on its side, and a serpent for a tail (you can see the traits of those animals in the chimera from the show). It was practically Unkillable because it didn’t have a blind spot and had a a bunch of different methods of killing you. Bellerophon, another son of Poseidon, actually managed to beat the Chimera by taming Pegasus and attacking it from above. Since then whenever a combination of animals has taken place in a story it is dubbed a chimera since the OG chimera was a combo of multiple animals. Also if you’re looking for “lazy” demigods, I’d suggest looking at the children of Hypnos, the god of sleep. They’re perpetually tired and constantly napping. Not their fault though, it’s literally a part of their DNA (sort of)(gods don’t actually have DNA).

Yes, Echidna is literally the mother of monsters, so the Chimera is her child, along with almost every other mythological monster you can recall (including, by some accounts, the Furies, one of which is Mrs. Dodds/Alecto, so you can see why she sees demigods as the dangerous ones). As for Poseidon, outright acknowledging Percy as his son would be dangerous. Not just because, as Sally told him, being aware of who he is makes him more suspectible to monster attacks, but because he's a forbidden child. Thalia knew she was the daughter of Zeus (as Annabeth says), and we can see what happened to her.
