Yea OPM season 2 is really well animated...I never considered it bad the only problem for me is the ghosting effects... obviously it can not match the creativity season 1 has...it had almost every veteren animators of the industry but the actual problem comes when the so called anime youtubers or influences keeps on saying season 2 is poorly animated
OPM S1 had almost no madhouse staff. all free lancers, it was a passion project. so that’s why it’s arguably the greatest anime season ever. JC STAFF couldn’t have competed even with an unlimited budget. i’m hopeful for s3
Too many people are either too butthurt at the idea that their favorite anime isnt as well animated as they think, or theyve bought into the idea that OPM season 2 is bad looking, to see that its actually very well animated for a hefty chunk of the season.
I put all the blame to Bandai for JC Staff's poor scheduling. Just how do you expect ANY studio to adapt Yusuke Murata's manga and do it justice in less than 8 months, let alone JC Staff? I've seen the studio and its in-house staffs are capable of when given way better scheduling (Danmachi, Railgun, Index, etc.), and they are not a low class anime studio.
Im really looking forward to season 3 and which studio is gonna handle it, there are so many awesome action sequences next arc I need to see them with season 1 quality but I know that's asking too much
@@ilikerainbow.butimnotgay.4835 I didn't hate season 2 like other people and the trailer looks promising so Im still really excited. Im happy we're getting it at all honestly all this wait I thought it was cancelled
Hoo boy I could already see the haters from your past videos getting pissed at how you praised OPM Season 2 thinking that you like the animation more compared to JJK , Bleach, etc when that’s far from the truth
Even though i don't remember much from S2 but Aoki cuts stand out the most i can even say he carries the whole season But these two 5:21 and 8:19 cuts r the most memorable one for me
I don't even remember Opm S2 that much, I watched it a long ago,but god damn it wasn't really as bad as people made it to be. Some of my favorite cuts were literally animated by one guy "Kenichiro Aoki" I didn't even knew about him(because I never looked for any production material of S2) Seriously gotta respect Aoki for saving S2. Also that Centipede Cgi is so good that at one point I thought it was 2d animation.
I always thought it was weird how negative the second seasons reception was. The animation was pretty neat, and the emotional and comedic beats still hit. I do wish they had less of those machine gun punching scenes though, felt like it lowered the impact of that last Garou fight.
The ghosting screwed over an unholy amount of cuts but even then the schedule was utterly abysmal. Considering the time between season 2's end and the wait for 3's beginning, with production having already started, I'm really REALLY hoping for a good production buffer that'll actually make for a consistent level of decent quality. Can't expect for lightning to strike again like it did for season 1 but I can dream they make it even halfway close.
I had zero problems with how Season 2 looked like before going online to look for more OPM content after I watched S2. TBH I didn't have any problems with it afterwards either but it was interesting to see some people hating it so much. I was just happy it got made. I rather see all of OPM animated rather than seeing nothing. GIVE ME THAT TABLE FLIP.
I honestly never understood the hate Season 2 got. Sure, there were problems, especially with that damn metal texture not meshing with the rest of the show, blur added because of tv regulations and too bassboosted sound effects. But when you looked at without nitpicking it was okay. There were some even very good moments. And story was still engaging, even for me as manga reader.
finally someone with comonsense. i watched "a certain scientific railgun" recently... J.C:Staff could have done way better at OPM if they had more time like in Railgun 1,2 and 3
Fucking thank you It's genuinely saddening how so many people dismiss season 2 as "poorly animated" when it's pretty above average all things considered, and has some mad impressive moments of bombastic action sakuga that is genuinely very well done. It's no season 1, obviously, but it's still worth enjoying
Opm was the second anime i ever watched and i watched in a row i genuinely didn't thought of a anything wrong with it But now that i look back yeah season 2 quality dropped off but still like it
Just saw some of the comments, why tf are people relating this video with "Not that well animated series" Just as I suspected larger audience = dumb takes, stupid questions and annoying mfs. Whatever man it's still nothing compared to toxicity on Twitter
I just want to say that I was a Freshmen in high school when this came out and I like everyone else was a huge fan of Season 1. I was a huge OPM fanboy and I felt like I was in the minority of people who loved season 2. I was mesmerized by the the show itself even though the animation was jarring, not because of the change of studio but because of the motion blur. I knew right away they would fix this in the Blu-Ray. With that in mind I enjoyed the ride and watched every episode with excitement and joy. I loved OPM season 2 and even liked it more than season 1. I loved how action packed this season was and the characters in it. As for the metal look the show had I didn't mind it and even liked it. I have since graduated high school a year ago and I have to say this was one of the best periods of my life so far. There's something about being excited for your favorite show and just enjoying it even with its small downsides. I own both Blu-rays of seasons 1/2 and I was thinking about rewatching it. Edit: I forgot to mention that both Blu-Rays gave us extra episodes and even with how rough the release was for the TV version of OPM Season 2, I am still surprised that JC Staff was able to push out more mini episodes for us in the Blu-Rays and it goes to show much they care about the series. One more thing is I want to show how excited I was with the fight scenes. Garou: Every fight scene he was in was so epic and his theme "I'm a Monster" made it all the more better when he went on his rampage. I remember standing up and feeling the excitement rush through my body. Genos: A lot of his fight scenes were quick but was attention grabbing and I loved it. I loved the quick animation for his scenes as he moved super fast. Saitama: That final punch at the end of season 2 was so hype! I remember just cheering with the tension of the theme "Tank Top" playing as Centichoro started slithering towards King until Saitama dropped in last second and his theme "Seigi Shikkou" played during that final punch! Suiryu vs Garou: Although this was Blu-ray exclusive, I loved the fight scene of these 2 legendary master martial artists beating each other up with their martial arts. I remember gasping and cheering when this happened as I liked these two characters. Closing thoughts: I loved this show and think it's underrated. Although I have grown up in the last 4-5 years, I can't wait for season 3 and I hope I can get that kind of energy back. No matter how the show turns out, I know I'll enjoy it.
I'm sure it could've looked better but saying it would be as good as season 1 is a bit of a stretch. Season 1 was a huge passion project with so many of the most talented animators on the planet, most of which didn't return for season 2.
@Mika yeah we can all wish but I doubt season 3 will be as good as season 1. I'm pretty sure alot of OG animators will come back though, and it will definitely be a great season (even if it's not quite on par with season 1).
Watch the video first people, he never said OPM S2 was better than any of those, he just said that is was nicely animated and that the hate it got was really undeserve. Its the complete opposite of the other vids where they get highly praised but have solid-good animation. OPM S2 has solid animation but terrible amounts of hate
It’s more really general audiences just lacking the terminology. There’s the general ‘taking a still frame and judging the quality of animation from it’ that happens every now and again. I don’t think it’s not knowing the difference between them, it’s just not knowing the different words for everything. When it comes to animation, everything is called animation even when it isn’t (I.E. in the case of shot composition, line art, colour, effects, etc)
The terms used are irrelevant. People have eyes and can clearly see that it looks like shit. You don't need to be a chef to know that your food tastes like crap.
@@TheFracturedfuture true, but using the food analogy, there is a big difference between “it tastes bad” and “it looks bad”. They usually go together, but it’s at least worth knowing that much. Of course, in visual media, you can only really look at it, but the food analogy was just a crude example. Big difference between the quality of a drawing vs the animation. At the very least, when people say “the animation looks bad” it’s not too hard to know what they mean. However, if you know anything about Ben 10, I just kinda find it a bit odd when people say Omniverse had bad animation when it actually has way more movement compared to previous series. What they really meant was the art style is bad, which is a whole different thing.
@@TheFracturedfuture anime consumers that are dissatisfied with the shows look are automatically shіttіng on animation, disrespecting the work of animators while most of season 2 complaints are related to compositing, sound design, and tv ghosting/dimming, all of which have nothing to do with animation

I'm gonna piss a lot of people, so be prepared....... I loved the Garo battle in the final few episodes of season 2 more than every single fight in season 1. The reason is one single word: Choreography.
that's a reasonable point. Saitamas fights can't be that good in terms of choreography... (except the boros fight, even though it was clear that siatama could have one-punched him) (I still love saitamas fights) since he just one-shots the enemy. garou has material arts and can actually use these. because he doesn't one hit everyone.
@@gaminginvirinch3339 S01 fights are more than just "Good" but I just don't like generic anime fights with OP characters. I just love battles that have more than 2 combatants and where you can feel that all sides are struggling. In all of S01 fights did anyone even think for a second that Saitama might lose or at least struggle to win? No.

@ 2:45 "LO Butchering" happens when the schedule is inconcivable for the in-betweeners to do that many in-betweens, not really when 2nd Key isn't. 2nd Key are the people who do the genga for other people's LOs, because not all key animators do their own genga. Going for an ambitious sequence when you know the schedule wont support it is very counter intuitive.

i never watched opm until this year. I watched s1 and s2 back to back. season 2 still looked so good that I never even noticed the animation was different
People really need to stop sleeping on J.C Staff, the animation really isn't all that bad, it's an average animation style, the change just feels so bizzare because of the bar that Madhouse set, season 1 of OPM was a collaboration of nearly every amazing animator in the industry. LET JC STAFF COOK IN SEASON 3
Its good but people just got their expectations very high because of the first season’s animation. The first season was animated by the best coming together.
If I had any annoyance with Season 2 it would be the sound effects. They really got their worth out of that punch sound effect they used almost every fight.
I just started down the One Punch Man rabbit hole on TH-cam and everyone was saying that Season 2's animation looked bad. While I effeminately get a different feel and agree that the quality isn't on par with the first season, it didn't feel bad too me at all and I've been struggling to emphasize with the OPM community on this. I've seen shows animated badly and I wouldn't say that OPM Season 2 quite falls into that category.
The main issue with OPM season 2 is that its animation is inconsistent, not outright bad. There are plenty of banger sequences that end up getting offset by a number of wtf sequences which end up standing out far more due to them being mixed in with the good stuff. If it was more like a weekly series where the episodes with the ok to bad animation were completely separate from the episodes with the good to awesome animation I think people would have complained less. The constant shifting between both extremes in the same episodes I feel is what really pushed people over the edge.
I just finished watching s2 and thought it was great, sad there was no grand finale equivalent to s1 but i liked the focus on other heroes and there were plenty of fights. Im stoked for s3.
I personally had no idea what shit everyone was smoking when they said season 2 looked bad, imo it didn’t look any worse than season one, just had some different shading that I thought was actually pretty good
It always makes me sad when people shit in jc staff for season 2 cus they’ve shown some really good work this was just obviously a situation much like mappa’s schedule with attack on titan
When I watched this season for the first time, I didn't mind the compositing on the metal too much, but I hated the fact that it's inconsistent when we take the amazing 3D models into notice, the Cocroach monster had this metalic texture fir some reason, but the centepides who are also bugs didn't (and thank God they don't). My biggest problem now is the compositing, and the mediocre colour choices, that just look like every other seasonal anime, I wouldn't mind this taht much, but they showed us how good thay can be with colour choices in episode 3, where the colouring plays perfectly into the scenery and enhances the strong drawings by Aoki qnd Takagi, it's just so nice to look at and it's a shame a lot of anime don't teally take the enwiroment the characters are in into consideration when choosing colours. Studio Mappa shaded and highlighted their cuts in natural light with consideration in AoT season 4, whinch always caught my attention and really enchanced the already great scenes for me.
Can you make a video covering Gundam Hathaway? That movie blew me away with its visuals and I believe it won animation awards in Japan (don’t quote me on that)
JC staff was completely swamped with like 10 different shows during that year, so no wonder scheduling was really bad. Geno's punches having the same sound as sticky fingers from jojo was completely hilarious to me though. The disappointment i had in OPM2 did drive me to become an animator so i'll thank the show for that at least.
Two or 3 years ago I finally decided to watch OPM as I began getting into anime. Personally, I never heard about the S2 controversy at the time. When I watched season 1 and 2 back to back, I enjoyed it all the way through. At least from my perspective, I never noticed a dip in animation quality because I enjoyed the show. The only thing I didn't really like was how the ending felt a little anti-climactic.
The biggest problem is not so much that the animation is not at the same level as season 1 but that certain battles and other parts of the story are cut
I enjoyed the second season; however, some details bothered me: the lines in the drawings not being very pronounced (it seems like the image is 'blurry' and lacks detail), the 'metal textures' on metals and monsters, the overall details, and certain incorrect body proportions (such as Saitama's, Genos's, and Garou's heads being too elongated) and the sounds chosen for punches, metal attacks, etc... (they used sounds from the CS M4). Besides that, I liked everything else.

I kinda agree....people did hated it too much in 2019..
U forgot to mention one of aokis pros
The fact he can change artstyle and animation style complex depending of the sequence
I just wanna say I love your channel man the editing is such high quality, your accent is satisfying af to listen to, and the topics you talk about are always so interesting. KEEP IT UP
Yea OPM season 2 is really well animated...I never considered it bad the only problem for me is the ghosting effects... obviously it can not match the creativity season 1 has...it had almost every veteren animators of the industry but the actual problem comes when the so called anime youtubers or influences keeps on saying season 2 is poorly animated
dude they'll complain about pretty much anything if it's a big IP
Yeah, i'd say this is multiple times better than SDS S3 and of course too good in comparison to Ex Arm
I've seen the studio and its in-house staffs are capable of when given way better scheduling (Danmachi, Railgun, Index, etc.), and they are not a low class anime studio.
wait, did bandai published/produced the series or somethin?
@@desuchanz4956 Yes. Bandai is the lead producer for the series..
Im really looking forward to season 3 and which studio is gonna handle it, there are so many awesome action sequences next arc I need to see them with season 1 quality but I know that's asking too much
Its told mappa gon make s3

Well, what are your thoughts about it being JCStaff again? Me personally, I’m excited
Even though i don't remember much from S2 but Aoki cuts stand out the most i can even say he carries the whole season
But these two 5:21 and 8:19 cuts r the most memorable one for me
I don't even remember Opm S2 that much, I watched it a long ago,but god damn it wasn't really as bad as people made it to be.
Some of my favorite cuts were literally animated by one guy "Kenichiro Aoki" I didn't even knew about him(because I never looked for any production material of S2)
Seriously gotta respect Aoki for saving S2.
Finally someone who likes the same studio that made prison school
Yeah and Prison school had great animation
And danmachi and eden zero
@@A1000-b9s And Railgun/Index
A lot of people don’t know what they are talking about and comment without watching the Video. It was an great Video keep up the work.
And story was still engaging, even for me as manga reader.
my only problem was the blur effect and the washed out bloom effect . im going to watch the blray version then
Basically, Kenichiro Aoki is the goat 🐐
Garou hard carried season 2. The fight between him and all those heroes looked very good.
My only problem with the animation was the excessive use of motion blur. Seeing the fights without the blur, I can appreciate the animation much more.
it was rlly just time constraints, which gives me a lot of hope for the upcoming season
No bro they're just bad just drop the anime and read the manga it so much better lol
@@aidanowo3146 Naw I'll read the manga and watch the anime

finally someone with comonsense. i watched "a certain scientific railgun" recently... J.C:Staff could have done way better at OPM if they had more time like in Railgun 1,2 and 3
Fucking thank you
It's genuinely saddening how so many people dismiss season 2 as "poorly animated" when it's pretty above average all things considered, and has some mad impressive moments of bombastic action sakuga that is genuinely very well done.
It's no season 1, obviously, but it's still worth enjoying
I predict that One punch man season 3 will look even better than 2 👀
Garou vs Orochi is gonna be interesting. near impossible fight to animate faithfully
Opm was the second anime i ever watched and i watched in a row i genuinely didn't thought of a anything wrong with it
But now that i look back yeah season 2 quality dropped off but still like it
Just saw some of the comments, why tf are people relating this video with "Not that well animated series"
Just as I suspected larger audience = dumb takes, stupid questions and annoying mfs.
Look, I'm going to be honest, if it wasn't for the lack of time they had, the second season would have been better than the first, no cap.
I'm sure it could've looked better but saying it would be as good as season 1 is a bit of a stretch. Season 1 was a huge passion project with so many of the most talented animators on the planet, most of which didn't return for season 2.
@@EdenHamilton True
@Mika yeah we can all wish but I doubt season 3 will be as good as season 1. I'm pretty sure alot of OG animators will come back though, and it will definitely be a great season (even if it's not quite on par with season 1).
@Mika yeahhh I hope so, there a lot of panels like that in opm season 3.
very nice take on season 2 of opm gonna sub to this channel, can't wait for more future takes
Forget everything he's saying, just watching the anime in the background reminds me of how good it looked
it wasnt bad its just that in comparison with season 1 and the hype it was virtually IMPOSSIBLE to live up to the expectations.
I personally never even noticed the difference until I heard people talking about it, it was all good to me and I just enjoyed it.
another banger video from you, love this series!
Watch the video first people, he never said OPM S2 was better than any of those, he just said that is was nicely animated and that the hate it got was really undeserve. Its the complete opposite of the other vids where they get highly praised but have solid-good animation. OPM S2 has solid animation but terrible amounts of hate
its so funny that s2 haters cant tell the difference between compositing and animation
@@randomannoyance Completely wrong. Everything wrong with season 2 is the animation. The art and sound are OK, it's the animation that is horrible.
loved the vid. also i have a quuestion- which microphone do you use and do yo add a de-esser filter in ur voiceover?
Thanks man, and no I don't use a microphone, I record using my smartphone, and no I don't use any form of audio editing (besides increasing the volume on premiere pro) although I used to do some form of audio work a while back, I don't anymore
I don't even know why people got mad in the first place, When i watching season 2 back in the day i literally didn't notice anything wrong with the animation, it is just alright, nothing to write home about but nothing that will make you throw up seeing it.
Nah S1 is was good at final fight if they removed those effects S2 would be decent
@@gaminginvirinch3339 S01 fights are more than just "Good" but I just don't like generic anime fights with OP characters. I mean for Gods sake, S01 fights felt like I'm watching a 1VS1 match from mortal combat so I kept waiting for a "Ready.... Fight!" announcement any second. I just love battles that have more than 2 combatants and where you can feel that all sides are struggling. In all of S01 fights did anyone even think for a second that Saitama might lose or at least struggle to win? No.

YESSSSS FINALLLY I WAS WAITING FR THIS VIDEO. thank u so much for covering this man, great video!!!!!!
JC Staff better not fuck Season 3 up
My brother and I were just ranting about the unreasonable level of hate directed at season 2 and discussing the good and bad, and then we saw this video. Precisely all the elements we felt could use improvement presented with specific, reasonable, concrete points and appreciation for what it did great.
Have a sub, my good man.
I was very mad at season 2 for not looking like season 1 but I didn't realize how much of season 2 actually looked fairly decent and even great very great video
As long as it’s not seven deadly sins I think we can agree it’s good
honestly, this was a very good animation analyzation.
I'd still prefer season 1 animation, but it's funny that the metal was such a big deal for people because I liked it.
I think it's a bit of both, cuz needlessly complex LO often ends up being quite rough, meaning more work for the 2nd ka people
@@ProbablyPretentious I mean sure depending on the circumstances, but its more often douga cant afford the time to focus on that cut rather than nigen.
It really wasnt as bad as people made it out to be, they were acting like it was the same level as that escanor vs meliodas fight
I always had this thought with s2, not as crazy as s1 but had really great moments, I always enjoyed JC Staff anime, from the Index franchise(Railgun especially) Edens zero and Danmachi, it Aoki having one of my favourite styles, great video👍🏾
Another great video by spitting facts. Aoki deserves all the praise. GOAT of J. C staff.
i never watched opm until this year. I watched s1 and s2 back to back. season 2 still looked so good that I never even noticed the animation was different
My issue wasn't the animation it was the art. The characters were always off model w those long ass faces
Thank you!! It seemed as if I was the only one who believed this!
Surprisingly J.C Staff's CGI for OPM S2 was actually really good, i didn't actually notice it was cgi at the first watch.
Watch the video. I think it's outsourced
@@A1000-b9sit isn't.
Idk why but I had a better time understanding what's happening during the fights in season 2 compared to season 1. Also Speed Line Backgrounds :)
S1 is nice and s2 is good, however I don’t understand how people get mad over little changes
I just finished watching s2 and thought it was great, sad there was no grand finale equivalent to s1 but i liked the focus on other heroes and there were plenty of fights. Im stoked for s3.
I still go back for that Garou vs A Class fight. That whole thing looked gorgeous
Honestly the compositing and coloring is what throws me off for this season.
But, you don't have worry because the season 1 Character designer and Cinematographer is returning in season 3.
I personally had no idea what shit everyone was smoking when they said season 2 looked bad, imo it didn’t look any worse than season one, just had some different shading that I thought was actually pretty good
Back then i was watching s2 the first time it aired i didn’t even know they switched studios
Oh my god someone finally said it !!!
Can you make a video covering Gundam Hathaway? That movie blew me away with its visuals and I believe it won animation awards in Japan (don’t quote me on that)
You shouldn’t start with Gundam Hathaway. It’s great, but you need to see the other shows first
The problem isn't really the quality of s2. It's just I think people expected the quality to be higher after the s1.
S2 is a 7/10 but it got underrated because S1 is 9.8/10
JC staff was completely swamped with like 10 different shows during that year, so no wonder scheduling was really bad.
Geno's punches having the same sound as sticky fingers from jojo was completely hilarious to me though.
The disappointment i had in OPM2 did drive me to become an animator so i'll thank the show for that at least.
What the other projects has to do with The schedule 💀. The schedule is defined by the production committee
Especially when you look at the Blu-Ray/Uncut Version
Two or 3 years ago I finally decided to watch OPM as I began getting into anime. Personally, I never heard about the S2 controversy at the time. When I watched season 1 and 2 back to back, I enjoyed it all the way through. At least from my perspective, I never noticed a dip in animation quality because I enjoyed the show. The only thing I didn't really like was how the ending felt a little anti-climactic.
i would love to hear your thoughts on heavenly delusion
My favourite part about season 2 was where there was actual animation, I really enjoyed the whole 2 minutes of animation 😊
I have a suggestion do a animation breakdown of boruto ep 189
if this season just had a more manga accurate artstyle/ better colour palette then it would of been praised
Which metal texture give example bro I too will see it
I ain't reading all that lol
@@aidanowo3146nobody's forcing you to read it. Your just replying to every comment thats saying season 2 is good and ignoring the comments with real reasons.
the fact that the animators had 6 months to make the show and it still is watchable is insane

can you do one punch man s1 animation?
