I turn back to this song a lot even through i played it about 7 years ago. In 7th grade we played this song and truly it was beautiful but unfortunately the summer following that performance our band director passed away. Even as I am finishing my undergrad I come back to this song to just take a step back and appreciate how fragile life really is.
As a French horn player in this song I have more measure rests than measures playing, out of the 92 measures that is this song the horns rest for 56 of them

What a beautiful piece isnt it? Played this at a district concert as 5th alto, such a wonderful experience to hear such a thing in person.
