Season 1 simply had The Dream Team working for it, rarely will you ever find passion projects like that, it created a masterpiece. And you simply can’t compare Saitama tier animation with average to good animation.
For sure, although the fact that season 2 had an infinitely worse schedule chucked at them with multiple other odd decisions from the higher-ups is equally as crucial to the animation quality dropping :)
Honestly the animation in season 2 wasn’t nearly as bad as ppl make it, it was great. Season 1 raised the bar so high that even decent animation looks mid in comparison
It wasn't bad in my eyes. It just stands out by comparison to S1. I found AoT S2 to be lacking in the animation department also after S1. I missed the thick outlines of the characters and the rich color saturation. But at the end of the day, animation does not take first priority. I'm all about the story and characters first.
Decent Animation is still bad Animation. Either is a good Adaptation or a bad one. Not in between. One punch man artstyle and drawing is so incredible that it deserve good Animation rather than a "decent" one. Tbh every manga deserve good animation not a "decent one".
It wasn't bad at all it was actually still very good but the immature side of anime watchers insisted that it was dog shit cause it wasn't on par or better than season 1.
Season 2 had to be rushed so badly, but the staff still managed to keep the artwork consistent and add banger moments here and there. As an animator i find it really impressive. (Also sad of course, since they have to overwork themselves for this). Ps. Where did you find all that awesome behind the scenes footage?
Yep they did an excellent job despite the insane time crunch! And sakugabooru has the goods, although it's often sourced from either said animator's Twitter or Instagram so you can find it there as well -www.sakugabooru.com/post/show/78997
@@merceraeolymus i am pretty sure it being rushed is not the animators' fault, they had to do it because of the higher ups, so yeah it should've not been rushed but it's not the animators' fault that it was
Honestly, my only problem with S2 is the look. The metal shading or even the skin of some characters looks ass with or without animation. It just looks ugly at times. Look at the monster cell for example. Just learned it’s called Compositing
Bad compositing made the watching experience unpleasant. It gave off different vibes towards characters and atmosphere. This also happened to Haikyuu, the compositing from season 1-3 is far different than season 4, which latter got glow up and cleaner.
Yeah, this is really what made it such an unpleasant watch. Some of the animation wasn't that great, but that alone doesn't completely break my enjoyment of a show. I mean, just look at JoJo, half the show is just characters posing the way they appeared on the manga panels with minimal animation going on, and it's still great. But OPM S2's compositing wasn't just mediocre, it's bad enough that it actively detracts from the experience. Well, it's that, and the fact that they cut away from fights so often, usually at the moment of some attack landing, and then they just show the environment getting blown up or something. It destroys the coherence of the scenes in which it happens since there are just chunks of the fight that are missing entirely. I imagine that's more of a directing issue, but it might have been complicated by time constraints. It's certainly not the animation that was the real problem with OPM S2. I should say, though... frankly, I don't really understand where the compositing issues came from? It could have been time constraints, and I don't know enough to truly comment on that, but... it seems to me that with the same amount of effort, you could have made something that actually looked okay rather than giving us the borderline incomprehensible mess that we ultimately got. It just feels like someone took the final product, tried to add a poorly configured photorealism filter on top of it, and called it a day. The colour balance, the values of the shading and highlights, the weird blurriness everything seems to have... I just don't know what's going on there, or how it's the result of time constraints. I wish I had more insight into that process.
I've been saying exactly this since release. S1 was also simply impossible to top, even without the unfeasible schedule. It was an anime so good it got many people into the genre. I hope they get a reasonable work environment for S3 because the manga deserves justice and they are clearly passionate about the source material. Good video 👍
Great video. All the animators working on this with that insane schedule deserve praise. If season 3 happens, I hope they are given plenty time to work their magic.
I'm really happy you produced this video and dispelled a lot of common myths about the animation industry. I cannot stress how important time is when developing a series. AnimeAjay put it really best when describing time which was he compared the production process to a restaurant. Let's say you order some food and you expect it to be read in less than ten minutes. Sure, a talented chef could whip something up but it won't be as good if they had an hour or a week of planning for a meal. And considering how extensive the process is to produce a series like this, time absolutely matters. And in the case of OPM, as many have pointed out the talent behind that series was incredible for the first season. And also it didn't have to deal with a lot of BS with JC Staff. In short, it's unfortunate. Yes, OPM's second season story-wise is good but considering one of the prominent elements to its rise to fame was the stellar production work with the visuals/ presentation; it is hard not to notice. Still, I think OPM's second season is fine as its own thing. Here's hoping we get an eventual third season and it will be better.
I’m tired of greedy people pushing unfair deadlines on hardworking people. You can’t rush art and these nameless faces go unnoticed and underpaid. And those are the ones that didn’t die from exhaustion.
@@shadowninja1059 What a way to miss the point lol. The animators and directors at toei are exactly the people that suffer from tight schedules and low salaries, even if they're treated better than in other studios, at least from what i know, Don't blame the studio, blame the producers
It's simply a common thing in Japan, to the point where it's in their culture. Working hard (i.e. more than 40 hours with unpaid overtime) is seen as normal and anything else is slacking.
Watched OPM S2 for the first time earlier this year and I honestly wasn't that distracted by the lower production values. It was very much still enjoyable, the great animated bits did invoke S1's epicness and I liked the way the story development was handled. I guess it was all down to poor management from the higher ups, given that S2 took much longer than many have imagined, and audiences obviously expected more S1-like goodness. Hopefully, whatever is holding back S3 from happening right now gets eventually resolved and we do end up getting another quality season, as the manga has been insane lately.
Yeah kinda felt the same, I found it a fun watch with more so the bland colour design and compositing being my biggest gripe. It is a pity the higher-ups created a production hell for everyone involved tho.
I have a completely different experience- watched season one, loved it so much I read all the manga. I stopped watching season two after maybe 1 or 2 episodes (after waiting for it for years), as I knew what happened and I found the animation, color palette, etc annoying enough that I stopped watching. Maybe i’ll give it another shot, and obviously the studio did a great job considering the position they were in, but I really wish they had more time and funding to be able to match how lovely season one was.
I haven't seen it recently but I feel like It might have been more obvious for people watching it while it dropped since everone was screaming about it and u couldn't really ignore the amount of people talking about the poor quality while watching it making at least me focus on the quality more than I usally do
S2 animation was not that bad, actually pretty decent compared to the average anime. Wish they gave more time to the team, like 12 months instead of 6.
Yeah more than bad its just the difference, when I started to see S2 I expected to see the same style as before, it bug me out why it would have changed, I didn't think it was bad (I have a bad eye for art, I didn't know it was "bad"), just different and that was mildly annoying..
I’d love to see you do a video on world trigger, specifically season 2 and 3. One of the reasons why is specifically for Akihiro Ota’s scenes. His animation in world trigger is absolutely insanely polished and smooth
I don't know what it is about this channel over its contemporaries that do similar things, but ForgottenRelics covers *exactly* what I want to know and see *exactly* in a way I can understand it. The editing is phenomenally understated (as in it does a perfect job with what seems like immense effort to convey information in an accessible but not a flashy way) and after I recently re-watched and was re-horrified by OPM season 2, it's good to get this perspective. Others have expressed ambivalence toward season 2, but when you read the manga next to watching the show, a C-minus effort like this really does a heavy disservice to some source material that was genuinely lowered by the poor product put out for it.
Thanks! I constantly try and put myself in the shoes of someone who's learning about the animation side for the first time. And I guess I don't like boring content myself so I try my best to make it interesting.
8:52 THANK YOU , Ive seen a lot people say that Aoki carried opm2, and that bothers me that people say that, yes he did but, it wasnt just him who did great animation in opm2, so thank you for clarifying that to others
The thing I hated the most was the smudgy looking art which you mentioned was the compositing. And yeah the audio was weird I lowered the volume in some parts. Other than that of course the animation wasnt as good as season 1 but I had no problems with it. I liked the pacing of the story and unfortunate to know the situation the team had to put up with.
What bothered me most wasn't really the animation itself. It was mostly the direction of timing and execution, which made a couple of scenes awkward. Like when Genos was looking for a solution while being pinned down in a staircase. He looked so goofy looking around and his reaction when he found an fire extinguisher. Or how Sonics fight ended so abrupt without a satisfying slapstick timing. (In Sonic's case, I think they made it a little better with its timing in the blu ray release, Heck I saw they made some better polishing overall on the blu ray, so I bought it)
With season 3 being announced, I really do hope that it gets the proper adaptation it deserves now. Hopefully the production committee learned from the mistakes of season 2.
It still surprises me how they see this crazy popular show, and one of very few to get big worldwide, and do that to it. This was such a big name for them to not put the proper resources into.
@@basedondennis this one was leak by private leaker. he always change his username in twitter and now he is no where found. his leaks very trustable. and its also confirmed to be animated by MAPPA. about releasing in 2023 im sorry about it. i cant confirm it. it might be in 2023 or 2024🙌
Given how people are still defending the poor animation, art and sound direction of season 2, the producers are totally correct in their assumption. That people would lap up whatever sloppy job produced, and go to great lengths to defend it, as long as it is labelled OPM. No wonder they rehired jc staff for season 3
Coming to this video after the announcement of Season 3 is interesting because of all the hype going on. In particular, this video makes me hope that the studio involved in Season 3 is given the time and crew they need to make it a real spectacle! It's easy for us to want this new season to come out as soon as possible, but if it's made with enough care and attention to important details, we could see One Punch Man not only return to greater relevance within anime, but be given a more consistent production and release schedule. Let's hope for the best, and thank you for making this video!
Season 2 was so hyped for me. I fell in love with the manga, which I started because of Season 1's incredible performance. I had expectations as high as they could get. What we received, with at the time very little explanation, was an average level l of production, and an overall drop in quality. It wasn't bad, but with a few exceptions, it just wasn't all that great either. The difference in quality was so obvious to me, that I just couldn't enjoy the second season. I own every issue of the physical manga release. I own the Blue Ray for Season 1. I have watched Season 1 nearly 10 times all the way through. I have convinced many friends to watch the anime, because I was so enthusiastic about, and would literally set up days that I would come to them to watch it with them. I was, and to some degree still am, and huge fan. And yet, to this day, I have never fully watched One Punch Man season 2. I have seen most the fights, and I have watched about half the episodes all the way through, but I just don't really enjoy it. I would rather read the same scenes in the manga, than watch any of it happen in such a mediocre way in Season 2. For a long time, I thought this was just JC Staff being a lazy studio, with a poor budget, and less skilled staff. The truth actually makes me more upset than if that were the case. Knowing that they only had 6 months, and yet it still came out as good as it did, is actually impressive. At the same time, it shows that it could have been nearly as good as season 1 if they had been given the time. It's actually so much more disappointing to know that it was bad executive scheduling that ruined it. I feel so bad for the team that worked on it.
JC. Staff definitely have the talent. The animation in the ova in which Garou fights suryiu was amazing! They just needed time. With the announcement of season 3 I hope that this new studio (whoever that might be) takes their time with it. There are so many great fight scenes in the manga that with the right time and talent will turn into beautiful pieces of animation.
I love this type of videos since I wanna get into the anime industry more and I'm very interested in animation (sakuga etc.) and it's been really helpful
every time you show that kameda clip of saitama punching the subterranean, im stuck rewinding over and over. its SUCH an amazing and stylish animation cut
the garish shininess of metal was one of the main things that always stood out as an obnoxious intrusion to every scene for me. If they got rid of that I think it would have made some scenes look pretty good. The real frustrating part about this is that there was such a long gap of time between seasons and then they only give the animators 6 months to work. Hopefully season 3 gets the time it needs
So glad this was brung up. As unfortunate it was for there to be issues from this season I still really enjoyed it, honestly Garous story alone had me interested the whole ride XD of course there were more things to it but im glad they atleast kept it to a decent standard, I’d recommend watching it regardless~ 💙
I couldn’t watch season 2 after season 1. I mean… I know the writing is still good, but OPM Season 1 was such an insanely amazing complete package. I think what elevated it beyond just another joke anime was the fact that it was consistently animated better than many serious action anime are. The fact that the anime/manga doesnt take itself seriously yet the anime still had that insane quality put into it made it stand out above and beyond. It’s harder for me to enjoy Season 2 at all knowing what it could have been.
When i first watch ss2 (i didnt know the animation got worse), i still find the animation in ss2 good, but a bit blurry when compare to ss1. The only thing i hate is how saitama act jokingly when hes fight suiruy (forgor name) and suiruy was disrespecting hero, i think it would be better if saitama was pissed off
Bro I love stuff like this. I might not have the mettle to work in the industry myself cause frankly, I don't want to work myself to death, but seeing and hearing about the behind the scenes is always so refreshing. I still find myself go back to Boros vs Saitama at least once a year.
Same, I just wisth there was more people talking about the bts of anime productions, because while I enjoy making content regarding it, I enjoy watching videos on it just as much!
@@forgottenrelics1197 Yeah I can imagine that predicament. There's very few who can match your quality and a lot of the anime industry is still kind of a mystery. Might have to do with japanese work ethic, not sharing too much, NDA etc.
good video and i just wanted to correct that Yuji Takagi actually aren't in-house at J.C Staff but he's a freelancer with a contract with them also there's another old freelancer which is the effects animator masao okubo which while not much much but he did good enough.
Honestly, OPM Season 2's Animation isn't terrible, it was pretty average overall with some stand out moments. But after the Spectacle that Season 1 had, I don't blame the fans for feeling this was a massive downgrade. It just comes back to not having a director who had connections to Top Tier Talent.
I'm very glad to see you do another one punch video I hope there's more to come. I had a question that I was curious about if you look at comparisons of season 2 and then to the mangaYou can see a bit of downgrades To the scale of some of the monsters or something like that I'm just curious if they chose to do this because it would be easier to animate
another thing that no one mention is how Makoto Furukawa acting changes from season 1 and season 2, idk what the hell happend in the production team behind the voice acting, but god damn i wish makoto would voice act like how he did in season 1
The compositing was the big thing for me. It felt like they were trying to cover up cheap animation with flashy Snapchat filters. Even if the animation underneath was good, that’s just how it felt.
I love how real you are about these topics. You always readily admit when biased, but don’t vilify animators (when it’s unwarranted). It’s not an easy job and people are far too quick to jump to hate and unwarranted criticism
Thanks for clarifying that up. Now the real question is : why were they low on time ? The gap between the 2 seasons was around 4 years long, so why did the higher ups all of a sudden wanted them to put up with season 2 with only 6 months of prod ? That'd be the interesting question.
they didnt have enough manga chapters at the time if they did madhouse would have done a season 2, so they ended up dropping it no studio had the rights untill 2 years later, as of why they chose j.c staff, it was because no other studio wanted to adapt such a manga, it was either j.c staff or probably worse
Felt the same, the season would've looked much more appealing and generally, I think it would've helped mask the lack of movement in areas. The staff in AoT s2 took a similar approach and it looked great!
I have a lot of respect for J.C Staff for delivering something like that in just 6 months, it's sad to see people shitting on them not being as good as Season 1's "Dream Team". LOL Seriously, I'm just amazed Season 2 didn't end up like the animations in the 3rd season of Seven Deadly Sins. Check it out and judge.
It was 2015 when I first watched one punch man season 1 episode 1, it had amazing animation and humor that would excite me every time a new episode would come out. And when there was a trailer for one punch man season 2 I was so ecstatic and so much nostalgia flooded my brain. When I finished season 2 the storyline was interesting to me but I liked it regardless and at first the animations didn't really bother me I was just excited to watch the anime again since it's been 4 years since I've watched one punch man but I thought before the animation would be one of the best I've ever seen but it was pretty normal which wasn't really disappointing at first but I realized that they've been probably producing this and planning it for years and normal animations come out ? I was disappointed at that point but nevertheless I still loved the second season because of the humor and to make it even better this video explained in-depth why the animations were like that. And I fully now understand and respect the time and effort that they have put into season 2 and I can't wait for season 3 😀.
The team behind this anime truly was a talented one, I can’t believe they shined so heavily in such dire conditions, sadly more time and a better DOP can be a rare luxury even for sound end products like jujutsu kaisen
Time and poor pay is an issue that plagues animation industries all around the world, yet some ppl still think that poor animation is due to laziness. Everyone loves shitting on the animators instead of how the industry is run. Animayors really get no respect ftom anyone, not even the fans of the shows they work on.
ig we should all stop hating the animators, rather blame the admins & managements. it wasn't gonna kill anybody to give more time & a breathing room to the animators. also for the note, KyoAni's shows all look so great, some of their stuffs work from home, most of them r housewives. idk why other company's can't take it easy like they do.
Yeah KyoAni's model is a unique one although I'm unsure of how studios could make such a dramatic switch from the standard production model, but then again, I'm sure many staff working in the industry that look to KyoAni are wondering the same thing!
Certainly does give me a different perspective, but the question is, will season 3 be the same deal? We've got no idea when they started working on it or even who is working on it as far as I know so they could've put loads of time into it or they may only recently have started. Even though it feels like way longer it's only been 3 years since season 2 came out so I'm imagining it'll release somewhere between late 2023-mid/late 2024 since that's a bit longer than the gap between season 1 and 2
When i first viewed season 2 I thought the animation was below average in most scenes with a few great animation moments though the cgi arms for genos looks bad. Also they reused sound effects constantly. Season 2 of one punch man was immensely disappointing for me. But with the knowledge that season 2 of one punch was given much less time than season 1 I looked over the animation again and i think if the animators were given more time they could have created something good because they showed potential even with their VERY limited time. Its just unfortunate that opm wasnt given the time and attention it deserved.
Sounded good on paper, but bad during practice, that's as much as I could gather from watching this. Thanks btw, really cleared up a few spots that was irritating me to the core. Well done.
I had such high hopes for season 2, since the manga (Murata) every panel drawn is worthy to be a poster on a collection wall. But not just the animation, if animation compared to season 1 was a 6/10, the sound effects… 1/10.
Wow. I had already thought that S2 animation was passable and even pretty good at times, but I had no idea that their time budget was that tiny. I can only imagine how godlike this season would've been if they had 5x the time they were given
I'm looking forward to JC Staff taking on season 3. Sure, I would have loved MADhouse or Bones, but I hope JC Staff now has the time. Like, if you go directly from S1 to S2, you will be disappointed in the art and animation, but it's also completely amazing considering the time they were given by the higher ups. They did what they could, but the higher ups did basically everything in their way to not allow the animators and artists to go 100% satisfied.
Yeah, generally there's just a lack of staff everywhere, although if it wasn't such a harsh industry perhaps it would be a more desirable career. And I wasn't aware of the latter although it's sadly not a shock at this point. There are simply too many shows being made.
And we just got a season 3 announcement (that they have started working on it). Really hope they take their time on it and do the arc justice. Mega hype nonetheless.
J.C. still a great studio, a lot of series were so enjoyable and different from the standard. J.C. wasn't prepared to the negative and toxic fans reaction. At least you can't put at the same level the work of the production of Madhouse with them. Two differnet studios, two different creative directions. Too much behind for average fan anime people to understand. And Murata style isn't the most easy mangaka to portrays in the anime without a solid director and production. People in the past didn't put blame on Masami Suda for the less details compared to Tetsuo Hara original art in Hokuto no Ken. But I repeat, now fans are always so a pain in the ass that sonetimes they can't recognize a solid product to a bad product.
I always knew it was time. I animate myself and when I want to do sth quick it always looks bad. Not that I do that for a living though. I just like to do it for myself and on another note. I am really bad at it lol Great video and thanks alot
I’m praying that this doesn’t happen to chainsawman since that basically has the avengers of animators, even from opm season 1. But I wouldn’t be surprised since mappa could explode at any moment with the amount of projects

Especially the ones who are filthy rich I’m talkin to you Toei
@@shadowninja1059 What a way to miss the point lol. The animators and directors at toei are exactly the people that suffer from tight schedules and low salaries, even if they're treated better than in other studios, at least from what i know, Don't blame the studio, blame the producers
It's simply a common thing in Japan, to the point where it's in their culture. Working hard (i.e. more than 40 hours with unpaid overtime) is seen as normal and anything else is slacking.
Ended with wit studio dropping AoT season 4 because of the stupid 8 months deadline
Your rushed art is also out there forever with your name on it . Not good when looking for work.
I haven't seen it recently but I feel like It might have been more obvious for people watching it while it dropped since everone was screaming about it and u couldn't really ignore the amount of people talking about the poor quality while watching it making at least me focus on the quality more than I usally do
I didn't even notice
It’s funny you mention Season 3 being held back, because it’s highly likely it will be announced tonight with the final chapter in the Garou arc.
S2 animation was not that bad, actually pretty decent compared to the average anime. Wish they gave more time to the team, like 12 months instead of 6.
Yeah more than bad its just the difference, when I started to see S2 I expected to see the same style as before, it bug me out why it would have changed, I didn't think it was bad (I have a bad eye for art, I didn't know it was "bad"), just different and that was mildly annoying..
nah
@@Jayfym912 it's still great, but it's just not the same animation quality that we expected
I never realized season one had so many different legends from different legendary studios, truly lightning in a bottle
The almost-long-waited video!! And you even talked abou Aoki-san!!!
Haha it would've been a disservice if I left out the incredible Aoki😤!
(In Sonic's case, I think they made it a little better with its timing in the blu ray release,
Heck I saw they made some better polishing overall on the blu ray, so I bought it)
With season 3 being announced, I really do hope that it gets the proper adaptation it deserves now.
Hopefully the production committee learned from the mistakes of season 2.
It still surprises me how they see this crazy popular show, and one of very few to get big worldwide, and do that to it. This was such a big name for them to not put the proper resources into.
s3 production already started 1 year 5 month ago. with it released next year we can assume that s3 had 2 years of production which is better

Producers really thought if they just gave us a season 2 we’d be happy.
Given how people are still defending the poor animation, art and sound direction of season 2, the producers are totally correct in their assumption. That people would lap up whatever sloppy job produced, and go to great lengths to defend it, as long as it is labelled OPM. No wonder they rehired jc staff for season 3
Literally just finished your previous vid on this. Fantastic timing. Great job on these series
That's great haha, hope this one is interesting as well!
This video helped me gain trust in JC staff, especially after they were confirmed to be doing season 3, shows that they have some true potential.
I believe during airing there was also a weird dark filter used for bright scenes, which made some good animation fail to stand out.
TV Tokyo ways of preventing seizure
That's is almost every modern anime, you see it a lot in MHA, it's required in order to abide by anti-seizure policies.
I sense a channel that’s gonna explode with growth pretty soon

That Terminator frame is so amazing! I can't comprehend why you'd cut that!
*SIX* MONTHS? wow
yeah no wonder it looks like it does. like you said it's a miracle it's even half as good as it is at all
And aot the final season p1 had the same time while having even more eps to make and a more complicated character design. Absurd
every time you show that kameda clip of saitama punching the subterranean, im stuck rewinding over and over. its SUCH an amazing and stylish animation cut
5:53 that looked much better before all the effects were added. damn.
Season 2 just needs more time and some more Ace animators. Hope there's a good animation producer
they only had 6 months???? that's insane.
Great video, while I could tell parts were rushed with all of those white background, barely any animation sections I never knew how bad it was.
the garish shininess of metal was one of the main things that always stood out as an obnoxious intrusion to every scene for me. If they got rid of that I think it would have made some scenes look pretty good. The real frustrating part about this is that there was such a long gap of time between seasons and then they only give the animators 6 months to work. Hopefully season 3 gets the time it needs
I would love a video on the topic of David production and how they manage to make so godly animation in fire force and in Jojo bizarre adventure
So glad this was brung up. As unfortunate it was for there to be issues from this season I still really enjoyed it, honestly Garous story alone had me interested the whole ride XD of course there were more things to it but im glad they atleast kept it to a decent standard, I’d recommend watching it regardless~ 💙
I wouldn’t mind if he staff still worked on season 3 and had more time and more people working on it
I couldn’t watch season 2 after season 1.

Love the content man. It’s no wonder your channel’s popping off. Tier 1.
The fact that JC staff was able to do what they did is a miracle in itself. Not even many seasonals look as good as OPM s2.
I remember the meme with Aoki.
We were placing bets if he was going to be in every episode.
He was a "solo action animator" lol
I’m actually extremely impressed with the animation of season 2 with the added context of a severe time crunch
Interesting! Thanks for all the info, It's amazing to see so many people working on One Punch Man and the work they put into it!
For what JC staff did it was impressive. Especially when they had an extremely tight schedule.
I had a question that I was curious about if you look at comparisons of season 2 and then to the mangaYou can see a bit of downgrades To the scale of some of the monsters or something like that I'm just curious if they chose to do this because it would be easier to animate
another thing that no one mention is how Makoto Furukawa acting changes from season 1 and season 2, idk what the hell happend in the production team behind the voice acting, but god damn i wish makoto would voice act like how he did in season 1
he sounded a little less expressive in s2
@@basedondennis my friend who likes voice actors (including furukawa) said that the voice actor were directed to act like that, idk if its true or not

Can't wait for your demon animations breakdown

The Black Clover staff had some trouble as well.

I have a lot of respect for J.C Staff for delivering something like that in just 6 months, it's sad to see people shitting on them not being as good as Season 1's "Dream Team".
Thank you for shedding light on this
Time and poor pay is an issue that plagues animation industries all around the world, yet some ppl still think that poor animation is due to laziness.

And three days later, season 3 gets announced, LET'S GOOOO!
can you do an episode on why we don't have opm season three please?
I had such high hopes for season 2, since the manga (Murata) every panel drawn is worthy to be a poster on a collection wall.
But not just the animation, if animation compared to season 1 was a 6/10, the sound effects… 1/10.
Aoki is literally the man I loved what he and the team did for S2
Next video: Why is one punch man season 3's animation the best animation to ever be made? (Hopefully)
Wow. I had already thought that S2 animation was passable and even pretty good at times, but I had no idea that their time budget was that tiny. I can only imagine how godlike this season would've been if they had 5x the time they were given
Who talked about budget?
I'm looking forward to JC Staff taking on season 3. Sure, I would have loved MADhouse or Bones, but I hope JC Staff now has the time.
Like, if you go directly from S1 to S2, you will be disappointed in the art and animation, but it's also completely amazing considering the time they were given by the higher ups. They did what they could, but the higher ups did basically everything in their way to not allow the animators and artists to go 100% satisfied.
Can you do this kind of video for Records of Ragnarok?
haven't seen it tbh
Also, Do you know alot of the TV anime today is understaffed.. its insane.. and, Kadokawa planning to creat 30~40 anime titles till 2023...
But I repeat, now fans are always so a pain in the ass that sonetimes they can't recognize a solid product to a bad product.
thank you, more people need to know exactly why an anime's quality can be lower than others
Season 2 ending in a cliffhanger was also part of the reason why it was underwhelming compared to season 1

People hate on season 2s animation way too harshly purely based on season one's incredible production value and not based on season 2s ACTUAL animation.
Character designs were a bit different(which is to be expected when changing studios). Weird compositing and filters for the mechanoid characters and metallic objects aside(all probably due to time constraints), the season's animation wasn't "Bad" in the slightest.
Kubota still served as CD in s2
Thanks for making this video. It’s definitely enlightening
