    First comment here!
I'm so glad to see you for first time
    with eaction to ABBA songs
several things to say about "Chiquitita" (1979)
Chiquitita" means 'little girl' (with affection) in spanish And the melody have a spanish tune, specialy by the acustic guitar But the center is the wonderful piano, like almost all ABBA songs
"Chiquitita" is a beautiful song, it has hopeful lyrics, a melody that starts very soft with the blonde Agnetha's solo, then grows and explodes in a powerful chorus; Agnetha & Frida's vocal harmonies are of excellence
It allows us to check how excellent singers the blonde Agnetha & the brunette Frida are and what harmonies of excellence they achieve. It stands out especially when they stretch the monosyllables with great quality and beauty
"Chiquitita" was premiered especially for the UNICEF Concert (January 9, 1979, just 45 years ago!) and its royalties are eternal for UNICEF
"Chiquitita" was ABBA's greatest success in Latin America, that prompted ABBA to record it in Spanish, and its success was so extraordinary that in the following year ABBA recorded a full album with their best songs entirely in Spanish
("Chiquitita" in Spanish is the biggest ABBA hit in My country Argentina)
Chiquitita" is in the Top 3 of all ABBA worldwide biggest hits, with 'Dancing Queen" and "Fernando", and it's a fantastic Masterpiece
These official video was filmed in Swizterland 1979 (ABBA goes for a TV Special)
It's the only promotional video that ABBA made without Sweden
I hope to see you soon in another ABBA song
    my next suggestion is to
    "Fernando" (1976)
with the brunete singer Frida in lead voice
GOD bless you and stay safe
    My best regards from
    Buenos Aires, Argentina 🇦🇷
    South América

    another comment
These is ABBA, the iconic Swedish pop quartet,
the best, most versatile and most important of the 70s,
in the post BEATLES decade (the revolutionary group of the 60s)
ABBA, as in its time BEATLES,
was a musical and cultural phenomenon, and its legacy lives on
remember that ABBA is an acronim with initials of their first names; initialy They was two couples:
A- Agnetha (blonde lead vocal) &
    B- Björn (guitarist and songwriter)
B- Benny (pianist and songwriter) &
A- Anni Frid , known as 'Frida' (brunette lead vocal)
(both couples separated before the breakup of the group in 1982)
    ABBA recording between 1972/1982,
have a wonderful series of more than 20 worldwide hits, included nine #1 in UK:
    Waterloo
    Mamma Mia
    Fernando
    Dancing Queen
    Knowing me knowing you
    The name of the game
    Take a chance on me
    The winner takes it all
    Super trouper
    and answering your questions
    "S.O.S." (1974/1975)
It's also my favorite ABBA song.
but since the main voice is the blonde Agnetha,
I prefer to suggest a song that the brunette Frida sings,
so you balance, because both are the main voices in ABBA
    ABBA is a quartet,
but for their recordings and TV presentations, they use studio musicians from their country Sweden.
(and for tours they double the staff, including backup singers)
my memory coincides with this same song
Its impact on my country, Argentina, was literally devastating.
never before has an ABBA song been so massive here
and its colossal success made ABBA record it in Spanish
and that harmony that you see in the video
is due to the love of music that the four of them have, despite their personal circumstances.
That video is just two months after the separation of the couple
between the blonde singer Agnetha and the guitarist Björn
    (with two small children)
And yet they continued making music together in ABBA for 4 more years.
but now in recent years all fans have seen ABBA reunite after 35 years,
release a latest album, inaugurate a stadium in London UK
for their unprecedented concerts with ABBAtars of theirs.
and receive the order of Knights by the Kings of Sweden
they have given us many emotions in recent years

one of the most beautiful ABBA songs. Agnetha's beautiful voice at the beginning and then Frida comes in with her wonderful voice and the harmony is perfect. And Bennie's piano is so good. Watch ABBA live Wembley, they were perfect

This song was recorded for Unicef. All proceeds from this song have been donated to Unicef for boys & girls in need, Frida is still an ambassador for Unicef, It has raised over $5 million so far.

I was born the year they won Eurovision and hit the big time, so my formative years were full of ABBA on the radio :)
The first time I can ever recall hearing an ABBA song was when I was not much more than a toddler, sitting in one of those little supermarket trolley seats for children, with my mum pushing me around a supermarket with the song "Money Money Money" playing in the background.
I later found out that this song came out in late 1976, which sounds about right as I would have been about 2 and a half at this time :D

In my teens i experienced ABBA first at high school during music lesson, once in a while the students could bring their fav record(vinyl) to listen to , someone was a huge fan. Anyway in 1976 when there was a real long hot summer their massive hit Dancing Queen came out, my o my what a joy nd it stood for weeks nr 1, since then i am a fan. Love many songs(probably all) but if i play one of there songs more often its" The day before u came", probably the sentiment of then, nd also "The winner takes it all"😊

This is my favourite ABBA song. Other great songs by them are
    Knowing me Knowing you
    Take a chance on me
    Does your mother know
    The name of the game
    Kisses of fire
If it wasn't for the nights
    Another town another train
    Honey honey
    Angel eyes
    As good as new
The king has lost his crown

Chiquitita is Spanish and means "Little One" (small girl). They were a married couple. The blonde, Agnetha -(Anna) was married to Björn - the guitarist. The brunette woman Anni-Frid (Frida) was married to the piano player, Benny.

Since ypu're curious there are plenty of Abba album deep cuts and tracks that many could have easily been fine singles but never were.Such as 'Move On","Kisses of Fire","Our last summer","If it wasn't for the Nights","One man One Woman", "That's Me" or even the classical music infleunced-kinda soundtrack oriented "Ode To Freedom" to mention but a few. This last one is an anthemic gem from their 2021 no1 album "Voyage" who gave 2 great new Abba classics to be "Don't Shut Me down" and 'I still have faith in you" that i guess will possibly be included in MM's 3rd film if it happens in future times since rumour has it that it was meant to be some kind of a trilogy.

I was a bit shocked as a young kid that my favourite song 'Mama Mia' and my mom's favourite song 'Fernando' were sung by the same band. Didn't find that out till I watched Abba on TV. Kinda knew at that point that they would be huge and they were. When Dancing Queen came out, no one doubted they were the best. Of course, a lot of people into rock music resisted them and despised them. But I like all kinds of music myself.

SOS that you've mentioned is another great classic and has also got a divine live performance from 1977 Australian tour captured in 'Abba The Movie" film.I would also suggest you 'Knowing me Knowing yoy" another classic one (this time it is Frida on the lead/ a UK no1 for 5 weeks) or even an album great 'Our Last Summer" also featured in the MM movie but Abba's version is the real thing in their prime reign.

    Definitely a deep rabbit hole.
If you want to see them perform on TV try "SOS" from 1975, just search it by title and year and it will likely be the first video.

Knowing it is a charity single for UNICEF the title and lyrics make a lot of sense. Chiquitita, Spanish for "little girl". Agnetha, Benny, Bjorn, Anni-Frid - ABBA, two married couples. Who wrote about relationships, the problems and eventually their failure. Their later songs were much more adult orientated, not simple disco pop. They wrote songs that resonated all around the world - and still do. Over a hundred songs, 9 number 1 singles, 10 number one Albums.

Agnetha takes lead on The Winner Takes It All and SOS. Frida takes lead on Fernando and Knowing Me Knowing You. All smash hits.

Chiquitita is a lovely song. And I remember that Winter or maybe it was a Xmas special being on the TV, which is where that video comes from. I think it was in Switzerland.
Yes, four core members of ABBA Agnetha, Bjorn, Benny and Anni-Frid, hence ABBA. They of course had other musicians on occasion, and one time when Agnetha was pregnant, she had a stand-in called Inger Brundin.
PS there are plenty of album tracks not in Mama Mia, so you should be able to find ones you don't know.

If I may be bold 😮.... please put out all those thoughts of the film that your grandma loved so much, those people are only Actors and not very good when it comes to singing.
Try and go down that ABBA Rabbit 🐰 🕳️, you will be Very Very surprised at the pure genius and talent that is ABBA.
    A= Agnetha, Blonde Vocalist
    B= Bjorn, Guitarist, Songwriter
    B=Benny, Keyboards, music writer
A= Anni-Frid, Brunette, Vocalist (also known as Frida)
And that how they were called ABBA and the are a Swedish Band that got their big breakthrough by Winning the Eurovision Song Contest way back in 1974😮
Agnetha and Bjorn were married but divorced in 1979
Frida and Benny were a couple then married late 70's but divorced in 1981.
They never officially split up but stopped recording together in late 1982.
They only did 2 World Tours, the first in 1977 then again in 1979.
I got to see them in London at Wembley Arena in 1979.
They got together again in 2021 and released 2 New singles and then a couple of months later released their last album.
They've said that they won't record together again, Thier All in their late 70's now so I think they deserve their Retirement.
ABBA purpose built a Arena in London in 2022 where thay have whats become known as the ABBA-tar Concert, you can find out more about this on TH-cam.
The Concert's have been going on now for nearly 3 years selling over 2 and a Half million tickets, their as popular now as they were when at the peak their career in the 70's and early 80's.
Hope this gives you an insight at just how big they were. Hope you enjoy your time going down the ABBA 🐰🕳️
