When I used to spend the night with my grandmother, the first thing I'd do was grab this keyboard from under her couch, turn on this demo and pretend I was really playing the piano. We were very close and when she died recently I became obsessed with finding this song as the keyboard was long since gone. Thank you so much for this video. I may be a crying mess right now, but hearing this has brought back so many wonderful memories.
I know you posted this two years ago, but I wanted to say that I just lost my grand mom and went through the same thing. I was so excited to find this but instantly started sobbing, I'm even crying now. It's such a sweet memory and I'm glad I'm not the only one with it
I just saw one for sale on facebook. Had to search out the video to hear the demo and this actually brings tears to my eyes. Similar to you I used to pretend to. With my whole family. Sadly I've lost grandparents and parents. I remember the ghost sound a lot too.
finally I found this demo song and burst into tears. I used to pretend that I was playing that keyboard with this demo song in my childhood together with my grandpa. he passed away 2 years ago ❤️😢
It’s 30 years… I’m crying thinking about those times. It was a little piece of happiness in middle of all that chaos going in my house. It was an escape for me.
So many feels. Thanks for uploading this. Every sound patch was a flashback to my childhood. I love how all these people in the comments, including myself, are connected in this funny way.
THIS IS THE SONG!! I've been looking for this exact tune for the longest time! Definitely a song I remember from being just a little baby, and in this exact tune!! This is such a nice surprise
Bananabreadify23 my dad had this keyboard when I was a child too! I was born in 1984. But I remember this demo song and always loved it. My dad had this exact keyboard and I remember always clicking that yellow “demo” button. Took me quite a few years to track it down and realize it was Billy Joel. 😂.
No words....It's been, what, 30 years? By just how much listening to these songs make me feel like it was just yesterday, I realize how much they were burned in my brain from hours and hours of use all those years ago. Thank you so much for this
I have been looking for this keyboard FOREVER! It wasn't until I heard "Just The Way You Are" for the first time, that I said "this sounds familiar " and then it hit me that my older brother and I had this exact same keyboard growing up. I'm glad I finally found video of it. Brings back so many memories!
Similar thing happened to me. I was doing karaoke with my grandparents when they put on this song, and to my surprise it was the same as the demo I had on my keyboard as a kid. I was already into Billy Joel, so it's kinda crazy that this had evaded me for so long.
My first keyboard, where I first learned the notes, how to make chords, and where I started writing my first songs. I still have this somewhere in my parents' attic, and I wouldn't get rid of it for anything in the world. :-)
When I was in secondary school this school had a keyboard like this and I loved this particular demo. Many years after I heard the song by Barry White. Memories.
i bought this keyboard from my best friend in middle school back in 2001. He died last year and anytime I think of this song i get emo. such a classic. and the quirky casio sounds add character. I love this version haha. nostalgia.
I always loved this keyboard! My great grandparents had one. I don’t know what happened to it. was anyone else terrified by the ghost noise? Or was it just me? Lol
My brother used to scare me with that synth! I would always plug my ears when that part of the demo came around. Glad to have found a kindred spirit lol-
I used to have a keyboard that played this exact same song, but with different types of instruments than the ones that are heard in this video! I love this song! It's so pretty!
Wow I remember having this as a kid. We would always do the same lame joke over and over on all our parents.. press the demo song button then pretend we were actually playing it !
This version of the demo has a way warmer and more pleasant sound than the PSS-170; what an improvement. Then Yamaha went nuts with 600+ sound keyboards with the PSR series.
+Wagoo It's the same song in both demos but there is a huge difference in instrument quality. EDIT: Also, the tempo on the PSS 270 demo is faster; I just noticed.
I never did learn to play, but I used to jam on the 00 to keep the tone the same and try to discern the notes through brute force trial and error on this song. At my peak, I had about ten seconds of it memorized.
I just found one in a small store today for sell really cheap!! I got it cause it brings old memories of my childhood :) I also recorded a video of it to show that it's almost new! I'm happy :)
I have a yamaha portasound pss-270 keyboard two and it has a same design and same model. Where I got this keyboard is that I found it after Hurricane Sandy, but it was all mest up because during sandy this keyboard was in the water wend floods occured since this weather came. The good news was that it works, and the bad news is that some of the keys do not work. I was upset at that time. I have been trying my best to diagnose the problem to get it to work properly and it's going well. :-)
Eons ago, a buddy and I used to run the demo and pretend to be smarmy game show hosts, making up ridiculous prizes and in general doing little impromptu comedy bits. It was lots of fun and didn't make a bit of sense. I used the video here as the background for a Christmas audio message I just sent him - yes, using my game show host voice, a call back to the old days.
This song means so much to me and to so many people who had this keyboard as a kid. This is pure nostalgia.
FACTSS
It was always a moment of melodic beauty when the demo song chose to play a passage in Machinegun
I always thought it was fun to play the demo with portamento on. :-)
LOL
Yeah boi, and wave.
😂😂😂😂 nailed it
I liked that too but ghost was my fav

This brings back so many nostalgic memories of my childhood. This was the first keyboard my dad gave me.

Words cannot express how nostalgic I feel right now... I can't believe I finally found this missing piece of my childhood.

This keyboard was my first love. I almost shed a tear when I saw the buttons, let alone hear the song...the nostalgia...
This is like a time machine to my childhood for me. Thank you

Billy Joel's just the way you are has never been as interesting as this. My childhood has returned...

True story - I wanted one of these keyboards, just for the demo song! This was years before I even knew it was written by Billy Joel.
OMG I remember this demo but now I realized it´s just the way you are!
I haven't hear this in over 35 years! Holy crap!!
これ、発売当時お茶の水のイシバシ楽器店頭にいつもあって店頭でよく再生して聴いたのを覚えています。80年代。セブンスの使い方がツボで♪
難しいテンションでは無く7thだけで美味しいハーモニーを付けてる。

When I was in secondary school this school had a keyboard like this and I loved this particular demo. Many years after I heard the song by Barry White. Memories.
Heard this song on repeat while tripping on mushrooms super hard with friends years ago. This demo song literally kept us safe and in bliss.
このキーボード欲しかったんだよ。
中学生の時、親戚の叔父の家に置いてあったので、
それをずっと弾いていた。
親父に買ってもらおうとねだったんだけれど、
売ってなかったな・・・。
My cousin had this keyboard and it reminds me of being at our grandparents in the late 1980s. Sure miss them.
Wow i still have this keyboard!
I love that !!!!! I had this keyboard back in 1987 and used to play this all the time !! 🙂
I had a PSS-270 when I was a kid. For being only a 2-operator FM synth, it was very versatile.
Thank you for uploading this! Man, I remember this still from when I was a kid (80's) even though the machine died in the early 90's.
I had this as a child in the 90s. Thank you so much for this video.

So funny how all of us heard this song in the 1980s. I listened to it for hours.
This version of the demo has a way warmer and more pleasant sound than the PSS-170; what an improvement. Then Yamaha went nuts with 600+ sound keyboards with the PSR series.
They sound exactly the same..
+Wagoo
It's the same song in both demos but there is a huge difference in instrument quality.
EDIT: Also, the tempo on the PSS 270 demo is faster; I just noticed.
