Debargue is idiosyncratic and highly talented. He seems to have an affinity with Medtner
This is by far the best interpretation of this piece, period
I had never heard anything by Medtner. This made me want to listen to more of his compositions! ❤
This is my favorite recording of this sonata
Le jour où j'ai découvert ce merveilleux pianiste....
Thank You Very much for sharing this miracle. Yesterday I listening Lucas performance in Carnegie Hall - and be fulfilled by this amazing grandiose Music Miracle. It's difficult (almost impossible) to note that this sonata was started to composed by 15-16 years old young person 130 years ago. There are all cataclysms of past XX century - Good and Evil, Dark And Light and of course Strongness of Souls. Thank You to Lucas for keeping this miracle and share with us.
Ah didn't know he still plays this sonata and had a chance to take it to Carnegie Hall! Wish I was there 🙂
I'm Russian Emigrant for almost 27 years and Russian Poet. I writting a lot about my music impressions (cassical music). So many visions and impressions come with this performance. I listening Your Recording and try to fill can I tell something about my fillings.
I was also at his Carnegie Hall recital and the Medtner was the highlight of the program. Brilliantly played!
Well played
Not my favourite Medtner work, but WOW this performance is incredible! So much heart and depth. If this isn't as good as his Tchaik competition performance, I can only wonder how good THAT must have been. What a privilege to hear this in person!

А все же на конкурсе эта соната прозвучала намного лучше. Слишком высоко тогда была поднята планка. Теперь каждое исполнение будут сравнивать с тем.
Navo ?
So slow and shallow.
